Dieser Band knüpft an die repräsentative Dokumentation des Fortbildungsprojektes Belcantare Brandenburg. Jedes Kind kann singen! für musikunterrichtende Grundschullehrkräfte im Land Brandenburg und seine begleitendende Evaluationsforschung an. Inhaltlicher Schwerpunkt dieses Bandes ist die Vorstellung der explorativen Evaluationsstudie mit ihren sensiblen Konzepten, Fragenstellungen, ihrem triangulierenden Forschungsdesign und ausgewählten Forschungsergebnissen aus den Staffeln 1 und 2.
Die fachdidaktischen, musikpsychologischen und methodischen Kontexte der Evaluationsforschung werden durch Fachartikel entsprechender Autoren in diesem Band transparent und bereichern ihn im besonderen Maße. Die Mitwirkung von Studierenden am Forschungsprozess erforderte Anwendungsleitfäden zur methodischen Handhabung verschiedener Erhebungsinstrumente und Auswertungsmethoden zu entwickeln, denen hier der Raum zur Veröffentlichung gegeben wurde.
Was veranlasste die an „Belcantare Brandenburg“ beteiligten Bildungsinstitutionen, dieses Projekt zu verwirklichen? Sind ländliche und städtische Singprojekte gleichermaßen zu planen? Wie wirksam war und ist „Belcantare Brandenburg“? Diesen u. a. Fragen widmet sich die repräsentative Dokumentation, die im Rahmen der wissenschaftlichen Begleitung des Projektes durch den Lehrstuhl Musikpädagogik und Musikdidaktik der Universität Potsdam entstanden ist. Vorderstes Anliegen war es hierbei, die erarbeiteten Fragestellungen aus unterschiedlichen Forschungsperspektiven zu beantworten. An dieser Forschungsarbeit wirkten Studierende mit und reflektierten in ihren wissenschaftlichen Qualifikationsarbeiten im Projekt erschlossene theoretische und praktische Erfahrungen zum Singen in der Grundschule. „Belcantare Brandenburg“ ist ein Singprojekt zur Fortbildung für Grundschullehrerinnen und Grundschullehrer, das mit freundlicher Unterstützung der Ostdeutschen Sparkassenstiftung und der Sparkasse Uckermark über einen Zeitraum von zwei Jahren die Qualität der Singarbeit von Lehrkräften aus der Uckermark zielgerichtet weiterentwickelte.

Das Bildungsgesetz der spanischen Regierung aus dem Jahre 2013 (sp. LOMCE) gilt als Todesstoß für künstlerische Fächer an allgemein bildenden Schulen: Erst 1990 als Pflichtfach eingeführt, wird Musik nun nur noch als Wahlfach angeboten. Auch die Musiklehrerausbildung an den Hochschulen verzeichnet massive Einbußen. Besonders irritierend daran ist, dass die betroffenen Universitätsgremien zu dieser politischen Entscheidung nicht gehört wurden. Damit verschwindet in Spanien das Studienfach Lehramt Musik je nach Universität nach nicht einmal 18 bis 20 Jahren aus dem Studienangebot.
Die zweiteilige Publikation „Musikarbeit im Kontext von Inklusion und Integration“ der Potsdamer Schriftenreihe zur Musikpädagogik beinhaltet Erträge aus Veranstaltungen und Qualifikationsarbeiten mehrerer Jahre, die am Lehrstuhl für Musikpädagogik und Musikdidaktik der Universität Potsdam entstanden sind. Beide Bände enthalten neben theoretischen Beiträgen auch Beiträge aus Praxis und Ausbildung in verschiedenen Berufsfeldern, die das besondere Potenzial musikalischer Betätigung für Inklusion und Integration anhand von best-practise-Beispielen darstellen und sind somit als umfassendes Studienmaterial konzipiert.
Der zweite Band erweitert den im ersten Teil auf die Potenziale von Musik für Inklusion gesetzten Schwerpunkt um die Darstellung integrativer und inklusiver Potenziale einzelner ausgewählter musikalischer Aktivitäten und Umgangsweisen mit Musik. Stand im ersten Band die Dokumentation der 2013 am Lehrstuhl für Musikpädagogik und Musikdidaktik durchgeführten internationalen Fachtagung „Musikarbeit im Kontext von Inklusion und Integration“ im Fokus, schließt der zweite Teil mit der Dokumentation eines interdisziplinär und mehrperspektivisch angelegten Projektseminars an, das im Wintersemester 2016/2017 unter der Leitung von Prof. Dr. Birgit Jank durchgeführt wurde. Dieses Seminar setzte neue Impulse für die Entstehung weiterer musikpädagogischer Forschungsarbeiten, aus denen konkrete Handlungsempfehlungen für die Musikarbeit in integrativen und inklusiven Unterrichtssettings abgeleitet werden können.
