N2  - This study aimed to build on the relationship of well-established self-report and behavioral assessments to the latent constructs positive (PVS) and negative valence systems (NVS), cognitive systems (CS), and social processes (SP) of the Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) framework in a large transnosological population which cuts across DSM/ICD-10 disorder criteria categories. One thousand four hundred and thirty one participants (42.1% suffering from anxiety/fear-related, 18.2% from depressive, 7.9% from schizophrenia spectrum, 7.5% from bipolar, 3.4% from autism spectrum, 2.2% from other disorders, 18.4% healthy controls, and 0.2% with no diagnosis specified) recruited in studies within the German research network for mental disorders for the Phenotypic, Diagnostic and Clinical Domain Assessment Network Germany (PD-CAN) were examined with a Mini-RDoC-Assessment including behavioral and self-report measures. The respective data was analyzed with confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to delineate the underlying latent RDoC-structure. A revised four-factor model reflecting the core domains positive and negative valence systems as well as cognitive systems and social processes showed a good fit across this sample and showed significantly better fit compared to a one factor solution. The connections between the domains PVS, NVS and SP could be substantiated, indicating a universal latent structure spanning across known nosological entities. This study is the first to give an impression on the latent structure and intercorrelations between four core Research Domain Criteria in a transnosological sample. We emphasize the possibility of using already existing and well validated self-report and behavioral measurements to capture aspects of the latent structure informed by the RDoC matrix.

Die in diesem Bildband gesammelten »Denkmalentdeckungen« verstehen sich als Einladung zu einer Reise durch das Land Brandenburg. Theodor Fontane hatte für ein solches Unternehmen genau den richtigen Blick, als er in seinen »Wanderungen durch die Mark Brandenburg« 1864 diese Sätze schrieb. Auch heute noch sollten wir seiner Anregung zu Begegnungen mit der Geschichte und der Kunstgeschichte des Landes folgen, die uns im Dialog der Kulturen und der Zeiten eine Standortbestimmung in der Gegenwart und eine Orientierung für die Zukunft zugleich bietet.

N2  - While ubiquitous, the making and breaking of hydrogen bonds in solution is notoriously difficult to study due to the associated complex changes of nuclear and electronic structures. With the aim to reduce the according uncertainty in correlating experimental observables and hydrogen-bond configurations, we combine the information from proximate methods to study the N-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bond in solution. We investigate hydrogen-bonding of the N-H group of N-methylaniline with oxygen from liquid DMSO and acetone with infrared spectra in the N-H stretching region and X-ray absorption spectra at the N K-edge. We experimentally observe blue shifts of the infrared stretching band and an X-ray absorption pre-edge peak when going from DMSO to acetone. With ab initio molecular dynamics simulations and calculated spectra, we qualitatively reproduce the experimental observables but we do not reach quantitative agreement with experiment. The infrared spectra support the notion of weakening the N-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bond from DMSO to acetone. However, we fail to theoretically reproduce the measured shift of the X-ray absorption pre-edge peak. We discuss possible shortcomings of the simulation models and spectrum calculations. Common features and distinct differences with the O-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bond are highlighted, and the implications for monitoring hydrogen-bond breaking in solution are discussed.

N2  - We analyze the variability in the x-ray lightcurves of the black hole candidate Cygnus X-1 by linear and nonlinear time series analysis methods. While a linear model describes the overall second order properties of the observed data well, surrogate data analysis reveals a significant deviation from linearity. We discuss the relation between shot noise models usually applied to analyze these data and linear stochastic autoregressive models. We debate statistical and interpretational issues of surrogate data testing for the present context. Finally, we suggest a combination of tools from linear and nonlinear time series analysis methods as a procedure to test the predictions of astrophysical models on observed data.

N2  - Militärgeschichte und Wissensgeschichte bilden zwei in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten international prosperierende Forschungsfelder, die bislang aber selten miteinander in Dialog getreten sind. Das Themenheft nimmt dies zum Anlass, exemplarisch die Potentiale wissensgeschichtlicher Perspektiven für die (früh-)neuzeitliche Militärgeschichte auszuloten und dabei zugleich den bislang oft unreflektierten Zäsurcharakter der Jahre um 1800 kritisch zu beleuchten. Gab es eine eigene militärische Wissenskultur oder inwieweit partizipierte das Militär an den zivilen Wissenskulturen seiner sozialen Umwelt? Welche Akteure, welche Praktiken und welche Medien spielten eine Rolle bei der Verwissenschaftlichung des Militärischen im Wandel von der Kriegskunst zur Kriegswissenschaft? Gerade der geweitete analytische Horizont der Wissensgeschichte ermöglicht es, der Vielfalt der Wissensformen Rechnung zu tragen und entsprechende Entwicklungen angemessen in ihren historischen Kontexten zu verorten. Darüber hinaus bietet der epochenübergreifende Zuschnitt die Chance, nicht nur Brüche, sondern auch mögliche Kontinuitäten zwischen frühneuzeitlichem und neuzeitlichem Militärwesen sowie dessen Beziehungen zum Wissen aufzuzeigen und etwaige Ungenauigkeiten oder historiographisch bedingte Verkürzungen durch neue Akzentsetzungen zu korrigieren.

N2  - Das Future SOC Lab am HPI ist eine Kooperation des Hasso-Plattner-Instituts mit verschiedenen Industriepartnern. Seine Aufgabe ist die Ermöglichung und Förderung des Austausches zwischen Forschungsgemeinschaft und Industrie.
Am Lab wird interessierten Wissenschaftlern eine Infrastruktur von neuester Hard- und Software kostenfrei für Forschungszwecke zur Verfügung gestellt. Dazu zählen teilweise noch nicht am Markt verfügbare Technologien, die im normalen Hochschulbereich in der Regel nicht zu finanzieren wären, bspw. Server mit bis zu 64 Cores und 2 TB Hauptspeicher. Diese Angebote richten sich insbesondere an Wissenschaftler in den Gebieten Informatik und Wirtschaftsinformatik. Einige der Schwerpunkte sind Cloud Computing, Parallelisierung und In-Memory Technologien. 
In diesem Technischen Bericht werden die Ergebnisse der Forschungsprojekte des Jahres 2015 vorgestellt.  Ausgewählte Projekte stellten ihre Ergebnisse am 15. April 2015 und 4. November 2015 im Rahmen der Future SOC Lab Tag Veranstaltungen vor.
