  abstract  = {Nuclear lamins are nucleus-specific intermediate filaments (IF) found at the inner nuclear membrane (INM) of the nuclear envelope (NE). Together with nuclear envelope transmembrane proteins, they form the nuclear lamina and are crucial for gene regulation and mechanical robustness of the nucleus and the whole cell. Recently, we characterized Dictyostelium NE81 as an evolutionarily conserved lamin-like protein, both on the sequence and functional level. Here, we show on the structural level that the Dictyostelium NE81 is also capable of assembling into filaments, just as metazoan lamin filament assemblies. Using field-emission scanning electron microscopy, we show that NE81 expressed in Xenopous oocytes forms filamentous structures with an overall appearance highly reminiscent of Xenopus lamin B2. The in vitro assembly properties of recombinant His-tagged NE81 purified from Dictyostelium extracts are very similar to those of metazoan lamins. Super-resolution stimulated emission depletion (STED) and expansion microscopy (ExM), as well as transmission electron microscopy of negatively stained purified NE81, demonstrated its capability of forming filamentous structures under low-ionic-strength conditions. These results recommend Dictyostelium as a non-mammalian model organism with a well-characterized nuclear envelope involving all relevant protein components known in animal cells.},

  abstract  = {A putative phosphatase, LSF1 (for LIKE SEX4; previously PTPKIS2), is closely related in sequence and structure to STARCH-EXCESS4 (SEX4), an enzyme necessary for the removal of phosphate groups from starch polymers during starch degradation in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) leaves at night. We show that LSF1 is also required for starch degradation: lsf1 mutants, like sex4 mutants, have substantially more starch in their leaves than wild-type plants throughout the diurnal cycle. LSF1 is chloroplastic and is located on the surface of starch granules. lsf1 and sex4 mutants show similar, extensive changes relative to wild-type plants in the expression of sugar-sensitive genes. However, although LSF1 and SEX4 are probably both involved in the early stages of starch degradation, we show that LSF1 neither catalyzes the same reaction as SEX4 nor mediates a sequential step in the pathway. Evidence includes the contents and metabolism of phosphorylated glucans in the single mutants. The sex4 mutant accumulates soluble phospho- oligosaccharides undetectable in wild-type plants and is deficient in a starch granule-dephosphorylating activity present in wild-type plants. The lsf1 mutant displays neither of these phenotypes. The phenotype of the lsf1/sex4 double mutant also differs from that of both single mutants in several respects. We discuss the possible role of the LSF1 protein in starch degradation.},

  abstract  = {Der Arbeitskreis Milit{\"a}r und Gesellschaft in der Fr{\"u}hen Neuzeit e. V. wurde im Fr{\"u}hjahr 1995 gegr{\"u}ndet. Er hat es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, die Erforschung des Milit{\"a}rs im Rahmen der fr{\"u}hneuzeitlichen Geschichte zu bef{\"o}rdern und zugleich das Bewusstsein der Fr{\"u}hneuzeit-HistorikerInnen f{\"u}r die Bedeutung des Milit{\"a}rs in all seinen Funktionen zu wecken. Das Milit{\"a}r steht somit als soziale Gruppe selbst im Mittelpunkt der Aktivit{\"a}ten des Arbeitskreises, wird aber auch in seinen Wirkungen und Repr{\"a}sentationen thematisiert. Ziel ist es, die Rolle des Milit{\"a}rs als Teil der fr{\"u}hneuzeitlichen Gesellschaft umfassend herauszuarbeiten und zu w{\"u}rdigen. Insofern versteht der AMG seine Arbeit nicht nur als Beitrag zur Milit{\"a}rgeschichte, sondern vor allem als Beitrag zur Geschichte der Fr{\"u}hen Neuzeit insgesamt.   abstract  = {"Bad" data has a direct impact on 88\% of companies, with the average company losing 12\% of its revenue due to it. Duplicates - multiple but different representations of the same real-world entities are among the main reasons for poor data quality, so finding and configuring the right deduplication solution is essential. Existing data matching benchmarks focus on the quality of matching results and neglect other important factors, such as business requirements. Additionally, they often do not support the exploration of data matching results. To address this gap between the mere counting of record pairs vs. a comprehensive means to evaluate data matching solutions, we present the Frost platform. It combines existing benchmarks, established quality metrics, cost and effort metrics, and exploration techniques, making it the first platform to allow systematic exploration to understand matching results. Frost is implemented and published in the open-source application Snowman, which includes the visual exploration of matching results, as shown in Figure 1.},
