Conversion with Adobe Acrobat (from version 7)
Use the following Adobe-Acrobat settings for the creation of a PDF file:
-
PDF/A- / PDF/X conversion with Adobe Acrobat PDF Maker:
Word navigation bar: Adobe PDF --> Change conversion settings --> change PDF Maker settings from standard to PDF/X-3:2002 (PDF optimised for print) or PDF/A-1b:2005 (RGB) (PDF optimised for online publications). -
PDF/A- / PDF/X conversion with Adobe Acrobat Distiller:
Edit --> Basic settings --> Category: Convert into PDF --> Button Change settings: Adobe PDF settings: PDF/X-3:2002 (PDF optimised for print) or PDF/A-1b:2005 (RGB) (PDF optimised for online publications).
You can also use the Distiller for the creation of PDF files from other programs, as for example for exporting charts to PDF.
Conversion with the tool PDFCreator
As an alternative to the proprietary Adobe Acrobat we recommend the PDFCreator which has been published under a free licence.
Download under:
http://www.pdfforge.org/products/pdfcreator
The PDF creation takes place, as with the Acrobat Distiller, via a printer driver.
For creating a PDF in Word, select "Print" under the menu item "File" and choose the printer "PDFCreator" in the dialogue --> "Save" in the dialogue of the PDFCreator --> choosing a format: PDF/X (PDF optimised for print) or PDF/A (PDF optimised for online publications).
You can also use the tool for the creation of PDF files from other programs, as for example for exporting charts to PDF.
