We consider a class of ergodic Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equations, related to large time asymptotics of non-smooth multiplicative functional of difusion processes. Under suitable ergodicity assumptions on the underlying difusion, we show existence of these asymptotics, and that they solve the related HJB equation in the viscosity sense.
Communication, simulation, interactive narrative and ubiquitous computing are widely accepted as perspectives in humancomputer interaction. This paper proposes play as another possible perspective. Everyday uses of the computer increasingly show signs of similarity to play. This is not discussed with regard to the so-called media society, the playful society, the growing cultural acceptance of the computer, the spread of computer games or a new version of Windows, but in view of the playful character of interaction with the computer that has always been part of it. The exploratory learning process involved with new software and the creative tasks that are often undertaken when using the computer may support this argument. Together with its high level of interactivity, these observations point to a sense of security, autonomy and freedom of the user that produce play and are, in turn, produced by play. This notion of play refers not to the playing of computer games, but to an implicit, abstract (or symbolic) process based on a certain attitude, the play spirit. This attitude is discussed regarding everyday computer use and related to the other mentioned perspectives.
A multitype Dawson-Watanabe process is conditioned, in subcritical and critical cases, on non-extinction in the remote future. On every finite time interval, its distribution is absolutely continuous with respect to the law of the unconditioned process. A martingale problem characterization is also given. Several results on the long time behavior of the conditioned mass process - the conditioned multitype Feller branching diffusion - are then proved. The general case is first considered, where the mutation matrix which models the interaction between the types, is irreducible. Several two-type models with decomposable mutation matrices are analyzed too .
A multitype Dawson-Watanabe process is conditioned, in subcritical and critical cases, on non-extinction in the remote future. On every nite time interval, its distribution law is absolutely continuous with respect to the law of the unconditioned process. A martingale problem characterization is also given. The explicit form of the Laplace functional of the conditioned process is used to obtain several results on the long time behaviour of the mass of the conditioned and unconditioned processes. The general case is considered first, where the mutation matrix which modelizes the interaction between the types, is irreducible. Several two-type models with decomposable mutation matrices are also analysed.
The paper deals with a non-linear singular partial differential equation: (E) t∂/∂t = F(t, x, u, ∂u/∂x) in the holomorphic category. When (E) is of Fuchsian type, the existence of the unique holomorphic solution was established by Gérard-Tahara [2]. In this paper, under the assumption that (E) is of totally characteristic type, the authors give a sufficient condition for (E) to have a unique holomorphic solution. The result is extended to higher order case.

The higher education structure in Malaysia has experienced significant changes since the implementation of the Private Higher Educational Institutions Act of 1996. The unprecedented expansion of the higher education sector and the increasing autonomy conferred to universities have created a huge demand for competent university leadership that supports the development of higher education in Malaysia. This article discusses the very first national multiplication training in Malaysia in 2014 and analyses such out-comes as the identification of good practices for future initiatives and applications in university leadership training.
We study the time variability of emission lines in three WNE stars : WR 2 (WN2), WR 3 (WN3ha) and WR152 (WN3). While WR 2 shows no variability above the noise level, the other stars do show variation, which are like other WR stars in WR 152 but very fast in WR 3. From these motions, we deduce a value of β ∼1 for WR 3 that is like that seen in O stars and β ∼2–3 for WR 152, that is intermediate between other WR stars and WR 3.
Before GAIA improves the HIPPARCOS survey, direct determination of the distance via parallax is only possible for γ Vel, but the analysis of the cluster or association to which WR stars are associated can give distances with a 50% to a 10% accuracy. The list of Galactic clusters, associations and clusters/association candidates has grown significantly in the last decade with the numerous deep, high resolution surveys of the Milky Way. In this work, we revisit the fundamental parameters of known clusters with WR stars, and we present the search for new ones. All our work is based on the catalogs from the VVV (from the VISTA telescope) and the UKIDS (from the UKIRT telescope) near infrared surveys. Finally, the relations between the fundamental parameters of clusters with WR stars are explored.
Carbon-rich Wolf-Rayet stars are efficient carbon dust makers. Despite the strong evidence for dust formation in these objects provided by infrared thermal emission from dust, the routes to nucleation and condensation and the physical conditions required for dust production are still poorly understood. We discuss here the potential routes to carbon dust and the possible locations conducive to dust formation in the colliding winds of WC binaries.
