This has created opportunities to explore the potential and limitations of virtual learning formats. This paper presents four theses on virtual classroom teaching and learning that are discussed critically. We use existing theoretical insights extended by empirical evidence from a survey of more than 850 students on acceptance, expectations, and attitudes regarding the positive and negative aspects of virtual teaching. The survey responses were gathered from students at different universities during the first completely digital semester (Spring-Summer 2020) in Germany. We discuss similarities and differences between the subjects being studied and highlight the advantages and disadvantages of virtual teaching and learning. Against the background of existing theory and the gathered data, we emphasize the importance of social interaction, the combination of different learning formats, and thus context-sensitive hybrid learning as the learning form of the future. N2 - This paper in the journal Gruppe. Interaktion. Organisation. illustrates how intentional forgetting can improve the adaptation to necessary changes for individuals, groups and organizations, and how intentional forgetting can be consciously and purposefully designed. In order for behavior to be adapted as aresult of necessary change, it is not enough for people to know what to do, to be willing and able to change their behavior. Achange succeeds only if the new behavior is activated and not the old one, if the old behavior is forgotten. The necessary process of intentional forgetting can be designed by removing cues that retrieve memory items to be forgotten and placing cues that trigger the retrieval of the new. This paper presents the beneficial effects of cues on intentional forgetting, proves them in the context of areport of an experimental study and gives practical implications on how to design intentional forgetting for individuals, groups and organizations. This paper clustered specific behavioral patterns following the introduction of a change and related them to retentivity as an individual cognitive ability. In addition, this paper investigated whether the occurrence of adaptation errors varied depending on the type of change content. Design/methodology/approach Data from 35 participants collected in the simulated manufacturing environment of a Research and Application Center Industry 4.0 (RACI) were analyzed. The participants were required to learn and train a manufacturing process in the RACI and through an online training program. At a second measurement point in the RACI, specific manufacturing steps were subject to change and participants had to adapt their task execution. Adaptive performance was evaluated by counting the adaptation errors. Findings The participants showed one of the following behavioral patterns: (1) no adaptation errors, (2) few adaptation errors, (3) repeated adaptation errors regarding the same actions, or (4) many adaptation errors distributed over many different actions. The latter ones had a very low retentivity compared to the other groups. Most of the adaptation errors were made when new actions were added to the manufacturing process. As a result, the use of technology in the learning processes of students of different disciplines became essential and the only way to teach, communicate and collaborate for months. N2 - Robotic Process Automation (RPA) stands for the software-sup-ported operation of software solutions via their user interface. The primary goal to be achieved by RPA is the automated execution of tasks that previously required human intervention. The potential of RPA to improve process improvements in the long term must be considered greatly limited. Automating processes and bridging media gaps at the front-end level results in a multitude of dependencies and conditions which this paper summarizes. The path to a sustainable enterprise architecture (consisting of processes and systems) requires open, adaptive systems with modern architecture, which are characterized by a high level of interoperability at different levels. Nearly 40 percent of all employees are so called 'knowledge workers'. Distribution and inquest of knowledge within companies are supported by skill management systems. Although not all aspects and potentials of this instrument are yet utilized skill management systems have spread widely within business organizations. This paper summarizes the requirements, scopes and problems for skill management system within the company. Since the number of knowledge-intensive processes is increasing more and more nowadays, the efficient design of knowledge transfers at business processes as well as the target-oriented improvement of them is essential, so that process outcomes satisfy high quality criteria and economic requirements. This particularly challenges knowledge management, aiming for the assignment of ideal manifestations of influence factors on knowledge transfers to a certain task. Faced with first attempts of knowledge transfer-based process improvements [1], this paper continues research about the quantitative examination of knowledge transfers and presents a ready-to-go experiment design that is able to examine quality of knowledge transfers empirically and is suitable to examine knowledge transfers on a quantitative level. Its use is proven by the example of four influence factors, which namely are stickiness, complexity, competence and time pressure.
