  abstract  = {This study adopts a cognitive approach to the analysis of the use of the Spanish imperfecto as a construal form for the conceptualization of state of affairs in certain journalistic texts. In doing so, the main focus of the study is to investigate cognitive processes like modalization and subjectivization, which are related to the speaker's standpoint and to his subjective, not grammatically motivated, decision to use the imperfective instead of the perfective form. By the help of the corpus programmes GlossaNet and CREA (corpus of the Real Academia Espa{\~n}ola) we analyze the imperfective use of some Spanish verbs, which are semantically perfective in nature so that the normative use would require a perfective form. In other words, we investigate how the speaker/journalist construes a reality or situation to be expressed by means of the imperfecto and show that this use of the imperfect is typical for journalistic discourse.},

  abstract  = {Este libro adopta un enfoque sem{\´a}ntico-funcional en el estudio de la imperfectividad en el espa{\~n}ol. La imperfectividad, como categor{\´i}a sem{\´a}ntico-funcional, encuentra afinidades con otras funciones sem{\´a}nticas, donde el valor de verdad de una situaci{\´o}n se presenta como indeterminado o impreciso como, por ejemplo, en la reproducci{\´o}n de citas y distanciamiento del hablante frente a lo dicho; de manera que la imperfectividad se solapa con la modalidad y evidencialidad. Asimismo, se analizan las funciones secundarias de la imperfectividad relacionadas con la modalidad epist{\´e}mica y evidencialidad indirecta en la prensa espa{\~n}ola. En todos los casos, los textos analizados proceden de corpus reales del espa{\~n}ol (CREA, Corpus del Espa{\~n}ol y GlossaNet).},

  abstract  = {The present study investigates the use of equivalents of the English adverbials seemingly and apparently with a specific morphological structure in Romance languages and Russian, i.e. Spanish al parecer, Portuguese ao parecer and ao que parece, French avoir l'air de, Italian all'apparenza and in apparenza as well as Russian по-видимому. The underlying hypothesis is that the function and syntactic behaviour of these adverbial locutions are motivated by their morphological composition. It is to investigate whether the adverbials may be used sentence-initially, parenthetically, as an adverbial with broad or narrow scope or as a component of a modalised predication. The adverbial locutions are treated as means of expression where evidentiality and epistemic modality represent overlapping functional-semantic categories.},

  abstract  = {The aim of this study is to analyze the semantic relationships between the TAM-categories in romance languages, i.e. how temporality, aspectuality and modality interact with each other and how they overlap. For this purpose, the TAM-categories are firstly approached from a semantic-functional perspective. Secondly, some of their means of expressions like the imperfect, future and the modal verb devoir are analyzed regarding their secondary values. It means how the imperfect and future can be used with modal values, apart from their temporal and aspectual values, and how the modal verb devoir can also be used to express temporality. This study is focused on the analysis of the interaction of the imperfect, future and modal verb devoir with other linguistic elements in the utterance, such as temporal or modal adverbs as well as the modes of actions or Aktionsarten (lexical aspectuality). The corpus for the qualitative analysis is based on examples taken from online French, Spanish and Italian journalistic texts as well as from the online corpora Corpus de la Real Academia Espa{\~n}ola (CREA), Corpus del Espa{\~n}ol, Corpus do Portugu{\^e}s, Frantext and WebCorp.},
