Die Informatik durchdringt zusehends fast alle Bereiche der Ausbildung und der Berufswelt. Die Stichwörter berücksichtigen die Geschichte der Informatik und den heutigen Stand ihrer Methoden und beziehen aktuelle und absehbare Entwicklungen mit ein. Das ausführliche Register sorgt dafür, dass man den gewünschten Begriff sofort im Blick hat. Rund 3 000 Stichwörter, etwa 700 Abbildungen, Register.
Das Problemlösen spielt eine zentrale Rolle in vielen Teilgebieten der Informatik. Es ist daher wichtig, den Problemlösekompetenzen bereits im Informatikunterricht an der Schule einen entsprechend hohen Stellenwert einzuräumen. Lehramtsstudierende sollen während des Praxissemesters vertiefte Kenntnisse im Problemlösen erwerben und in die Lage versetzt werden, informatisches Problemlösen zu vermitteln. Dazu werden theoretische Hintergründe vermittelt, deren Erkenntnisse in Unterrichtsentwürfe umgesetzt und in der Praktikumsschule erprobt werden. Ferner wird die Reflexionskompetenz in Bezug auf das Problemlösen anhand einer Videostudie vertieft. Das Praxissemester wurde bislang viermal in dieser Form durchgeführt und weitgehend erfolgreich umgesetzt. Hindernisse ergaben sich u. a. durch die Fülle des Stoffs und bei der praktischen Durchführung. Diesen und weiteren Problemen wird durch Anpassungen des Konzepts entgegengewirkt.
Eine übliche Erzählung verknüpft lange Studienzeiten und hohe Abbrecherquoten im Informatikstudium zum einen mit der sehr gut bezahlten Nebentätigkeit von Studierenden in der Informatikbranche, die deutlich studienzeitverlängernd sei; zum anderen werde wegen des hohen Bedarfs an Informatikern ein formeller Studienabschluss von den Studierenden häufig als entbehrlich betrachtet und eine Karriere in der Informatikbranche ohne abgeschlossenes Studium begonnen. In dieser Studie, durchgeführt an der Universität Potsdam, untersuchen wir, wie viele Informatikstudierende neben dem Studium innerhalb und außerhalb der Informatikbranche arbeiten, welche Erwartungen sie neben der Bezahlung damit verbinden und wie sich die Tätigkeit auf ihr Studium und ihre spätere berufliche Perspektive auswirkt. Aus aktuellem Anlass interessieren uns auch die Auswirkungen der Covid-19-Pandemie auf die Arbeitstätigkeiten der Informatikstudierenden.
