The Schwarzenberg mining district in the western Erzgebirge hosts numerous skarn-hosted tin-polymetallic deposits, such as Breitenbrunn. The St. Christoph mine is located in the Breitenbrunn deposit and is the locus typicus of christophite, an iron-rich sphalerite variety, which can be associated with indium enrichment. This study presents a revision of the paragenetic scheme, a contribution to the indium behavior and potential, and discussion on the origin of the sulfur. This was achieved through reflected light microscopy, SEM-based MLA, EPMA, and bulk mineral sulfur isotope analysis on 37 sulfide-rich skarn samples from a mineral collection. The paragenetic scheme includes: a pre-mineralization stage of anhydrous calc-silicates and hydrous minerals; an oxide stage, dominated by magnetite; a sulfide stage of predominantly sphalerite, minor pyrite, chalcopyrite, arsenopyrite, and galena. Some sphalerite samples present elevated indium contents of up to 0.44 wt%. Elevated iron contents (4-10 wt%) in sphalerite can be tentatively linked to increased indium incorporation, but further analyses are required. Analyzed sulfides exhibit homogeneous delta S-34 values (-1 to +2 parts per thousand VCDT), assumed to be post-magmatic. They correlate with other Fe-Sn-Zn-Cu-In skarn deposits in the western Erzgebirge, and Permian vein-hosted associations throughout the Erzgebirge region.
The numerical prediction of radiative transport is a challenging task due to the complexity of the radiative transport equation. We apply the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM), originally developed for fluid flow problems, to solve the radiative transport in volume. One model (meso RTLBM) is derived directly from a discretization of the radiative transport equation, yielding in a precise but numerical costly scheme. The second model (macro RTLBM) solves the Helmholtz equation, which is a proper approximation for highly scattering volumes. Both numerical algorithms are validated against Monte-Carlo data for a set of 35 optical parameters, which correspond to radiative transport ranging from ballistic to diffuse regimes. Together with a set of four benchmark simulations, the comprehensive validation concludes the overall quality and detects asymptotic trends for radiative transport LBM. Furthermore, an accuracy map is presented, which summarizes the error for all parameters. This graph allows to determine the validity range for both radiative transport LBM at a glance. Finally, comprehensive guidelines are formulated to facilitate the choice of the radiative transport LBM model.
Criteria-Based Content Analysis (Steller & Kohnken, 1989) is part of a method used for assessing the credibility of witness statements. One underlying assumption of CBCA is that deceivers will leave out certain contents that they believe will damage their self-image. Recent studies on content-related deceptive strategies of children and adults support this assumption. Nevertheless, results concerning certain motivation-related contents (self-deprecation, pardoning the perpetrator) were inconsistent with this assumption. However, previous studies have dealt with issues other than sexual offense and therefore were of limited external validity concerning specific forensic issues. The aim of this study was to investigate the value of content characteristics with regard to false statements in rape cases. Female non-student adults (N = 120) were given a standardized questionnaire which targeted participants' content- related deception strategies. Results show differences in the strategic value of content characteristics. Moreover, strategies of deception seem to strongly depend on the type of event assessed
