Auf der Grundlage psycholinguistischer, deutsch-didaktischer und linguistischer Forschungsergebnisse wurde ein Lesetraining auf Silbenbasis entwickelt, in dem Kindern mit Leseschwierigkeiten explizit Strategien zur visuellen Gliederung von Wörtern in größere funktionale Einheiten (Silben, einzelne Wörter (bei Zusammensetzungen), Präfixe) vermittelt werden. Es wird davon ausgegangen, dass Kinder mit Leseschwierigkeiten Wörter in zu kleinen linguistischen Einheiten erlesen. Das Training basiert linguistisch auf der Schreibsilbe als funktionaler Einheit beim Lesen. Basis des Lesetrainings ist ein von Scheerer-Neumann (1981) durchgeführtes Training zur Verbesserung der Lesegenauigkeit von Grundschulkindern. Die empirische Überprüfung des Lesetrainings hatte zum einen das Ziel, die Wirksamkeit des Trainingsprogramms als solches zu überprüfen und zum anderen, ob das Training zu einer deutlich verbesserten Lesegeschwindigkeit und -genauigkeit bei Grundschulkindern der 3. und 4. Klassen führt. Das Training wurde von der Autorin ohne den Einsatz von Hilfskräften mit einer relativ kleinen Zahl von Kindern (N=11) durchgeführt, um so intensiv auf die Bedürfnisse der einzelnen Kinder eingehen und gegebenenfalls flexibel reagieren zu können. Aus organisatorischen und ethischen Gründen wurde auf eine Kontrollgruppe verzichtet. Die Wirksamkeit des Trainings wurde als Prätest-Training-Posttest-Follow-up Test-Design überprüft. Das Training umfasst 18 Einheiten (je 45 Minuten) und fand zweimal wöchentlich statt. Trainingsgruppen bestanden aus einer Dreiergruppe und einer Zweiergruppe; die anderen sechs Kinder wurden einzeln trainiert. Der Posttest nach Abschluss des Trainings zeigte deutliche Verbesserungen der Lesegeschwindigkeit und -genauigkeit, die zum Teil auch signifikant waren. Der Follow-up Test drei Monate nach Ende des Trainings zeigte weitere Verbesserungen, die ebenfalls zum Teil signifikant waren. Die Befunde sprechen dafür, dass das Trainingsprogramm geeignet ist, die Lesefähigkeit von leseschwachen Grundschulkindern der dritten und vierten Klasse zu verbessern. Die Teilnehmerzahl ist allerdings relativ gering, so dass die Ergebnisse nicht ohne weiteres auf die allgemeine Population von Kindern mit Leseschwierigkeiten übertragen werden können. Eine erneute Durchführung des Trainingsprogramms mit einer größeren Stichprobe und einer parallelisierten Kontrollgruppe, bei der die Kinder der Experimentalgruppe in größeren Gruppen trainiert werden, erscheint deshalb sinnvoll.
Das Ziel der Arbeit ist die Darstellung der preußischen Mittelschule für den Zeitraum von 1872 bis 1945. Neben der strukturell-curricularen Entwicklung dieser Schulform werden die Bereiche ‚Chemieunterricht’ und ‚Lehrerausbildung’ schwerpunktmäßig untersucht. Vorgeschaltet ist eine Analyse und Darstellung der zur Mittelschule hinführenden Entwicklung mit ihren politischen, wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Bedingungen. Die für die Strukturierung der Arbeit gewählte Phaseneinteilung orientiert an den bildungspolitischen Zäsuren, die durch die jeweiligen staatlichen ‚Bestimmungen’ charakterisiert sind. Mit diesen in den Jahren 1872, 1910, 1925, 1938 und 1942 vorgelegten Bestimmungen wurde das Mittelschulwesen jeweils neu geordnet. Schwerpunkt der benutzten Quellen ist, die Verbandszeitschrift der Mittelschullehrer, die „Die Mittelschule“. Weiter wurden zeitgenössische Quellen und Literatur sowie pädagogische Zeitschriften für die Analysen benutzt. Untersuchungsschwerpunkt ist die Darstellung der preußischen Mittelschule unter dem Aspekt der bildungspolitischen Institutionalisierung im Jahre 1872. Ein weiterer Untersuchungsschwerpunkt ist der Chemieunterricht. Als bedeutungsvoll für diesen Unterricht müssen die Diskussionen im Untersuchungszeitraum gesehen werden, die über inhaltliche Fragen und die methodische Gestaltung des Unterrichts geführt wurden. Der Einsatz der Schulbücher wird hierbei besonders berücksichtigt. Die Situation der Lehrer wird unter dem Aspekt ihrer Ausbildung untersucht. Als Mittelschullehrer wurden vornehmlich Volksschullehrer eingesetzt, die sich autodidaktisch auf die Prüfung zum Mittelschullehrer vorbereiten mussten. Die Verweigerung einer identitätsstiftenden schulformbezogenen Lehrerausbildung hat der Mittelschule die Möglichkeit genommen, sich frühzeitig zu einer selbständig-unabhängigen Schulform zu entwickeln. Bedeutungsvoll ist das festgestellte Verhalten der Lehrerschaft dieser Schulform in den unterschiedlichen politischen Systemen. In den zeitlichen Phasen steht die Mittelschule als eine zwischen Elementarschule und Gymnasium sich emanzipierende Schulform. Die Ambivalenz in der Stellung äußert sich in dem wechselvollen Verhalten zwischen Standesschule und Öffnung für andere gesellschaftliche Schichten. Im Zusammenhang mit der Verweigerung der Berechtigungen muss die Mittelschule als Anstalt zur Befriedigung der Bildungsansprüche mittlerer Schichten gesehen werden. Sie wurde aber auch als schulischer Abwehrmechanismus der oberen Schichten gegenüber unteren gesellschaftlichen Schichten instrumentalisiert.
Qualitätsentwicklung und Evaluation in der Lehrerbildung : die zweite Phase: Das Referendariat

Die allgemein gestiegene Nachfrage nach empirischen Qualitätsbeurteilungen von Bildungsaktivitäten hat auch in der Lehrerbildung zahlreiche Forschungsaktivitäten ausgelöst. Die zweite Phase der Lehrerbildung (sog. Vorbereitungsdienst bzw. Referendariat) - lange Zeit als der "vergessene Teil der Lehrerbildung" angesehen - ist dabei zunehmend ins Blickfeld geraten, nachdem sich der Fokus zunächst eher auf die erste, universitäre Phase bezog. Die zweite Phase der Lehrerbildung dient vor allem dem Ziel, den angehenden Lehrerinnen und Lehrern Gelegenheit zu geben, professionsbezogene Handlungsroutinen aufzubauen, die sie in die Lage versetzen, im Alltag des Lehrberufs situationsangemessen zu arbeiten und zu reagieren. Aus diesem Anspruch ergeben sich verschiedene Qualitätsanforderungen, die an die Lehrerausbildung und hier insbesondere die zweite Phase zu stellen sind. Der vorliegende Band versucht, sich der Frage der Qualität der Lehrerausbildung aus zwei Perspektiven zu nähern: zum einen aus einer eher inhaltlich-analytischen und zum anderen aus einer eher methodologischen bzw. methodischen Perspektive. Bei der inhaltlich-analytischen Sichtweise geht es um Konzepte, Methoden, Themen und Dimensionen von Qualität, um unterschiedliche Zugänge bei der Erforschung von Qualität in der Lehrerbildung, um den Praxistransfer von Evaluationsergebnissen und - nicht zuletzt - um Untersuchungsbefunde zu verschiedenen Qualitätsbereichen, z.B. zu Stärken und Schwächen des Vorbereitungsdienstes, zu Kompetenzen von Lehramtskandidatinnen und Lehramtskandidaten oder zur Ausbildungsqualität. Darüber hinaus stellt sich die Frage nach der "probaten" (Evaluations-) Methodologie, die für die Erfassung und Beurteilung der genannten Qualitätsparameter eingesetzt wird. Welche Qualitätsaspekte sind für die entsprechenden Einschätzungen relevant und welche Reichweite haben Aussagen, die über die Qualität des "Evaluandums zweite Ausbildungsphase" gemacht werden bzw. welchen Limitationen unterliegen diese? Die Studie untersucht Einflussfaktoren des vorzeitigen Studienabbruchs. Dabei wird auf die Frage eingegangen, inwieweit die Universitäten für das Studienabbruchgeschehen zur Verantwortung gezogen werden können, bzw. ob sich die verschiedenen Abbruchmotivationen auf Gründe zurückführen lassen, die sich ihrem Einfluss entziehen. Möglichkeiten der Prävention werden diskutiert.

Die Website beinhaltet ausgewählte Werke Max Webers im Volltext.Die Potsdamer Internet-Ausgabe "PIA" folgt den alten Ausgaben der zwanziger Jahre (den "Marianne-Ausgaben"), die auch dem größten Teil der bisherigen Weber-Forschung zugrundeliegen. Das Projekt, Webers Werke der EDV zugänglich zu machen, entstand zunächst aus dem Bedürfnis nach neuen Registern. Wir arbeiten in der Erziehungswissenschaft. Für diesen Bereich sind die bisher verfügbaren Register ganz unzulänglich. Dem ist nun abgeholfen. Künftig können Weber-Interessierte aller Disziplinen ihre eigenen Register erstellen. Alle folgenden Texte können heruntergeladen und zur Schlagwort- und Zitatensuche, aber, versteht sich, auch zu anspruchsvolleren Inhaltsanalysen, sprachlichen Untersuchungen und anderen Vorhaben mithilfe spezieller Programme weiter bearbeitet werden. Die Auswahl der hier aufgenommenen Werke hat keine systematischen Gründe. Wir wollten einen Anfang machen und haben uns auf diejenigen Texte beschränkt, die uns in alten Ausgaben zur Hand waren, weil die jüngeren Ausgaben urheberrechtlich geschützt sind. Wichtiges fehlt: die Börsenschriften, "Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft", die Konfuzianismusstudie, die Musiksoziologie, die Schriften zur Russischen Revolution und andere.
