In some languages, such as English, word order is the primary syntactic cue. In other languages, such as German, case-marking is additionally used to assign thematic roles. During development children have to acquire the thematic relevance of these syntactic cues and weigh them against semantic cues. Here we investigated the processing of syntactic cues and semantic cues in 2- and 3-year-old children by analyzing their behavioral and neurophysiological responses. Case-marked subject-first and object-first sentences (syntactic cue) including animate and inanimate nouns (semantic cue) were presented auditorily. The semantic animacy cue either conflicted with or supported the thematic roles assigned by syntactic case-marking. In contrast to adults, for whom semantics did not interfere with case-marking, children attended to both syntactic and to semantic cues with a stronger reliance on semantic cues in early development. Children's event-related brain potentials indicated sensitivity to syntactic information but increased processing costs when case-marking and animacy assigned conflicting thematic roles. These results demonstrate an early developmental sensitivity and ongoing shift towards the use of syntactic cues during sentence comprehension.}, language = {en} } @article{Behrmann, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Politische Erziehung und Bildung im Kaiserreich}, series = {Konzeptionen, Strategien und Inhaltsfelder politischer Bildung}, journal = {Konzeptionen, Strategien und Inhaltsfelder politischer Bildung}, publisher = {Schneider Verlag Hohengehren GmbH}, address = {Baltmannsweiler}, isbn = {978-3-8340-1725-3}, pages = {24 -- 35}, language = {de} } @article{Behrmann, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Soziales Lernen}, series = {Konzeptionen, Strategien und Inhaltsfelder politischer Bildung}, journal = {Konzeptionen, Strategien und Inhaltsfelder politischer Bildung}, publisher = {Schneider Verlag Hohengehren GmbH}, address = {Baltmannsweiler}, isbn = {978-3-8340-1725-3}, pages = {540 -- 559}, language = {de} } @article{BehrmannOverwien, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C. and Overwien, Bernd}, title = {Globales Lernen}, series = {Konzeptionen, Strategien und Inhaltsfelder politischer Bildung}, journal = {Konzeptionen, Strategien und Inhaltsfelder politischer Bildung}, publisher = {Schneider Verlag Hohengehren GmbH}, address = {Baltmannsweiler}, isbn = {978-3-8340-1725-3}, pages = {663 -- 666}, language = {de} } @misc{Behrmann2004, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Globale Modernisierung : ein "American Dream"?}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:kobv:517-opus-47174}, year = {2004}, abstract = {Daniel Lerner's „The Passing of Traditional Society" of 1958 is still one of the most famous American studies in the field of modernization research. Die Universit{\"a}t Potsdam ist f{\"u}r Studieninteressierte ungebrochen attraktiv, was die steigenden Bewerberzahlen zeigen. Allein im vergangenen Jahr haben Uni-Wissenschaftler knapp 42 Millionen Euro Drittmittel eingeworben und die Liste gemeinsamer Verbundprojekte mit außeruniversit{\"a}ren Forschungseinrichtungen der Region w{\"a}chst weiter. Zu den Erfolgen z{\"a}hlt weiterhin auch die steigende Anzahl von Absolventinnen und Absolventen der Hochschule. In die Gr{\"u}ndung der Universit{\"a}t Potsdam am 15. Juli 1991 flossen zwei Vorg{\"a}ngereinrichtungen ein. Die wichtigste war die Brandenburgische Landeshochschule, vorher P{\"a}dagogische Hochschule, die {\"u}ber vier Jahrzehnte hinweg Lehrerinnen und Lehrer ausgebildet hat. Die Lehrerbildung hat auch f{\"u}r die Universit{\"a}t Potsdam profilbildenden Charakter, denn allein vier der f{\"u}nf Fakult{\"a}ten sind an der Lehrerbildung beteiligt und haben Generationen von jungen Leuten f{\"u}r den Lehrerberuf qualifiziert. Heute ist das Ziel aller an der Lehrerbildung Beteiligten, eine professionsorientierte, qualitativ hochwertige Lehrerbildung zu sichern, die sich an den Kompetenzen Erziehen, Unterrichten, Beraten, Betreuen, Innovieren und Organisieren orientiert. One group received an isoflavone-free diet (IDD). another was fed an isoflavone-rich diet (IRD) and the third group an IDD supplemented with GEN (GEN(d)) prior to mating. throughout pregnancy and up to weaning The offspring were kept on the respective diets during growth. puberty and adulthood The weight of the uterus, the height of the uterine and vaginal epithelium, the bone mineral density of the tibia, and the expression of the estrogen sensitive gene CaBP9K in the liver were determined. At d21, the uterine weight, the uterine epithelium and the expression of CaBP9K in the liver were significantly stimulated in GEN(d) animals compared to IDD and IRD Interestingly, bone mineral density was increased in GEN(d) and in IRD animals Around puberty (d50) neither uterine wet weights nor trabecular bone density differed significantly among the isoflavone groups and the IDD control. At d80 nosignificant differences in uterine weight were observed among IDD. GEN(d) and IRD animals. However, bone mineral density was increased in GEN(d) and IRD animals In summary, Our results demonstrate that lifelong dietary exposure to isoflavones can affect estrogen sensitive tissues, apparently in a tissue selective manner With respect to health risk and benefit our data indicate that an increased bone mineral density can be achieved by lifelong exposure to an IRD. which, in contrast to GEN supplementation, does not seem to stimulate the proliferation of the uterine epithelium}, language = {en} } @article{Behrmann2002, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Politische Bildung}, year = {2002}, language = {de} } @article{Behrmann2001, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Charisma und Vergemeinschaftung im George- und Horkheimer-Kreis : Gemeinsamkeiten und Gegens{\"a}tze}, year = {2001}, language = {de} } @article{Behrmann2001, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Andreas von B{\"u}low}, isbn = {3-531-13407-8}, year = {2001}, language = {de} } @article{Behrmann2001, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Hans Leussink}, year = {2001}, language = {de} } @article{Behrmann2001, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Klaus von Dohnanyi}, year = {2001}, language = {de} } @article{Behrmann2000, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Das amerikanische Bildungswesen}, year = {2000}, language = {de} } @article{Behrmann2000, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Von der Verantwortung der Politiklehrer}, editor = {Villinger, Ingeborg}, publisher = {Rombach}, address = {Freiburg im Breisgau}, isbn = {3-7930-9262-3}, year = {2000}, language = {de} } @misc{Behrmann1999, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Zeitgeschichte}, isbn = {3-87920-043-2}, year = {1999}, language = {de} } @article{Behrmann1999, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Politisch-sozial gesteuertes Lernen}, isbn = {3-89331-359-1}, year = {1999}, language = {de} } @article{Behrmann1999, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Die "Drei-Schulen-Lehre" in den Bildungswissenschaften der Bundesrepublik : zur Entstehungsgeschichte und zum Gebrauch einer Wissenschaftstypologie}, year = {1999}, language = {de} } @misc{Behrmann1999, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Wissenschaftstheorien}, isbn = {3-87920-043-2}, year = {1999}, language = {de} } @misc{Behrmann1999, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Verfassungspatriotismus}, isbn = {3-87920-043-2}, year = {1999}, language = {de} } @misc{Behrmann1999, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Wirksamkeit}, isbn = {3-87920-043-2}, year = {1999}, language = {de} } @misc{Behrmann1999, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Nationalerziehung}, year = {1999}, language = {de} } @phdthesis{AlbrechtBehrmannBocketal.1999, author = {Albrecht, Clemens and Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C. and Bock, Michael and Tenbruck, Friedrich H. and Homann, Harald}, title = {Die intellektuelle Gr{\"u}ndung der Bundesrepublik : eine Wirkungsgeschichte der Frankfurter Schule}, publisher = {Campus Verl.}, address = {Frankfurt}, isbn = {3-593-36214-7}, pages = {649 S.}, year = {1999}, language = {de} } @article{Behrmann1999, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Die Ein{\"u}bung ideologischer und moralischer Sprechakte durch "Stab{\"u}" : zur Pragmatik politischer Erziehung im Schulunterricht der DDR}, year = {1999}, language = {de} } @misc{Behrmann1999, author = {Behrmann, G{\"u}nter C.}, title = {Vorurteil}, isbn = {3-87920-043-2}, year = {1999}, language = {de} } @article{PereiraZehbeGuenteretal.2018, author = {Pereira, Rui F. Objective: The aim of this study was to derive country-specific exploratory dietary patterns, investigate their association with type 2 diabetes incidence, and replicate diabetes-associated dietary patterns in other countries. Methods: Dietary intake data were used, assessed by country-specific questionnaires at baseline of 11,183 incident diabetes cases and 14,694 subcohort members (mean age 52.9 y) from 8 countries, nested within the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition study (mean follow-up time 6.9 y). Exploratory dietary patterns were derived by principal component analysis. HRs for incident type 2 diabetes were calculated by Prentice-weighted Cox proportional hazard regression models. Diabetes-associated dietary patterns were simplified or replicated to be applicable in other countries. A meta-analysis across all countries evaluated the generalizability of the diabetes-association. Results: Two dietary patterns per country/UK-center, of which overall 3 dietary patterns were diabetes-associated, were identified. A risk-lowering French dietary pattern was not confirmed across other countries: pooled HRFrance per 1 SD: 1.00; 95\% CI: 0.90, 1.10. Risk-increasing dietary patterns, derived in Spain and UK-Norfolk, were confirmed, but only the latter statistically significantly: HRSpain: 1.09; 95\% CI: 0.97, 1.22 and HRUK-Norfolk: 1.12; 95\% CI: 1.04, 1.20. Respectively, this dietary pattern was characterized by relatively high intakes of potatoes, processed meat, vegetable oils, sugar, cake and cookies, and tea. Conclusions: Only few country/center-specific dietary patterns (3 of 18) were statistically significantly associated with diabetes incidence in this multicountry European study population. One pattern, whose association with diabetes was confirmed across other countries, showed overlaps in the food groups potatoes and processed meat with identified diabetes-associated dietary patterns from other studies. We derived metabolic signatures of adherence to these guidelines and tested their associations with colorectal cancer risk in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition cohort. METHODS: Scores reflecting adherence to the WCRF/AICR recommendations (scale, 1-5) were calculated from participant data on weight maintenance, physical activity, diet, and alcohol among a discovery set of 5738 cancer-free European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition participants with metabolomics data. Partial least-squares regression was used to derive fatty acid and endogenous metabolite signatures of the WCRF/AICR score in this group. In an independent set of 1608 colorectal cancer cases and matched controls, odds ratios (ORs) and 95\% CIs were calculated for colorectal cancer risk per unit increase in WCRF/AICR score and per the corresponding change in metabolic signatures using multivariable conditional logistic regression. RESULTS: Higher WCRF/AICR scores were characterized by metabolic signatures of increased odd-chain fatty acids, serine, glycine, and specific phosphatidylcholines. Signatures were inversely associated more strongly with colorectal cancer risk (fatty acids: OR, 0.51 per unit increase; 95\% CI, 0.29-0.90; endogenous metabolites: OR, 0.62 per unit change; 95\% CI, 0.50-0.78) than the WCRF/AICR score (OR, 0.93 per unit change; 95\% CI, 0.86-1.00) overall. Signature associations were stronger in male compared with female participants. We estimated the association between HLI changes and CRC risk using Cox regression models and reported hazard ratios (HR) with 95\% confidence intervals (CI). RESULTS: Among 295,865 participants, 2,799 CRC cases were observed over a median of 7.8 years. The median time between questionnaires was 5.7 years. Each unit increase in HLI from the baseline to the follow-up assessment was associated with a statistically significant 3\% lower CRC risk. Among participants in the top tertile at baseline (HLI > 11), those in the bottom tertile at follow-up (HLI <= 9) had a higher CRC risk (HR 1.34; 95\% CI 1.02-1.75) than those remaining in the top tertile. Among individuals in the bottom tertile at baseline, those in the top tertile at follow-up had a lower risk (HR 0.77; 95\% CI 0.59-1.00) than those remaining in the bottom tertile. DISCUSSION: Improving adherence to a healthy lifestyle was inversely associated with CRC risk, while worsening adherence was positively associated with CRC risk. These results justify and support recommendations for healthy lifestyle changes and healthy lifestyle maintenance for CRC prevention.}, language = {en} } @article{SeroussiNowickiPayneetal.2020, author = {Seroussi, Helene and Nowicki, Sophie and Payne, Antony J. and Goelzer, Heiko and Lipscomb, William H. and Abe-Ouchi, Ayako and Agosta, Cecile and Albrecht, Torsten and Asay-Davis, Xylar and Barthel, Alice and Calov, Reinhard and Cullather, Richard and Dumas, Christophe and Galton-Fenzi, Benjamin K. and Gladstone, Rupert and Golledge, Nicholas R. and Gregory, Jonathan M. and Greve, Ralf and Hattermann, Tore and Hoffman, Matthew J. and Humbert, Angelika and Huybrechts, Philippe and Jourdain, Nicolas C. and Kleiner, Thomas and Larour, Eric and Leguy, Gunter R. and Lowry, Daniel P. and Little, Chistopher M. and Morlighem, Mathieu and Pattyn, Frank and Pelle, Tyler and Price, Stephen F. and Quiquet, Aurelien and Reese, Ronja and Schlegel, Nicole-Jeanne and Shepherd, Andrew and Simon, Erika and Smith, Robin S. and Straneo, Fiammetta and Sun, Sainan and Trusel, Luke D. and Van Breedam, Jonas and van de Wal, Roderik S. However, there is currently no consensus on estimates of the future mass balance of the ice sheet, primarily because of differences in the representation of physical processes, forcings employed and initial states of ice sheet models. This study presents results from ice flow model simulations from 13 international groups focusing on the evolution of the Antarctic ice sheet during the period 2015-2100 as part of the Ice Sheet Model Intercomparison for CMIP6 (ISMIP6). They are forced with outputs from a subset of models from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 5 (CMIP5), representative of the spread in climate model results. Simulations of the Antarctic ice sheet contribution to sea level rise in response to increased warming during this period varies between 7:8 and 30.0 cm of sea level equivalent (SLE) under Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 8.5 scenario forcing. These numbers are relative to a control experiment with constant climate conditions and should therefore be added to the mass loss contribution under climate conditions similar to present-day conditions over the same period. The simulated evolution of the West Antarctic ice sheet varies widely among models, with an overall mass loss, up to 18.0 cm SLE, in response to changes in oceanic conditions. East Antarctica mass change varies between 6 :1 and 8.3 cm SLE in the simulations, with a significant increase in surface mass balance outweighing the increased ice discharge under most RCP 8.5 scenario forcings. The inclusion of ice shelf collapse, here assumed to be caused by large amounts of liquid water ponding at the surface of ice shelves, yields an additional simulated mass loss of 28mm compared to simulations without ice shelf collapse. The largest sources of uncertainty come from the climate forcing, the ocean-induced melt rates, the calibration of these melt rates based on oceanic conditions taken outside of ice shelf cavities and the ice sheet dynamic response to these oceanic changes. Results under RCP 2.6 scenario based on two CMIP5 climate models show an additional mass loss of 0 and 3 cm of SLE on average compared to simulations done under present-day conditions for the two CMIP5 forcings used and display limited mass gain in East Antarctica.}, language = {en} }
