Criteria for Funding from the University Publication Fund

Funding Criteria

In order to finance articles from the Publication Fund 2017, the following funding criteria set out by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and the University of Potsdam have to be fulfilled:

  • When applying for funding, each applicant has to be member of the University of Potsdam as well as either the “submitting author” or the “corresponding author” of the article.
  • The selected journal publishes all articles according to Open Access standards immediately after appearance. Furthermore, the journal meets the academic standards of the particular subject. Open Access options for single articles in subscription-based journals cannot be funded.
  • The costs of 2000 € (VAT included) per article may not be exceeded. Partial financing is not possible.
  • The article appears in 2017.

General Framework

  • The order of financing complies with the date of application. The publication must have been accepted by the publisher beforehand. 75% of the Publication Funds are reserved for this type of financing.
  • The remaining 25% of the publication budget will be allocated to young researchers such as doctoral students and postdocs.
  • Applicants should not be able to pay his or her publication expenses by third-party funds that are intended for this purpose.
  • Funded articles must be published in a journal that is listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
  • If funded articles are to be published in a journal by a commercial publisher, the latter should be a member of the Open Access Scholarly Publisher Association (OASPA).
  • Funded articles should be published under a creative-commons license or similar.
