Гумбольдт публиковал работы на немецком и французском языках. В своих «Американских дневниках», которые были возвращены в Берлин в ноябре 2013 г., но до сих пор не изучены, Гумбольдт постоянно пере­ходит с немецкого на французский, с латинского на испанский. Автор «Космоса» чужд всякого национализма. Гумбольдт – это номад от науки, и в этом смысле – гражданин мира. Первый теоретик глобализации кочевал от слова к слову, от науки к науке, от мира к миру. Для него постоянное перемещение бы­ло не просто основой научной программы, а образом жизни. Гумбольдт не стремился к специализации в знании, поскольку она ограничивает диалог с другими областями. Его мышление не укладывается в привычные понятия дисциплинарности или междисциплинарности. Оно взыскует нового мира, в котором человечество будет существовать в согласии и свободе.
N2  - The long-term scientific interests of Alexander von Humboldt ranged from anthropology and ancient American studies to geology and geography, climatology and cultural theory, physics and plant geography to language history, volcanology and zoology. As a scientist, he crossed different disciplines and explored new paths of knowledge. Humboldt developed a transdisciplinary and, in the widest sense, nomadic knowledge as a traveller through the sciences. Like a nomad, he did not seek to possess or destroy a territory (of knowledge): no wonder that he became the co-founder of an ecological and geo-ecological thinking. Humboldt wrote and published his works in German as well as in French. In his American Travel Diaries, which returned to Berlin in November 2013, and which are still awaiting their scientific analysis, Humboldt constantly changes between German and French, but also between Latin and Spanish. The author of the Kosmos couldn’t be used for nationalist purposes. Thus, Alexander von Humboldt can be understood as a nomad of science in constant movement, and in this sense as a world citizen. This first theorist of globalization shifted between the words, between the sciences, between the worlds. For him, the greatest possible mobility was not only a scientific program, but also the program of a life – his life. Humboldt wasn’t concerned with any specialization that would lead to a fragmented dialogue with other specialists. He was concerned with a nomadic knowledge, which, thanks to his extensive network of correspondents, always delivered the opportunity to argue from different disciplinary standpoints at the same time. His thinking doesn’t know the limits of interdisciplinary or “disciplined” research oppressing us today, but it rather took aim at the creation of a new world, in which mankind would be able to live together on a planetary scale in freedom and peace.

N2  - During his American expedition Humboldt grappled intensively with the iniquities of colonialism. In the year 1803, for example, he noted "that the idea of a colony is itself an immoral idea, this idea of a land which is obliged to pay dues to another country." The colonial powers, wrote Humboldt, support intolerance, repression and slavery. However, he did not express his criticism in public during the expedition but entrusted it only to good friends and his diary. The lecture treats Humboldt's political stance during the expedition, based on human rights and his communicative role as a research traveller who, having returned to Europe, made his criticism public. Central to the lecture are examples of Humboldt's criticism of representatives of the colonial system. These make clear which important impulses the researcher gave to the independence movement and to the politicians of the young American states.

N2  - Welterleben and Weiterleben are what determine the second globalization (of four previously explored) whose constantly accelerating dynamic, vectorization, this essay explores. On the basis of selected writings of Georg Forster, Alexander von Humboldt, and Adelbert von Chamisso, the author highlights the increasing speed with which knowledge, especially in the experiential sciences, is produced and disseminated following the routes of ever-widening trade speeded along by globalization. The notion of ‘vectopia’ stands for the connection of utopia and uchronia in space and time in such a way that the experience of the world, expanded worldwide, contains within it a Weiter-Leben, a ‘living-further’ that is to be understood first in a spatial, and not yet temporal, sense, of what Forster called Erfahrungswissen, or ‘experiential knowledge.’ Vectopia, as elaborated here, has a material dimension that relates to the physical person, the body, the experience of the world that cannot occur without the constant changing of place, without a journeying that is again and again recommenced. Vectopia develops the projection of a life not from space or from time alone, but by their combination. Vectopia is more than a concept, it is a thought-figure: it is vitally connected to life, and thus a life-figure. It opens itself to a type of knowledge that stands almost at the threshold of a further life, indeed, of a Weiterleben that, opening itself to a ‘living-onward,’ resides beyond space, time, and movement.

Alexander von Humboldt bemerkte und beschrieb um die Wende zum 19. Jahrhundert eine fundamentale Epochenschwelle, die er im Vorwort zu seinen Vues des Cordillères et Monumens des Peuples Indigènes de l’Amérique als eine „glückliche Revolution“ bezeichnete. Diese Revolution schloss für Humboldt auch die Tatsache mit ein, die Aufklärung nicht als eine rein europäische, sondern als eine transatlantische und weltumspannende philosophische Bewegung zu verstehen.
N2  - This article discusses the epistemic changes and transformations that led from the famous Voyages around the world to the explorations not only of the coastlines but of the interiors of continents and islands in the light of what has been calles “the Berlin Debate about the New World”. In his Vues des Cordillères et Monumens des Peuples Indigènes de l’Amérique, Alexander von Humboldt detected a fundamental epistemic shift that he coined as “the happy revolution”. This revolution around 1800 included, for Humboldt, a new understanding of the term “Aufklärung” no more reduced to European dimensions but opening the term Lumières towards a transatlantic and even world-wide comprehension.
N2  - Cet article présente les changements épistémiques qui menèrent des fameux Voyages autour du monde aux voyages d’explorations non plus seulement des régions littorales mais surtout de l’intérieur des pays visités. Afin de mieux comprendre ces transformations fondamentales, il est indispensable de recourir au fameux «Débat Berlinois sur le Nouveau Monde» qui opposait les philosophes Européens aux philosophes de l’hémisphère américain. Dans la préface à ses Vues des Cordillères et Monumens des Peuples Indigènes de l’Amérique, Alexandre de Humboldt detecta, d’une façon brillante, cette transformation épistémologique fondamentale qu’il traita de «révolution heureuse», tout en intégrant les Lumières du Nouveau Monde dans sa conception d’une République des Lettres vraiment internationale.

N2  - Transarea studies focus upon spaces as created by the movements that criss-cross them. From this point of view, from its very beginnings, literature is closely interrelated with a vectorial (and much less with a purely spatial) conception of history - and with urbanity, which plays a decisive role in Gilgamesh's travels through a (narrative) cosmos centered upon the city of Uruk. This article explores the city as a transareal space of movement in three examples of literature, with no fixed abode, around the turn of the millennium, i.e. Assia Djebar's Les Nuits de Strasbourg, Emine Sevgi Oezdamar's Istanbul-Berlin Trilogy, and Cecile Wajsbrot's L'ile aux musees. These three writers project, in a very specific way, cities in motion as anagrammatic and fractal structures.

In the context of recent reflections upon global ethics (Hans Küng), global democracy (Otfried Höffe) and a new cultural situation after the end of the Cold War (Clifford Geertz), Alexander von Humboldt's concept of global consciousness (Weltbewußtsein) marks a decisive point in the ungoing process of the construction of a new ethics of globalization. This article tries to show how Humboldt's transdisciplinary and intercultural conception of sience as WorldWideWeb integrates Kant's philosophical visions of global political institutions and formulates a critique of the non-empirical foundations of Hegel's teleological Weltanschauung. From his Visions of Nature and his Personal Narrative to his Cosmos, Humboldt's theory and practice of science help us to find a new ethos and new answers to the contemporary questions of divergent modernities.
N2  - Hacia una conciencia universal. La concepciónde la ciencia en Alejandro de Humboldt y la emergencia de una nueva ética de la Weltanschauung. En el contexto de las recientes reflexiones en torno a una ética planetaria (Hans Küng), una democracia planetaria (Otfried Höffe) y la nueva situación cultural después de la guerra fría (Clifford Geertz), el concepto de una conciencia universal (Weltbewußtsein), propuesto por Alejandro de Humboldt, señala un momento decisivo en la construcción de una nueva ética de la globalización. En este ensayo, tratamos de poner de relieve en qué forma su concepción intercultural y transdisciplinaria del quehacer científico es capaz de integrar las visiones filosóficas de Kant acerca de las instituciones políticas universales y de desarrollar una crítica de la Weltanschauung teleológica de Hegel que carecía de suficiente fundamento empírico. Desde sus Cuadros de la Naturaleza y su relato de viaje hasta su obra de madurez, el Cosmos, la teoría y la práctica de una ciencia entendida como WorldWideWeb fundan un nuevo ethos capaz de estimular respuestas dinámicas a los desafíos creados por nuestras modernidades divergentes.

Die polyseme Struktur von Begriffen wie Weltbewusstsein ist Teil einer Wissenschaftsvision und -praxis, die am besten beschrieben werden kann als transdisziplinär, interkulturell, demokratisch popularisierend, kosmopolitisch, fraktal und transregional. Alexander von Humboldts neuer Diskurs über die Neue Welt lässt sich verstehen als ein wegweisendes Beispiel für TransArea Studies durch die Betonung regionenspezifischer Merkmale anhand der Entwicklung ihrer jeweils spezifischen Beziehungen und Dynamiken innerhalb eines weltweiten Netzwerkes von Informationen, Abhängigkeiten, Austauschprozessen und Korrespondenzen.

The polysemic structure of concepts like world consciousness (Weltbewusstsein) is embetted in a vision, understanding and practice of science that can be described as transdisciplinary, intercultural, democraticaly popularizing, cosmopolitan, fractal and transregional. Alexander von Humboldt's new discourse on the Americas can be best understood as a fine example for TransArea Studies highlighting an area's characteristics by developing its relationships and dynamics within a worldwide network of informations, dependencies, exchanges and correspondances.

N2  - El proyecto de larga duración “Centro Alejandro de Humboldt – Ciencia en movimiento” (iniciado en 2015) de la Academia de las Ciencias y Humanidades Berlín-Brandemburgo tiene como objetivo la edición de los manuscritos de viaje del famoso autor, naturalista, cosmopólito y viajero. La edición incluirá los manuscritos de sus dos viajes hemisféricos (América, Asia) como también los de su legado literario. La pregunta esencial que acompaña las investigaciones en torno al proyecto de la Academia es la importancia que Humboldt le da a la vida y a la convivencia. Los tres pilares en los que descansa la reflexión son:  la relacionalidad, la concomitancia entre ciencia y estética y el movimiento.

Die Frage nach dem Leben und dem Zusammenleben bei Humboldt begleitet die Forschungsprojekte rund um das Vorhaben. Die Überlegungen beruhen auf drei Säulen: Relationalität, Wechselbeziehung von Wissenschaft und Ästhetik und Bewegung.
N2  - The long-term research project “Traveling Humboldt – Science on the move”, which started in 2015 at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, involves the complete edition of the manuscripts of Alexander von Humboldt on the topical complex ‘journeys’. The research projects accompanying the Academy project focus on Humboldt’s concept of life and conviviality. These focus points center around three pillars: relationality, the reciprocity of science and aesthetics and movement.

N2  - As the world cannot be adequately understood from the vantage point of a single language, the literatures of the world can no longer be trimmed to a single world literature in the Goethean sense. This recognition bodes well for the future of philology and of literary production. Through multiperspectival writing, knowledge of life may be attainable without being reduced to a single political, medial, cartographical, geocultural, or aesthetic logic. As a laboratory for polylogical thinking, literature does not represent reality, as Erich Auerbach put it. Rather, it represents multiple lived, experienced, or relivable realities. Whoever is open to a polylogical reception of the literatures of the world can perceive and experience how life knowledge transforms into lived knowledge and how knowledge for survival turns into knowledge for living together. However, literature can be more than it is only if it stays aware of the void, of lack, of privation, of the interminable: aware of the end that never is an end. Such a planetary concept of the literatures of the world offers valuable opportunities to all those who do not fall into the trap of contenting themselves with a supposed abundance of text.
