N2  - Welterleben and Weiterleben are what determine the second globalization (of four previously explored) whose constantly accelerating dynamic, vectorization, this essay explores. On the basis of selected writings of Georg Forster, Alexander von Humboldt, and Adelbert von Chamisso, the author highlights the increasing speed with which knowledge, especially in the experiential sciences, is produced and disseminated following the routes of ever-widening trade speeded along by globalization. The notion of ‘vectopia’ stands for the connection of utopia and uchronia in space and time in such a way that the experience of the world, expanded worldwide, contains within it a Weiter-Leben, a ‘living-further’ that is to be understood first in a spatial, and not yet temporal, sense, of what Forster called Erfahrungswissen, or ‘experiential knowledge.’ Vectopia, as elaborated here, has a material dimension that relates to the physical person, the body, the experience of the world that cannot occur without the constant changing of place, without a journeying that is again and again recommenced. Vectopia develops the projection of a life not from space or from time alone, but by their combination. Vectopia is more than a concept, it is a thought-figure: it is vitally connected to life, and thus a life-figure. It opens itself to a type of knowledge that stands almost at the threshold of a further life, indeed, of a Weiterleben that, opening itself to a ‘living-onward,’ resides beyond space, time, and movement.

N2  - This essay shows in what sense Alexander von Humboldt created a new discourse on the New World. In his view of the Americas, he was able to subvert the dominantly spatial history of the 'new hemisphere' found in Cornelius de Pauw or Guillaume-Thomas Raynal by introducing dynamic and vectorial structures that allow us to focus on the Americas not as 'the other' but as a highly interrelated part of the world. Humboldt's Weltbewusstsein ('world consciousness') develops a new discourse that can be best understood as a complex answer to the second period of accelerated globalisation.

Как настоящий кочевник, он не стремился завоевать или разрушить территорию знания. И потому неудивительно, что он стал одним из основоположников экологического и гео-экологического мышления. Гумбольдт публиковал работы на немецком и французском языках. В своих «Американских дневниках», которые были возвращены в Берлин в ноябре 2013 г., но до сих пор не изучены, Гумбольдт постоянно пере­ходит с немецкого на французский, с латинского на испанский. Автор «Космоса» чужд всякого национализма. Гумбольдт – это номад от науки, и в этом смысле – гражданин мира. Первый теоретик глобализации кочевал от слова к слову, от науки к науке, от мира к миру. Для него постоянное перемещение бы­ло не просто основой научной программы, а образом жизни. Гумбольдт не стремился к специализации в знании, поскольку она ограничивает диалог с другими областями. Его мышление не укладывается в привычные понятия дисциплинарности или междисциплинарности. Оно взыскует нового мира, в котором человечество будет существовать в согласии и свободе.
N2  - The long-term scientific interests of Alexander von Humboldt ranged from anthropology and ancient American studies to geology and geography, climatology and cultural theory, physics and plant geography to language history, volcanology and zoology. As a scientist, he crossed different disciplines and explored new paths of knowledge. Humboldt developed a transdisciplinary and, in the widest sense, nomadic knowledge as a traveller through the sciences. Like a nomad, he did not seek to possess or destroy a territory (of knowledge): no wonder that he became the co-founder of an ecological and geo-ecological thinking. Humboldt wrote and published his works in German as well as in French. In his American Travel Diaries, which returned to Berlin in November 2013, and which are still awaiting their scientific analysis, Humboldt constantly changes between German and French, but also between Latin and Spanish. The author of the Kosmos couldn’t be used for nationalist purposes. Thus, Alexander von Humboldt can be understood as a nomad of science in constant movement, and in this sense as a world citizen. This first theorist of globalization shifted between the words, between the sciences, between the worlds. For him, the greatest possible mobility was not only a scientific program, but also the program of a life – his life. Humboldt wasn’t concerned with any specialization that would lead to a fragmented dialogue with other specialists. He was concerned with a nomadic knowledge, which, thanks to his extensive network of correspondents, always delivered the opportunity to argue from different disciplinary standpoints at the same time. His thinking doesn’t know the limits of interdisciplinary or “disciplined” research oppressing us today, but it rather took aim at the creation of a new world, in which mankind would be able to live together on a planetary scale in freedom and peace.

Quer zu den bis heute in ihren Dimensionen wie in ihren Ergebnissen erstaunlichen Reisen Humboldts zeigt sich eine oszillierende Bewegung, die über einen Zeitraum von nahezu sechs Jahrzehnten Berlin, Potsdam und Paris mit der ‚Neuen Welt‘ und den Debatten um letztere verband.

observe the accelerating circulation of knowledge that inspired his writing. And yet, the development of his life’s work was less linked to a specific, concrete place than to a vectoricity. This is
evident in all of Humboldt’s writings in the overlays of the most diverse places and landscapes. Right across Humboldt’s journeys, that were and still are astonishing both in their dimensions and in their results, there is an oscillating movement

N2  - This article discusses the epistemic changes and transformations that led from the famous Voyages around the world to the explorations not only of the coastlines but of the interiors of continents and islands in the light of what has been calles “the Berlin Debate about the New World”. In his Vues des Cordillères et Monumens des Peuples Indigènes de l’Amérique, Alexander von Humboldt detected a fundamental epistemic shift that he coined as “the happy revolution”. This revolution around 1800 included, for Humboldt, a new understanding of the term “Aufklärung” no more reduced to European dimensions but opening the term Lumières towards a transatlantic and even world-wide comprehension.
N2  - Cet article présente les changements épistémiques qui menèrent des fameux Voyages autour du monde aux voyages d’explorations non plus seulement des régions littorales mais surtout de l’intérieur des pays visités. Afin de mieux comprendre ces transformations fondamentales, il est indispensable de recourir au fameux «Débat Berlinois sur le Nouveau Monde» qui opposait les philosophes Européens aux philosophes de l’hémisphère américain. Dans la préface à ses Vues des Cordillères et Monumens des Peuples Indigènes de l’Amérique, Alexandre de Humboldt detecta, d’une façon brillante, cette transformation épistémologique fondamentale qu’il traita de «révolution heureuse», tout en intégrant les Lumières du Nouveau Monde dans sa conception d’une République des Lettres vraiment internationale.

N2  - Since 1793, Alexander von Humboldt had been dreaming of realizing a travel to Russia, leading him right into Central Asia. In 1829, he finally was able to see his dream fulfilled, although the contexts and conditions of his travel to Russia were totally different from those of his voyage to the Americas, realized some thirty years earlier. Severely controlled by the Russian monarchy, the travellers made it up to the Chinese border, rapidly crossing, within very few months and with the help of more than 12000 horses, more than 18000 kilometers. This article analizes the outstanding importance of Humboldt's Asian project in the context of Humboldtian Science, specially focussing the relevance of TransArea studies within its omnipresent AsiAmerican dimensions. Therefore, Asie centrale occupies a highly specific place within the complex cosmos of Humboldt's writings, highlighting a fascinating transdisciplinary and geoecological approach still of great importance today.
N2  - Desde el año 1793, Alejandro de Humboldt soñaba con un viaje a Rusia que debería llevarle hasta el interior de la Asia central. Este viaje, realizado por fin en 1829, se caracterizó por condiciones muy diferentes del viaje americano llevado a cabo unos treinta años antes. Bajo el control muy estricto de la monarquía rusa, los viajeros recorrieron, en pocos meses y con más de 12000 caballos, más de 18000 kilómetros, llegando hasta la frontera china. Este ensayo analiza la importancia del viaje asiático dentro del contexto de la ciencia humboldtiana, destacando sobre todo la omnipresencia de lo americano que subraya una epistemología que se basa en su dimensión transareal. De esta forma, Asie centrale ocupa un lugar muy preciso y a la vez destacado dentro del cosmos humboldtiano, abriéndose hacia concepciones transdisciplinarias y geoecológicas que no han perdido nada de su actualidad.

From a transregional perspective, Humboldt's aesthetically most radical book can be fully understood as a musée imaginaire of world cultures whose spatial, temporal, social, literary, frictional, architextual and cultural dimensions allow new insights in one of the most fascinating texts of the early 19th century. Alexander von Humboldt's Vues are creating a transmedial kaleidoscope within a fractal vision of the cultures of the world in the second period of accelerated globalization.

Sin duda alguna, las Vues des Cordillères... configuran el libro estéticamente más audaz de Alejandro de Humboldt, diseñando un verdadero musée imaginaire que se analiza aquí tanto en su dimensión espacial y temporal, social y genérica como en sus dimensiones literarias, friccionales y específicamente culturales. Dabei bildete die selbstkritische Hinterfragung eigener, kulturell geprägter Forschungsansätze im Kontext jeweils spezifischer Kulturen des Wissens ein entscheidendes Kriterium seines wissenschaftlichen Handelns. Wissenschaft von der Welt ist bei Humboldt verbunden mit dem Anspruch, die Welt in ihren komplexen Zusammenhängen neu zu denken: transdisziplinär, interkulturell, kosmopolitisch. So verstanden ist Humboldt keineswegs der "letzte Universalgelehrte", sondern vielmehr Pionier und Vertreter einer neuen Wissenschaftskonzeption, deren Potentiale bis heute noch nicht ausgeschöpft sind.

Sie fügen sich ein in die diskontinuierliche Schreibweise des preußischen Forschers und sind in vielerlei Hinsicht nicht nur wie seine Schriften selbst als vielsprachig, sondern auch als viellogisch zu bezeichnen. Sie repräsentieren Schreibformen, auf welche Humboldt in seinen Amerikanischen Reisetagebüchern als dem wohl besten Zugang zu seinem Denk-, Schreib- und Wissenschaftsstil, aber auch in seinen gedruckten wissenschaftlichen Abhandlungen häufig zurückgriff. Es sind Listen einer Epistemologie ständiger Erweiterung. Sie markieren den Beginn einer transdisziplinären Wissenschaft, die von ihrer Aktualität nichts verloren hat. Ils sʼinscrivent dans le style d'écriture discontinu du chercheur prussien et peuvent être décrits à bien des égards non seulement comme multilingues, comme ses écrits eux-mêmes, mais aussi comme polylogiques. Ils représentent des formes dʼécriture que Humboldt a souvent utilisées dans ses carnets de voyage américains, probablement le meilleur accès à son style de pensée, dʼécriture et de recherche, mais aussi dans ses traités scientifiques imprimés. Ce sont des listes dʼune épistémologie en constante expansion. Les listes de Humboldt marquent le début d'une science transdisciplinaire qui n'a rien perdu de son actualité. They fit into the discontinuous style of writing of the Prussian researcher and in many respects can be described not only as multilingual, like his writings themselves, but also as polylogical. They represent forms of writing that Humboldt often used in his American Travel Diaries, probably the best access to his style of thinking, writing and research, but also in his printed scientific treatises. They are lists of an epistemology of constant expansion. Humboldtʼs lists mark the beginning of a transdisciplinary science that has lost none of its topicality today. In our times of ecological catastrophes, we need a way of thinking that opens up our planet Earth in all its contexts and interactions and ensures that the various influences of the world's cultures on nature are no longer neglected.

N2  - In Gemälden, die den späten Alexander von Humboldt zeigen, finden sich bildlich verdichtete Zeichen seines wissenschaftlichen Lebens. So erinnert das Bild des von Humboldt nicht ganz bestiegenen Chimborazo an die epistemische Funktion des Unabgeschlossenen in seiner Arbeit, während Karte, Globus und die charakteristische Körperhaltung auf die zentrale Bedeutung der Bewegung und auf das „Schreiben im Angesicht der Dinge“ verweisen. Auffällig ist die Präsenz des Schreibmaterials in den Bildern, das als Verweis auf die lebenslange Bedeutung der Amerikanischen Reisetagebücher verstanden werden kann. In diesen kommen wiederum die zentralen Momente der Humboldtian Science zum Ausdruck. Der Charakter des work in progress und die konsequente Relationalität der Darstellung zeigen die epistemologischen Konstanten dieser Wissenschaft genauso an wie die in der Handschrift erkennbare Dimension der Körper-Leiblichkeit.
N2  - En las pinturas que retratan al erúdito Alexander von Humboldt encontramos densos signos visuales las cuales simbolizan su vida científica. La imagen del Chimborazo, cuya cima Humboldt no había alcanzado, recuerda la función epistémica de lo inacabado en su obra, mientras que la carta, el globo y su postura típica remiten al central significado del movimiento y al “escribir de cara a las cosas”. La presencia de sus objetos de escritura en las imagenes llama la atención, ya que se puede entender como referencia al significado de los diarios del viaje americano escritos durante toda la vida. En aquellos se ponen de manifiesto los momentos centrales del Humboldtian Science. El carácter del work in progress y la relacionalidad consecuente de la representación muestran las constantes epistemológicas de esta ciencia así como la dimensión de lo corporal en los manuscritos.
N2  - In the paintings showing the late Alexander von Humboldt, there are figuratively condensed signs of his scientific achievements. Thus the image of the Chimborazo Humboldt did not climb to the top evokes the epistemological function of incompleteness in his work, while map, globe, and the characteristic body posture refer to the central value of motion and of a way of „writing face to face with the objects“. The presence of writing materials in the paintings is striking which may be understood as an indication to the lifelong importance of the American Travel Diaries. They in turn represent   the central themes of the Humboldtian Science. The characterization of work in progress and the consistent relational dimension of the representation indicate the epistemological constants of this science just as well as the dimension of corporality which emerges recognizably from the handwriting.

N2  - El presente trabajo gira en torno al inexpugnable vínculo entre naturaleza y cultura y la 'no naturalidad' de la primera, producto de las milenarias intervenciones del hombre, subsumido bajo el término del 'antropoceno'. Los filósofos franceses Bruno Latour y Philippe Descola supieron destacar, aunque por caminos diferentes, la importancia de este nexo para asegurar la supervivencia del hombre; Bruno Latour centra sus reflexiones en la política de la naturaleza y  Philippe Descola destaca el carácter ecológico de la naturaleza y la cultura. Sin embargo, ambos dejan de lado las literaturas del mundo y su capacidad de atesorar los diversos diseños del saber convivir entre hombre y naturaleza y las nociones de sustentabilidad. Descuella además la inspiración que Descola encuentra en la figura del gran erudito Alexander von Humboldt, quien en el siglo XIX ya daba fe de la relación inextricable entre naturaleza y cultura en innumerables testimonios, entre otros, el Chimborazo que, como cuadro global es representativo para entender que la naturaleza desde siempre ha sido cultura y la cultura es inimaginble sin la naturaleza.
N2  - Im Vordergrund der vorliegenden Arbeit steht die unauflösbare Beziehung von Natur und Kultur, sowie die Nicht-Natürlichkeit derselben, Produkt der jahrhundertealten Eingriffe des Menschen, subsummiert unter dem Begriff des Anthropozän. Die französischen Philosophen  Bruno Latour und Philippe Descola hoben, wenn auch auf unterschiedlichen Wegen, die Bedeutung dieses Zusammenhanges für die Gegenwart und Zukunft der Menschheit hervor; Bruno Latour konzentrier sich auf die Politik der Natur, Philippe Descola unterstreicht den ökologischen Charakter von Natur und Kultur. Beide lassen jedoch die Literaturen der Welt und ihre Fähigkeiten, die unterschiedlichen Entwürfe des Zusammenlebens und die Grundlagen der Nachhaltigkeit zu speichern, außen vor. Es wird auch auf Descolas Inspiration in der Figur des herausragenden Gelehrten Alexander von Humboldt eingegangen, der schon im 19. Jahrhundert in unzähligen Zeugnissen, unter anderem, das über den Chimborazo, das stellvertretend für ein Weltgemälde ist, auf die Unzertrennlichkeit von Natur und Kultur hingewiesen hatte.
N2  - This paper investigates the inextricable correlation between nature and culture and the 'no naturality' of the first, product of men's millenarian interventions, subsumed in the word "anthropocene". French philosophers Bruno Latour and Philippe Descola emphasized, in different ways, the importance of this relation for humans present and future. Bruno Latour works out the politics of nature, Philippe Descola underscore the ecological character of nature and culture. Both disregard the literatures of the world and their capabilities to store different drafts of conviviality and the fundaments of sustainability. Descolas inspiration in the outstanding figure of the 19th century, Alexander von Humboldt is also mentioned, and the inseparableness of nature and culture which the erudite distinguished in innumerable testimonies, for example, the one about the Chimborazo.

N2  - El proyecto de larga duración “Centro Alejandro de Humboldt – Ciencia en movimiento” (iniciado en 2015) de la Academia de las Ciencias y Humanidades Berlín-Brandemburgo tiene como objetivo la edición de los manuscritos de viaje del famoso autor, naturalista, cosmopólito y viajero. La edición incluirá los manuscritos de sus dos viajes hemisféricos (América, Asia) como también los de su legado literario. La pregunta esencial que acompaña las investigaciones en torno al proyecto de la Academia es la importancia que Humboldt le da a la vida y a la convivencia. Los tres pilares en los que descansa la reflexión son:  la relacionalidad, la concomitancia entre ciencia y estética y el movimiento.
N2  - Das Langzeitvorhaben “Alexander von Humboldt auf Reisen – Wissenschaft aus der Bewegung“, das 2015 an der Berlin-Brandenburgischen Akademie der Wissenschaften begann, umfasst die vollständige Edition der Manuskripte Alexander von Humboldts zum Themenkomplex Reisen an der Schnittstelle von Kultur- und Naturwissenschaften. Die Frage nach dem Leben und dem Zusammenleben bei Humboldt begleitet die Forschungsprojekte rund um das Vorhaben. Die Überlegungen beruhen auf drei Säulen: Relationalität, Wechselbeziehung von Wissenschaft und Ästhetik und Bewegung.
N2  - The long-term research project “Traveling Humboldt – Science on the move”, which started in 2015 at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, involves the complete edition of the manuscripts of Alexander von Humboldt on the topical complex ‘journeys’. The research projects accompanying the Academy project focus on Humboldt’s concept of life and conviviality. These focus points center around three pillars: relationality, the reciprocity of science and aesthetics and movement.
