Presupposition projection behavior in certain examples appears to favor a presuppositional analysis of focus. It is argued that these examples are open to a different analysis using givenness theory. Overall, the analysis favors a weak semantics for focus not including an existential presupposition.}, language = {en} } @misc{AbutalebiClahsen2015, author = {Abutalebi, Jubin and Clahsen, Harald}, title = {Bilingualism, cognition, and aging}, series = {Postprints der Universit{\"a}t Potsdam Humanwissenschaftliche Reihe}, journal = {Postprints der Universit{\"a}t Potsdam Humanwissenschaftliche Reihe}, number = {508}, issn = {1866-8364}, doi = {10.25932/publishup-41473}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:kobv:517-opus4-414730}, pages = {2}, year = {2015}, abstract = {Extract: Topics in psycholinguistics and the neurocognition of language rarely attract the attention of journalists or the general public. One topic that has done so, however, is the potential benefits of bilingualism for general cognitive functioning and development, and as a precaution against cognitive decline in old age. Sensational claims have been made in the public domain, mostly by journalists and politicians. Recently (September 4, 2014) The Guardian reported that "learning a foreign language can increase the size of your brain", and Michael Gove, the UK's previous Education Secretary, noted in an interview with The Guardian (September 30, 2011) that "learning languages makes you smarter". The present issue of BLC addresses these topics by providing a state-of-the-art overview of theoretical and experimental research on the role of bilingualism for cognition in children and adults.}, language = {en} } @misc{AdaniForgiariniGuastietal.2014, author = {Adani, Flavia and Forgiarini, Matteo and Guasti, Maria Teresa and Van der Lely, Heather K. We compared the performance of a group of English-speaking children with G-SLI (mean age: 12; 11) with that of two groups of younger typically developing (TD) children, matched on grammar and receptive vocabulary, respectively. All groups were more accurate on subject-extracted relative clauses than object-extracted ones and, crucially, they all showed greater accuracy for sentences with dissimilar number features (i.e., one singular, one plural) on the head noun and the embedded DP. These findings are interpreted in the light of current psycholinguistic models of sentence comprehension in TD children and provide further insight into the linguistic nature of G-SLI.}, language = {en} } @misc{AdaniStegenwallnerSchuetzHaendleretal.2016, author = {Adani, Flavia and Stegenwallner-Sch{\"u}tz, Maja Henny Katherine and Haendler, Yair and Zukowski, Andrea}, title = {Elicited production of relative clauses in German}, series = {Postprints der Universit{\"a}t Potsdam : Humanwissenschaftliche Reihe}, journal = {Postprints der Universit{\"a}t Potsdam : Humanwissenschaftliche Reihe}, number = {409}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:kobv:517-opus4-405149}, pages = {25}, year = {2016}, abstract = {We elicited the production of various types of relative clauses in a group of German-speaking children with specific language impairment (SLI) and typically developing controls in order to test the movement optionality account of grammatical difficulty in SLI. The results show that German-speaking children with SLI are impaired in relative clause production compared to typically developing children. The alternative structures that they produce consist of simple main clauses, as well as nominal and prepositional phrases produced in isolation, sometimes contextually appropriate, and sometimes not. Crucially for evaluating the movement optionality account, children with SLI produce very few instances of embedded clauses where the relative clause head noun is pronounced in situ; in fact, such responses are more common among the typically developing child controls. These results underscore the difficulty German-speaking children with SLI have with structures involving movement, but provide no specific support for the movement optionality account.}, language = {en} } @article{AdeltHanneBurchert2013, author = {Adelt, Anne and Hanne, Sandra and Burchert, Frank}, title = {Verarbeitung von deutschen kanonischen und nicht-kanonischen Passivs{\"a}tzen bei Aphasie}, series = {Spektrum Patholinguistik}, journal = {Spektrum Patholinguistik}, number = {6}, editor = {Fritzsche, Tom and Meyer, Corinna B. and Adelt, Anne and Roß, Jennifer}, publisher = {Universit{\"a}tsverlag Potsdam}, address = {Potsdam}, issn = {1866-9433}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:kobv:517-opus-68559}, pages = {183 -- 199}, year = {2013}, abstract = {1 Einleitung 2 Fragestellung 3 Methode 4 Ergebnisse 5 Diskussion 6 Literatur}, language = {de} } @article{AichertStaiger2010, author = {Aichert, Ingrid and Staiger, Anja}, title = {Theoretische und therapeutische Aspekte der Sprechapraxie}, series = {Spektrum Patholinguistik}, volume = {3}, journal = {Spektrum Patholinguistik}, publisher = {Universit{\"a}tsverlag Potsdam}, address = {Potsdam}, issn = {1866-9085}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:kobv:517-opus-46915}, pages = {1 -- 34}, year = {2010}, language = {de} } @misc{AichertStaigerSchulteMaeteretal.2010, author = {Aichert, Ingrid and Staiger, Anja and Schulte-M{\"a}ter, Anne and Becker-Redding, Ulrike and Stahn, Corinna and Peschke, Claudia and Heide, Judith and Ott, Susan and Herrmann, Heike and V{\"o}lsch, Juliane and Mayer, J{\"o}rg and Rohnke, Lucie and Frank, Ulrike and Stadie, Nicole and Jentsch, Nadine and Blech, Anke and Kurtenbach, Stephanie and Thieke, Johanna and Schr{\"o}der, Astrid and Stahn, Corinna and H{\"o}rnig, Robin and Burchert, Frank and De Bleser, Ria and Heister, Julian and Bartels, Luise and W{\"u}rzner, Kay-Michael and B{\"o}hme, Romy and Burmester, Juliane and Krajewski, Melanie and Nager, Wido and Jungeh{\"u}lsing, Gerhard Jan and Wartenburger, Isabell and J{\"o}bges, Michael and Schwilling, Eleonore and Lidzba, Karen and Winkler, Susanne and Konietzko, Andreas and Kr{\"a}geloh-Mann, Ingeborg and Rilling, Eva and Wilken, Rainer and Wismann, Kathrin and Glandorf, Birte and Hoffmann, Hannah and Hinnenkamp, Christiane and Rohlmann, Insa and Ludewigt, Jacqueline and Bittner, Christian and Orlov, Tatjana and Claus, Katrin and Ehemann, Christine and Winnecken, Andreas and Hummel, Katja and Breitenstein, Sarah}, title = {Spektrum Patholinguistik = Schwerpunktthema: Von der Programmierung zur Artikulation : Sprechapraxie bei Kindern und Erwachsenen}, number = {3}, editor = {Wahl, Michael and Stahn, Corinna and Hanne, Sandra and Fritzsche, Tom}, publisher = {Universit{\"a}tsverlag Potsdam}, address = {Potsdam}, organization = {Verband f{\"u}r Patholinguistik e. A focused XP can occur in-situ or ex-situ. We argue that the optionality does not have its origins in the syntax: in fact, exactly one focused XP has to move to the designated focus position in the left periphery in the syntax. The alternation between in-situ and ex-situ rather arises at PF: either the lowest or the topmost copy of the focus chain is pronounced. The choice is determined by semantic-pragmatic factors, i. e., we see an interaction between PF and LF. This constitutes a challenge for a strict version of the Y-model of grammar.}, language = {en} }
