That is why evidence-based policy making, endorsed by the European Commission under Erasmus+ Key Action 3, aims to make an alignment between the domains of policy and practice. Against this background, this article addresses two issues: First, that there is a vertical gap in the translation of higher-level policies to local strategies and regulations. Second, that there is a horizontal gap between educational domains regarding the policy awareness of individual players. This was analyzed in quantitative and qualitative studies with domain experts from the fields of virtual mobility and teacher training. From our findings, we argue that the combination of both gaps puts the academic bridge from secondary to tertiary education at risk, including the associated knowledge proficiency levels. We discuss the role of digitalization in the academic bridge by asking the question: which value does the involved stakeholders expect from educational policies? As a theoretical basis, we rely on the model of value co-creation for and by stakeholders. We describe the used instruments along with the obtained results and proposed benefits. Moreover, we reflect on the methodology applied, and we finally derive recommendations for future academic bridge policies. N2 - Gangsta rap in Germany is particularly male-dominated and commercially very successful as a music genre. It is one of the very few areas in which designs of masculinity are not largely threatened as yet. At the end of 2011, female gangsta rapper Schwesta Ewa came into the picture. Potentially, she could make use of the opportunity to question both concepts of masculinity and notions of femininity that are common in gangsta rap expressly because of her sex. Yet which constructions of masculinity and femininity exactly do men and women perform in practice? In order to answer this research question, this book draws primarily on the sociological concepts of hegemonic masculinity (Connell), habitus (Bourdieu) and male gender habitus (Meuser). Guided by these concepts, a case-specific assignment and analysis of lyrics is carried out using the empirical method of structuring content analysis. One finding of this analysis is that Schwesta Ewa is creating a complex self-construction of femininity. The comparison between Schwesta Ewa and the male gangsta rapper Kollegah proves Connell and Messerschmidt’s hypothesis that women can inhabit aspects of hegemonic masculinity, too. The first research question concentrates primarily on the homosocial dimension and examines the elements of revaluation of the self and devaluation of the other, which are highly constitutive for gangsta rap. Yet which patterns of acceptance exist between men and women? In order to answer this second research question, the research employs a discourse analysis, which explores a multiplicity of male and female rappers and their lyrics. It shows that an understanding of gangsta rap as a representation of conservative gender images is possible. Additionally, descriptions of everyday social phenomena like love, friendship and their accompanying social roles can be traced. However, acknowledgement of the opposite sex can also go along with simultaneous devaluation. This study investigates the removal processes of volatile organic compounds in a pilot-scale vertical flow filter. The filter is intermittently irrigated with contaminated groundwater containing benzene, MTBE and ammonium as the main contaminants. The system is characterized by unsaturated conditions and high contaminant removal efficiency. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the contribution of biodegradation and volatilization to the overall removal of benzene and MTBE. Tracer tests and flow rate measurements showed a highly transient flow and heterogeneous transport regime. Radon-222, naturally occurring in the treated groundwater, was used as a gas tracer and indicated a high volatilization potential. Radon-222 behavior was reproduced by numerical simulations and extrapolated for benzene and MTBE, and indicated these compounds also have a high volatilization potential. In contrast, passive sampler measurements on top of the filter detected only low benzene and MTBE concentrations. Biodegradation potential was evaluated by the analysis of catabolic genes involved in organic compound degradation and a quantitative estimation of biodegradation was derived from stable isotope fractionation analysis. Results suggest that despite the high volatilization potential, biodegradation is the predominant mass removal process in the filter system, which indicates that the volatilized fraction of the contaminants is still subject to subsequent biodegradation. In particular, the upper filter layer located between the injection tubes and the surface of the system might also contribute to biodegradation, and might play a crucial role in avoiding the emission of volatilized contaminants into the atmosphere.
