Die FFH-Verträglichkeitsprüfung : Unterschiede gegenüber der UVP und zusätzliche Anforderungen

  • EIA (Envoronmental Impact Assessment) and FFH Impact Assessment are two independent legal instruments which serve the assessment and evaluation of environmental impacts. The paper discusses the esentail differences between them with rspect to their areas of application, legal consequences and examination scope. In preparing an impact assessment study attention has to be given to the particular focus of the FFH guidelines and its associates legal provisions. This focus is concerned with the protection of certain specis and habitats, the safeguarding of the coherency of the network "Natura 2000" (a Europe-wide system of protected areas) as well as the consideration of criterai as derived from the retention goals for the respective European protected area, as criteria for recording and evaluation.
