Christian Suckow beschreibt Humboldts kurzen, zweitägigen Aufenthalt an dem Ort, der Ausgangs- und Endpunkt der Exkursion zur Silbergrube Zyrjanovsk im südwestlichen Altai und nach Baty an die chinesische Grenze war.
