Memberships and Special Agreements

Potsdam University Library has entered into special agreements with the following publishers in order to make procedures more efficient and to reduce publishing costs. Amongst others, invoices shall be sent directly to the University Library. Contributions financed by authors from other institutions need to be attributed correctly and Potsdam University Libray has to be informed in time.

Should you wish to finance your Open Access publication by means of the university's Publication Fund please fill in the Request Form. Please check thoroughly the Criteria for Funding in order to assure funding for your project. Failure to do so may result in you receiving an invoice for the publication fees from your dean's office.

American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)

Due to a consortium agreement starting in 2018, the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) offers a discount of 15% on article processing charges for articles in the Science Advances journal. This offer applies to all members of Potsdam University who are "corresponding author" of an article. Please read the leaflet about the AAAS/Science Advances APC Author Workflow.

BioMed Central

Since 2003, Potsdam University Library has been a member of BioMed Central on a prepaid membership basis. This enables authors to publish open access in journals such as BioMed Central, Chemistry Central as well as in Springer Open at a reduced cost (20% less). When submitting your article your computer needs to be connected to the internet within the campus IP area so that you can be automatically identified as a member of Potsdam University.

COGITATIO

In October 2018, Potsdam University Library entered into a publisher agreement with COGITATIO. In order to make procedures more efficient, invoices for COGITATIO Open Access publications are sent directly to Potsdam University Library. This procedure applies to corresponding authors who are member of Potsdam University. The publisher offers a discount of 2o% on article processing charges (APC); publishing costs can be financed through the Publication Fund of Potsdam University.

Copernicus

In July 2015, Potsdam University Library signed a membership contract with Copernicus. When submitting your article you may opt for "Potsdam University" and thus facilitate central invoicing.

Frontiers

In June 2016, Potsdam University Library signed up for a prepay membership with Frontiers. This enables authors to publish Open Access in Frontiers journals at a reduced cost (5% less).

Hogrefe

Due to an alliance license starting in 2018, Hogrefe Publishing offers a discount of 25% on article processing charges for open access articles in subscription-based journals ("Hogrefe Open Mind"). Potsdam University Library takes part in this license.

Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI)

Potsdam University Library has signed a membership contract with Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI). This way, as "corresponding author" affiliated to Potsdam University, you can save 25% of the publication cost.

Public Library of Science (PLOS)

Since 2015, Potsdam University Library has been a member of the Public Library of Science (PLoS). In order to make procedures more efficient, invoices for contributions published with PloS are sent directly to Potsdam University Library.This procedure applies to members of Potsdam University only.

Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)(Closed)

Due to an alliance license, Potsdam University Library provided Open Access vouchers per year from 2014 to 2016 that were valid for all RSC journals. Members of Potsdam University were able to use these vouchers to publish accepted articles from RSC journals according to Open Access principles.

Taylor & Francis

Due to an consortium agreement Potsdam University Library can provide Open Access vouchers that are valid for all Taylor & Francis journals. Members of Potsdam University can use these vouchers to publish accepted articles from Taylor & Francis journals according to Open Access principles. However, authors need to have the status of either "corresponding" or "submitting authors" and the respective article must be accepted in 2016.
