Im nachfolgenden Beitrag wird die Frage diskutiert, welche Strukturveränderungen Städte durch klimapolitisch motivierte Stadtplanung und -gestaltung erfahren. Es wird gezeigt, dass selbst tiefgreifende Veränderungen der bestehenden Stadtstrukturen durch Resuburbanisierung und durch das Prinzip der räumlichen Konzentration von Arbeiten und Wohnen nur marginale – wenn überhaupt – Beiträge zu den sogenannten "Klimazielen" leisten, wobei diese in der Klimaforschung nicht unumstritten sind, da der kausale Zusammenhang zwischen Klimaänderung und anthropogenen Emissionen nicht eindeutig geklärt ist.
In der Neuen Ökonomischen Geographie wird üblicherweise Symmetrie der betrachteten Regionen und Sektoren unterstellt. In diesem Beitrag wird untersucht, wie Asymmetrien in diesen Modellen berücksichtigt werden können und welche zusätzlichen Erkenntnisse sich daraus ableiten lassen. Es werden dazu in vier grundlegenden Modellen zunächst Asymmetrien modelliert, durch Simulation die möglichen Gleichgewichte bestimmt und anschließend die Unterschiede zum jeweiligen Basismodell diskutiert.
In diesem Beitrag wird die Profitabilität und Wohlfahrtseffekte einer horizontalen Unternehmensfusion in einem räumlichen Wettbewerbsmodell mit asymmetrischer Nachfrage untersucht. Die Untersuchung wird für drei Unternehmen durchgeführt, von denen zwei miteinander fusionieren und eins unabhängig von dem fusionierten Unternehmen agiert. Die Standardtheorie über Unternehmensfusionen impliziert, dass Fusionen auf Grund des “business stealing effect” in integrierten Märkten häufig nicht profitabel sind. Die Resultate der Analyse im räumlichen Modell mit asymmetrischer Nachfragestruktur zeigen, dass dies in diesem Modellrahmen nicht zwingend so ist; eine Unternehmensfusion kann profitabel und wohlfahrtssteigernd sein, falls der Transportkostensatz relativ hoch ist und die Märkte eine nicht zu asymmetrische Größe aufweisen.
Die vorliegende Untersuchung gibt einen Ausblick auf Prognosemöglichkeiten mit dynamischen Strukturgleichungsmodellen. Die Analyse komplexer Systeme mit umfangreichen Datensätzen und die Erkennung relevanter Muster erfordern die Verwendung moderner statistischer Verfahren. DPLS-Modelle, eine Variante der Strukturgleichungsmodelle mit Latenten Variablen, werden methodisch erweitert, um mehrere zeitliche Verzögerungsstufen gleichzeitig modellieren zu können. Die Modelle versuchen, zahlreiche latente Einflussfaktoren und ihre Wechselwirkungen zu identifizieren. Als Daten werden rund 80 Indikatoren aus 20 Quellen verwendet, um Stimmungen, Erwartungen und wirtschaftlich relevanten Größen zu operationalisieren und zeitliche Prognosemöglichkeiten zu evaluieren. Für kürzere Zeiträume von sechs Monaten sind Stimmungen und Erwartungen die besten verfügbaren Prognosevariablen. Dieser Beitrag ist entstanden im Rahmen eines Vortrages im gemeinsamen Forschungsseminar mit der Staatlichen Universität für Wirtschaft und Finanzen Sankt Petersburg Finec im Dezember 2010.
Der Artikel liefert einen Beitrag zur Ermittlung von Bildungsrenditen. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Humankapitalverzinsung für Deutschland insgesamt, im Ost-West-Vergleich sowie in einer regionalen Analyse möglichst unverzerrt zu schätzen. Die Robustheit der Ergebnisse wird mit verschiedenen Methoden verifiziert. Als Resultat ergibt sich eine durchschnittliche Rendite für ein zusätzliches Jahr Schulbildung von ca. 8 %. Im direkten Ost-West-Vergleich kann für die neuen Bundesländer eine deutlich höhere Rendite ermittelt werden. Eine weitere Separierung auf Bundesländer zeigt auch innerhalb der Ost- und Westregionen Heterogenitäten.
