This paper shows the KMDL Knowledge Management Approach which is based on the SECI and ba model by Nonaka and Takeuchi and the KMDL Knowledge modeling language. The approach illustrates the creation of knowledge with the focus on the knowledge conversions by Nonaka and Takeuchi. Furthermore, it emphasizes the quality of knowledge being embodied in persons and creates a personalization and socialization strategy which integrates business process modeling, skill management and the selection of knowledge management systems. The paper describes the theoretical foundations of the approach and practical effects which have been seen in the use of this approach.
In Organisationen mit mehreren hundert oder mehr Mitarbeitern ist es kaum möglich, einen Überblick über die Kompetenzen und Spezialkenntnisse von Beschäftigten zu behalten. Die Suche nach Fachleuten gestaltet sich dann oft schwierig, zum Beispiel wenn ein Projektteam zusammengestellt werden soll. Hilfe versprechen Skill- Management-Systeme, vorausgesetzt, ihre Datenbank wurde sinnvoll eingerichtet und wird laufend aktualisiert. Die Autoren beschreiben Aufbau und Struktur derartiger Systeme, fragen nach ihren kosten und nennen Kriterien für professionelle Lösungen.
A Procedural Model for the Production of reusable and standard-compliant E-Learning Offerings

Cost-efficient production of high-quality learning contents is an important success factor for a sustainable and economic realisation of E-Learning. This necessitates the design of sustainable production processes, which create reusable Learning Objects and require minimal resources. In such a context, this contribution introduces a practical and business-process oriented Procedural Model for the Production of reusable and standard-compliant E-Learning Offerings. It has been developed and applied in a project that produces learning contents for a Master program of an international virtual university. After the introduction of a reengineering method, a special analysis instrument for E-Learning has been designed to analyse the existing production processes and to improve them in terms of efficiency, costs, standard- compliance, and process automation. The method introduced is hence not focussing on individual technical solutions but on the efficiency of the whole E-Learning production and value chain. It gives an orientation for establishing and maintaining sustainable and competitive E-Learning production processes with appropriate effort.
Der vorliegende Beitrag gibt eine Einführung in die Analyse und Optimierung wissensintensiver Geschäftsprozesse. Dazu wird die Modellierungsmethodik KMDL® vorgestellt und ein Szenario ihrer Anwendung auf wissensintensive Prozesse im Finanzdienstleistungssektor entworfen. Dies wird exemplarisch am Dienstleistungsentwicklungsprozess sowie am Kundenberatungsprozess demonstriert. Dabei werden für beide Prozesse durch den Einsatz der KMDL® erkennbare Potenzialfelder aufgezeigt und Handlungsempfehlungen entworfen.
Process oriented knowledge management focuses on knowledge intensive business processes. For modelling and analysis of these processes the modelling technique KMDL (Knowledge Modeling and Description Language) has been developed. KMDL is a method to describe knowledge flows and conversions along and between business processes. Thereby KMDL identifies existing and utilized information as well as knowledge of individual participants and of the entire company. This research-in-progress contribution introduces a practical example in the field of software engineering, in which KMDL models are evaluated to identify process improvements, e.g. by adding knowledge management activities. Therefore three individual views focussing on selected aspects of interest are introduced.
Glucosinolates are a group of secondary metabolites that function as defense substances against herbivores and micro-organisms in the plant order Capparales. Indole glucosinolates (IGS), derivatives of tryptophan, may also influence plant growth and development. In Arabidopsis thaliana, indole-3-acetaldoxime (IAOx) produced from tryptophan by the activity of two cytochrome P450 enzymes, CYP79B2 and CYP79B3, serves as a precursor for IGS biosynthesis but is also an intermediate in the biosynthetic pathway of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA). Another cytochrome P450 enzyme, CYP83B1, funnels IAOx into IGS. Although there is increasing information about the genes involved in this biochemical pathway, their regulation is not fully understood. OBP2 has recently been identified as a member of the DNA-binding-with-one- finger (DOF) transcription factors, but its function has not been studied in detail so far. Here we report that OBP2 is expressed in the vasculature of all Arabidopsis organs, including leaves, roots, flower stalks and petals. OBP2 expression is induced in response to a generalist herbivore, Spodoptera littoralis, and by treatment with the plant signalling molecule methyl jasmonate, both of which also trigger IGS accumulation. Constitutive and inducible over- expression of OBP2 activates expression of CYP83B1. In addition, auxin concentration is increased in leaves and seedlings of OBP2 over-expression lines relative to wild-type, and plant size is diminished due to a reduction in cell size. RNA interference-mediated OBP2 blockade leads to reduced expression of CYP83B1. Collectively, these data provide evidence that OBP2 is part of a regulatory network that regulates glucosinolate biosynthesis in Arabidopsis
