Study 1 targets grammatical restrictions, based on a corpus of peer group conversations among adolescents. We show that noncanonical variants have the form of bare NPs with or without preposition and appear in both multilingual and monolingual speech communities, following the same syntactic and semantic patterns. While there is a quantitative advantage for the multilingual group, noncanonical variants generally constitute only a minority compared to canonical full PP[DP]. Study 2 targets usage restrictions across communicative situations, based on a corpus of elicited productions by adolescents from a multilingual urban neighbourhood. Comparisons show significantly more noncanonical local expressions in informal, peer-group situations than in formal ones for both spoken and written modes. Taken together, results indicate a selective, grammatically restricted and register-bound choice of noncanonical local expressions.
The article offers a rereading of Sibylla Schwarz’s prose eclogue, Faunus. By describing the circumstances and the development of a young love in detail, Schwarz directs the reader’s attention to the fact, that Christian moral and ethical standards are external, and, therefore, are to be rejected. Instead, she places the ‘anthropological’ dimension in the foreground, the interest in human beings and their emotional motivations. Affective control and adaptation to conventions are less important. In that regard, this short text can be seen as an integral part of a prehistory of ‘literary anthropology,’ which ultimately evolved only in the course of the 18th century, although, as will be shown, its precursors can already be found in the 17th century.

Adaptation to physical activity and mental stress in the context of pain. Psychobiological aspects
(2016)
The genesis of chronic pain is predominantly explained by a multidimensional pain model approach that is based on the dysfunctional influence of biological, psychological and social variables as key risk factors inducing aberrant long-term changes. Biological facets comprise adaptation processes on the neuronal, musculoskeletal and (psycho) biological level that can be influenced by physical training or psychosocial factors, such as stress. These factors can play a causative role in developing dysfunctional adaptation mechanisms, which in turn prepare the biological ground to facilitate negative long-term changes in the peripheral and central nervous systems. Hence, these processes can be assumed to be fundamentally involved in the transition from acute to chronic and persistent pain. The aim of this review article is to discuss hypotheses for the genesis of chronic pain and possible treatment strategies. Selected research results about maladaptive processes in chronic pain due to psychological stress and physical activity are presented in order to inspire discussions about the ideal dose-response relationship of physical activity and the combination of different therapeutic concepts.

Critical Anthropology? To the Relationship between Philosophical Anthropology and Critical Theory
(2016)
This article compares Max Horkheimer’s and Theodor W. Adorno’s foundation of the Frankfurt Critical Theory with Helmuth Plessner’s foundation of Philosophical Anthropology. While Horkheimer’s and Plessner’s paradigms are mutually incompatible, Adorno’s „negative dialectics“ and Plessner’s „negative anthropology“ (G. Gamm) can be seen as complementing one another. Jürgen Habermas at one point sketched a complementary relationship between his own publicly communicative theory of modern society and Plessner’s philosophy of nature and human expressivity, and though he then came to doubt this, he later reaffirmed it. Faced with the „life power“ in „high capitalism“ (Plessner), the ambitions for a public democracy in a pluralistic society have to be broadened from an argumentative focus (Habermas) to include the human condition and the expressive modes of our experience as essentially embodied persons. The article discusses some possible aspects of this complementarity under the title of a „critical anthropology“ (H. Schnädelbach).
The construction of a low-cost potentiostat and an electrochemical cell are described. Both have been used for the potentiostatic deposition of conducting polymers on FTO-coated glass. According to a reported procedure from literature an electrochromic window has been prepared and tested. Furthermore a novel window containing an additional electrodeposited polymer layer that shows a more pronounced electrochromism than the literature example is described for the first time. The required chemicals are inexpensive as well as the entire electrochemical equipment.

Das „Startprojekt“
(2016)
How does the selection of a classical language at school affect prospects on the labor market? Even though research on the impact of horizontal educational inequalities on labor market outcomes has become prominent recently, this question has not yet attracted scholarly attention. Based on several differing approaches (Human Capital Theory, Signaling Theory, Homophily Principle), hypotheses are derived about the impact of the language profile at school on labor market prospects at career entry. To test these assumptions, a field experiment was conducted in which applications were submitted in response to job advertisements. Results show that choosing Latin and Ancient Greek has a positive impact on the chances of being invited to a job interview.
Unipolar depressive disorders in adolescence are common, lead to serious impairments and are often associated with comorbid disorders and a high risk for suicide. Thus, recognition and early treatment of depressive disorders are important. International and national treatment guidelines show that effective treatment approaches for prevention and acute therapy of depressive disorders are available. Based on current evidence and consensus-based guidelines, such as the Association of the Scientific Medical Societies in Germany (AWMF) S3 treatment guidelines for unipolar depressive disorders in children and adolescents, state of the art diagnostic procedures and treatment recommendations are proposed. Diagnostic procedures and differential diagnoses as well as differential indications and treatment planning are reported in detail. In the treatment section the focus is on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which is currently the best evaluated psychological treatment form for depressive disorders in children and adolescents.
September 1836, an Carl Friedrich Gauß schickte.
