In diesem Band „Essays zur Didaktik der Geographie“ werden in 8 Beiträgen ausgewählte Methoden für den Geographieunterricht behandelt. Praxiserfahrenen Geographiedidaktiker(inne)n und Geographielehrer(inne)n haben die Themen Croquis/Chorèmes und Schemata, Einstiege, Planspiele, Rollenspiele, Scaffolding, Schulbücher, Spiele und Umweltbildung in pointierter Form aufbereitet. Die Inhalte dieses Buches richten sich an Studierende, Referendarinnen und Referendare sowie Lehrer(inn)en, die sich kompakt über einzelne Themen oder Stichworte informieren wollen. Die acht Beiträge ergänzen die 65 Beiträge im „Metzler Handbuch 2.0 Geographieunterricht“. Sie sind durch wechselseitige Querverweise systematisch miteinander verbunden.

Soziale Netzwerkanalyse für HumangeographInnen : Einführung in UCINET und NetDraw in fünf Schritten

In den Sozialwissenschaften profiliert sich derzeit eine disziplinübergreifende Netzwerkforschung, die sich durch eine relationale Theorieperspektive auszeichnet. Die empirische Forschung greift dabei vermehrt auf das Methodenrepertoire der Social Network Analysis (SNA) zurück. Für die Humangeographie kann der soziologische Blick der Netzwerkforschung auf unterschiedliche Weise um „Raumbezüge“ ergänzt und in verschiedenen Forschungsfeldern zur Anwendung gebracht werden. Trotz ihres vielfältigen Potenzials nimmt die SNA in der geographischen Methodenausbildung in Deutschland bisher einen eher untergeordneten Stellenwert ein. Dieses Buch richtet sich an Studentinnen und Studenten, die sich für (humangeographische) empirische Netzwerkforschung interessieren und einen einfachen Einstieg suchen. Es führt verständlich in zentrale Fachbegriffe der SNA und die grundlegenden Funktionen der Analyse-Software UCINet ein. Von der Dateneingabe und -aufbereitung, über die Visualisierung bis hin zu netzwerkanalytischen Berechnungen werden die ersten Schritte vorgestellt und nachvollziehbar erläutert.

SEE THE REAL INDIA – nicht erst seit Slumdog Millionaire versteht sich der mitten im Mumbai gelegene Slum Dharavi als Geheimtipp für Ausflüge abseits des touristischen Mainstreams. Er reiht sich somit in die Reihe der weltweit touristifizierten Armenviertel ein, wie die Favelas von Rio oder die Townships von Kapstadt. Die Entwicklung des globalen Slumtourismus ist zunächst verwunderlich. Favelas Townships und Slums gelten gemeinhin als Orte des Elends und stehen im Kontrast zu den herkömmlichen Sehenswürdigkeiten der besuchten Städte. Von Medien und anderen Touristen wird die touristische Vermarktung der Armenviertel daher oftmals als Voyeurismus und Ausbeutung kritisiert. Anbieter von Slumtouren erklären jedoch, im Mittelpunkt der Touren stände nicht die Zurschaustellung von Armut und Elend, sondern vielmehr das Hervorheben kultureller Aspekte und positiver Entwicklungsimpulse. Vor diesem Hintergrund geht die Arbeit der Frage nach, ob sich die Besichtigung von Armut als zentrales Charakteristikum des Slumtourismus bestimmen lässt. Anhand einer empirischen Fallstudie wird untersucht, wie der indische Slum Dharavi als touristischer Ort (re-)produziert wird. Mit welchen wahrnehmungsleitenden Schemata beobachten teilnehmende Touristen und Tour-Anbieter den Slum und welche je verschiedenen Vorstellungen und Bilder von Dharavi bzw. von Armut werden dadurch bewusst und unbewusst konstruiert?
