Wie schreibe ich einen Literaturbericht? Was gehört in einen Exzerpt? Wer sich mit den Schwierigkeiten des wissenschaftlichen Schreibens herumschlägt, kann sich an den WeltTrends – Lehrtext Nr. 4 wenden. In kurzen und präzisen Kapiteln wird dem Leser der korrekte Umgang mit den verschiedenen Anforderungen wissenschaftlicher Arbeit, wozu auch Protokolle und Referate zählen, nahe gebracht. Zudem finden Sie Anregungen zu mündlichen Prüfungen und der Disputation. Der Lehrtext ist eine konzentrierte Hilfe sowohl für Studienanfänger als auch für diejenigen, die vor dem Abschluss ihres Studiums stehen.

Die Frage nach der politischen Ordnung steht im Mittelpunkt des Lehrtextes zur Einführung in die Wissenschaft von der Res Publica. Dieses als Skript konzipierte Lehrbuch dient als Grundlage der Einführungsvorlesung an der Universität Potsdam. Mit einem nüchternen Blick in die Geschichte, von der Antike über die frühe Neuzeit bis in die Gegenwart – und dies global – wird das Politische aus verschiedenen Perspektiven diskutiert. Es ist vor allem ein Text für jene, die sich mit dem Politischen zu beschäftigen beginnen, jedoch auch für jene lohnenswert, die sich erneut der Grundlagen versichern möchten.

Wie stellt sich politische Herrschaft in Theorie und Praxis dar? Staatstheoretische Konzepte von der Antike bis zur Gegenwart werden im vorliegenden Text ebenso wie verschiedenste Regierungsformen vorgestellt. Dies umfasst die Despotie der Vormoderne, den Absolutismus, bis hin zu den verschiedenen Varianten politischer Herrschaft im 20. Jahrhundert. Dabei werden Beispiele und Themen angesprochen, die oft außerhalb vergleichbarer Werke liegen. So können sowohl die Ernennung des Dogen von Venedig, als auch die Organisation Byzanz’ und der Inka nachvollzogen werden. Unterstützt wird dieser anspruchvolle Text durch ausführliches Bild- und Tabellenmaterial.
Polen in Europa

Bei unseren östlichen Nachbarn werden derzeit mehrere Jubiläen zelebriert: 25 Jahre politischer Umbruch, 15 Jahre Mitgliedschaft in der NATO und 10 Jahre in der EU. WeltTrends nimmt diese geballte Zahlenmagie zum Anlass, Polen zum Thema zu machen. Heft 100 gewährt einen Einblick in die aktuellen außenpolitischen Diskurse in Polen: Sei es zum Verhältnis zur EU, zu den USA oder zu Russland. Natürlich geht es dabei stets auch um das Verhältnis zu Deutschland und ob die Anfang der 1990er Jahre proklamierte „strategische Interessengemeinschaft“ zu einer tatsächlichen Partnerschaft geworden ist.
Welche Rolle hat die politische Opposition in autoritären Regimen? Das vorliegende Arbeitspapier formuliert generelle Überlegungen zum Phänomen des Autoritarismus im 21. Jahrhundert und entwickelt ein Konzept, mit dem regionenübergreifend das politische Agieren der Opposition in autoritären Regimen analysiert werden kann.
