A series of new 2 2'-bipyridine/1 2-dithiolate transition metal complexes has been synthesised and characterised As 1,2-dithiolate ligands 1,2 dithiooxalate (dto) and 1 2-dithiosquarate (dtsq) were used It follows from the IR spectra that the multidentate dithiolate ligands coordinate exclusively via their sulfur atoms forming an MN2S2 coordination sphere The central metal ions (M) are Cu2+ Ni2+ Pd2+ Pt2+, and Zn2+ The complex [Cu-II(bpy)(dto)] could be studied by EPR spectroscopy and was measured as powder diamagnetically diluted in the isostructural [Ni-II(bpy)(dto)] host structure The spin density contribution calculated from the experimental parameters is compared with the electronic situation in the frontier orbitals namely in the semi occupied SOMO of the copper complex derived from quantum chemical calculations on different levels (EHT and DFT)

A list of rare or interesting phanerogams from Potsdam and surroundings is presented. Most of them were recorded between 2006 and 2008. In some cases short remarks about the taxonomy, distribution and other details are given. The collections of Geranium purpureum and Parietaria judaica are the first records for Brandenburg. The collections of Agastache foeniculum, Coreopsis lanceolata, Geranium nodosum, Hieracium amplexicaule, Juncus ensifolius, Lactuca virosa, Sedum sarmentosum and Verbena bonariensis are probably the first information about adventive occurences of these species in this Federal State. Viscum album is reported on rare host species: Chaenomelis sp., Quercus spp. and Rosa hybrids.
This paper focuses on the religious background of lawgiving and its mythical models in books I-IV of the Laws. This latest of Plato's Works deals with the main tasks of a legislator in the ideal political community. In this dialogue, the lawgiver (nomothetes) is the heir of a long Greek tradition with mythical and historical forerunners (Solon, Lycurgus, Epimenides, etc.) who had a special relation with the divinity. Perhaps the best example of this kind of divine lawgiver is Minos, who was able of knowing the Gods' will and received from them the holy laws. In that aspect, Plato depends on the legendary nomothetai from myth and dwells heavily in oracular procedures as a way of communication with divinity and acquisition of decrees or confirmation of laws. If our view is correct, the model for the best possible constitution comes from Divine Wisdom (i.e. Philosophy) through oracular mediation from their mythical origins in Crete and Egypt. The medium between Gods and Men and its mantic practices - as the holy men (theioi andres) from myth and archaic Greek politics - seems a key figure for a better understanding of Plato's most complex dialogue.
