  abstract  = {The idea of a linguistic worldview was clearly expressed in German national romantic thought of the early 19th century, where language was seen as the expression of the spirit of a nation. Wilhelm von Humboldt argued that every language shaped the world-view of its speakers, but he also saw a possibility to improve human knowledge in the co-action of languages. The idea of linguistic relativity can be found in John Locke's statement that words interpose themselves between our understandings and the truth which it would contemplate and apprehend. In the 18th century, we can find formulations that our language accustoms us to arrange our ideas in a specific way, that some languages are more suitable for certain kinds of thought, or that metaphors have significant influence on peoples' thought. In the 20thcentury the Neo-Humboldtian school revitalised the idea of an influence of language on thought in a reductionist way. At the end of the 20th century, some authors, for example John J. Gumperz and Stephen C. Levinson, tried to rethink linguistic relativity and to prove it by empirical results.},

  abstract  = {The name Ideologues refers to a group of philosophers, psychologists, grammarians, educational theorists and medical specialists who for a short period from 1795 to 1805 determined the intellectual climate in France and sought to develop a science of ideas (id{\´e}ologie). The Ideologues had a rather reserved attitude to Condillac's (1714-1780) ideas and his sensualist sign theory. They strove for the perfection of language for the needs of thought and of scientific knowledge. The connections with the Ideologues can also be discerned in Russia. In the educational theory, Jean-Baptiste Maudru (1740-1808) was close to the Ideologues and, despite his insufficient knowledge of the Russian language, made some interesting remarks on the connection between the language and the national character. According to Maudru and in agreement with the Ideologues, different typologies of word order are not just an indication of greater or lesser closeness to the natural order. Rather, they indicate differences in national character, which manifest themselves in the specific character of individual languages. Maudru taught at the military academy in Saint Petersburg and published the first Russian grammar in France (Maudru 1802). In his grammar, he sought to link mechanically the specific features of languages and of national characters with the climatic influences. His attempt to revive the theory of climatic influences was criticized by Karamzin. Karamzin also treated the discussion of the metaphoric extension of word meanings as an absurd undertaking, which had no place in grammar.},

  abstract  = {Un changement de la fonction de la p{\´e}riphrase verbale espagnole estar+g{\´e}rondif a {\´e}t{\´e} reconnu depuis longtemps. D{\´e}j{\`a} Gili Gaya (1948: 114) avait mentionn{\´e} la construction suivante et il l'avait expliqu{\´e}e par l'influence exerc{\´e}e par des manuels de correspondance commerciale traduits de l'anglais : Estamos envi{\´a}ndole esta carta para comunicarle [...] au lieu de: Le enviamos esta carta […]. Comme en anglais, on trouve la p{\´e}riphrase espagnole estar+g{\´e}rondif avec des significations non-actionnelles et futures dans les corpus CREA et CORPES XXI de la Real Academia Espa{\~n}ola et dans le Corpus del espa{\~n}ol (Cuando el reloj d{\´e} las dos, estar{\´e} llamando por tel{\´e}fono. Ahora est{\´a} hablando el presidente.). Cette p{\´e}riphrase est fortement grammaticalis{\´e}e avec la signification aspectuelle et son apparition dans de nouveaux contextes est un ph{\´e}nom{\`e}ne int{\´e}ressant qu'on pourrait expliquer partiellement par le contact avec la langue anglaise. Dans le portugais br{\´e}silien, le m{\^e}me ph{\´e}nom{\`e}ne appara{\^i}t, tandis qu'il est absent dans le portugais europ{\´e}en. Les exemples trouv{\´e}s dans le Corpus do portugu{\^e}s expriment des d{\´e}clarations d'intentions ou des promesses qui seront r{\´e}alis{\´e}es dans le futur (O qual eu acho isso totalmente errado! Pois estou fazendo novamente um plano de neg{\´o}cios). Il {\´e}tait surprenant de constater le m{\^e}me ph{\´e}nom{\`e}ne de l'emploi comme expression de situations futures pour la p{\´e}riphrase fran{\c{c}}aise {\^e}tre en train de dans des vari{\´e}t{\´e}s parl{\´e}es en Am{\´e}rique du Nord. Dans le corpus FRAN (<http://continent.uottawa.ca/fr/corpus-et-ressources-electroniques/corpus/>), cette p{\´e}riphrase appara{\^i}t avec une plus grande fr{\´e}quence que dans des textes comparables en fran{\c{c}}ais europ{\´e}en. Dans les occurrences de la p{\´e}riphrase {\^e}tre en train de+infinitif dans le corpus FRAN, on peut constater des ph{\´e}nom{\`e}nes remarquables: le marquage de l'imperfectivit{\´e} et de la progressivit{\´e} dans des cas dans lesquels l'imparfait ou le pr{\´e}sent auraient {\´e}t{\´e} suffisants (Fait que tu {\´e}tais en train de me parler donc des nouvelles constructions dans le quartier); l'usage sans auxiliaire et en fonction attributive (des gens en train de parler fran{\c{c}}ais), l'usage pour exprimer une action future (cette ann{\´e}e euh on est en train de f/ de/ de transcrire). Beaucoup de ruptures apr{\`e}s {\^e}tre en train de indiquent la fixit{\´e} de la construction (l{\`a} on est en train de euh [phrase non termin{\´e}e]). Dans cette contribution, nous partons de la position selon laquelle le marquage de l'aspectualit{\´e} imperfective est une n{\´e}cessit{\´e} qui peut mener {\`a} l'usage de moyens d'expression plus sur{\´e}minents que les temps marqu{\´e}s aspectuellement. Le contact avec une construction de progressivit{\´e} grammaticalis{\´e}e peut induire l'usage multipli{\´e} de moyens d'expression p{\´e}riphrastiques, contribuer au changement de leur signification et acc{\´e}l{\´e}rer des processus de grammaticalisation. La base de tous ces changements est un pont cognitif entre la non-d{\´e}limitation propre {\`a} l'aspectualit{\´e} imperfective et la futurit{\´e} des situations d{\´e}crites. L'influence de l'anglais sera d{\´e}crite comme un ph{\´e}nom{\`e}ne d{\´e}clencheur d'un changement possible dans toutes les langues romanes qui ont une p{\´e}riphrase d'aspectualit{\´e} imperfective, m{\^e}me en fran{\c{c}}ais o{\`u} cette p{\´e}riphrase pr{\´e}sente une autre structure.},

  abstract  = {En apenas tan pocas lenguas, como en el espa{\~n}ol, se ha publicado tantos trabajos sobre la evidencialidad en los {\´u}ltimos a{\~n}os. No obstante, en ello se pierde de vista con frecuencia la verdadera funci{\´o}n de los marcadores de evidencialidad que hacen referencia al origen del conocimiento del hablante. Adem{\´a}s de los marcadores l{\´e}xicos, se consideran como medios de expresi{\´o}n de la evidencialidad incluso estructuras discursivas y expresiones proposicionales que hacen referencia a la fuente del conocimiento, alej{\´a}ndose demasiado de la restricci{\´o}n a los evidenciales gramaticales. En esta contribuci{\´o}n, se intentar{\´a} ordenar esta posici{\´o}n confusa y desarrollar un modelo de relaci{\´o}n entre la evidencialidad y temporalidad, aspectualidad y modalidad que tenga en cuenta la realidad de las circunstancias en el espa{\~n}ol y sus variedades. Se partir{\´a} de un planteamiento onomasiol{\´o}gico hacia los medios de expresi{\´o}n del origen del conocimiento del hablante; al mismo tiempo se analizar{\´a}n los medios de expresi{\´o}n en cuanto a su polifuncionalidad. La base emp{\´i}rica para este estudio ser{\´a} el an{\´a}lisis de un corpus (SketchEngine, CREA, CORPES XXI) sobre el condicional reportativo e inferencial y su relaci{\´o}n con el imperfecto evidencial y futuro inferencial en las diversas variedades del espa{\~n}ol, as{\´i} como las condiciones de uso de los adverbios evidenciales-epist{\´e}micos.},

  abstract  = {Le centenaire de la publication du Cours de linguistique g{\´e}n{\´e}rale (1916) de Ferdinand de Saussure nous a invit{\´e} {\`a} reconsid{\´e}rer l'importance de cet ouvrage et le r{\^o}le de son auteur pour la fondation d'une linguistique int{\´e}gr{\´e}e dans une s{\´e}miologie. Il n'y a aucun doute que cet auteur fut extr{\^e}mement important pour le d{\´e}veloppement de la linguistique structurale en Europe et qu'avec son concept du signe linguistique il a fait œuvre de pionnier pour le tournant s{\´e}miologique. Mais l'accueil favorable d'une th{\´e}orie dans le milieu scientifique ne s'explique pas seulement par sa qualit{\´e} int{\´e}rieure, mais par plusieurs conditions ext{\´e}rieures. This article does not claim to give an overview of the different directions of functionalism in linguistics. Rather, the aim is to present what Coseriu's view characterised as functional in his time and to what extent his theory outlined a path that still makes sense in functional-cognitive linguistics today.   abstract  = {The use of the word functional in the most diverse theories and approaches has contributed in no small measure to the confusion in linguistics today. This article does not claim to give an overview of the different directions of functionalism in linguistics. Rather, the aim is to present what Coseriu's view characterised as functional in his time and to what extent his theory outlined a path that still makes sense in functional-cognitive linguistics today. This will involve an examination of Coseriu's difficult-to-identify concept of function. Furthermore, the article will also show that functional thinking is relevant for current grammatography.},

  abstract  = {In recent years, the category of evidentiality has also come into use for the description of Romance languages and of German. This has been contingent on a change in its interpretation from a typological category to a semantic-pragmatic category, which allows an application to languages lacking specialised morphemes for the expression of evidentiality. We consider evidentiality to be a structural dimension of grammar, the values of which are expressed by types of constructions that code the source of information which a speaker imparts. If we look at the situation in Romance languages and in German, drawing a boundary between epistemic modality and evidentiality presents problems that are difficult to solve. Adding markers of the source of the speaker's knowledge often limits the degree of responsibility of the speaker for the content of the utterance. Evidential adverbs are a frequently used means of marking the source of the speaker's knowledge. The evidential meaning is generalised to marking any source of knowledge, what can be regarded as a result of a process of pragmaticalisation. The use of certain means which also carry out evidential markings can even contribute to the blurring of the different kinds of evidentiality. German also has modal verbs which in conjunction with the perfect tense of the verb have a predominantly evidential use (sollen and wollen). But even here the evidential marking is not without influence on the modality of the utterance. The Romance languages, however, do not have such specialised verbs for expressing evidentiality in certain contexts. To do this, they mark evidentiality - often context bound - by verb forms such as the conditional and the imperfect tense. This article shall contrast the different architectures used in expressing evidentiality in German and in the Romance languages.},

  abstract  = {Ram{\´o}n Campos was very much influenced by the sensationist views current in French linguistic theory and developed these further, even to the point of drawing radical conclusions. In his opinion, abstraction is solely possible by using words. According to his ideas, articulated spoken language is the essential prerequisite for higher thought processes. Furthermore, the adjectives which name characteristics are derived from nouns. Memory and the formation of general ideas are the result of the "gift of the word" and by no means are actions of the human mind. Sign language, which was accepted in French linguistic theory as a precursor of spoken language, is not enough for carrying out abstractions. The tendency of thought to concretise contributes to the dissemination of abstractions. No dependent or referential word can be understood as the original word. He also developed these ideas in his treatise De la desigualdad personal en la sociedad civil ('On personal inequality in civil society'), where they became the basis of a new ethics of communication. This paper intends to explore the concept of the "gift of the word", which according to Campos is the only instrument of abstraction and analysis. Applying this concept, human thought can be divided into two capacities or powers: imagination and memory.},

In die Betrachtung dieser drei Kategorien werden neben dem Tempus, Aspekt und Modus weitere Ausdrucksmittel, wie zum Beispiel Verbalperiphrasen, Adverbien und lexikalische Bedeutungen von Verben, einbezogen. Die Beschreibung erfolgt auf der Grundlage einer funktionalen Sicht der Grammatik und das Zusammenwirken verschiedener Strukturebenen der Sprache bei der Markierung temporaler, aspektueller und modaler Verh{\"a}ltnisse wird betrachtet. Neuere Forschungsans{\"a}tze im Bereich der Typologie und der kognitiven Linguistik werden ber{\"u}cksichtigt. Insbesondere wird die Interaktion zwischen den drei Kategorien, die in den romanischen Sprachen nicht streng getrennt sind, dargestellt. Im Zentrum stehen das Franz{\"o}sische, das Italienische, das Portugiesische und das Spanische, wobei auff{\"a}llige Erscheinungen in anderen romanischen Sprachen gleichfalls erw{\"a}hnt werden.   abstract  = {Deg{\´e}rando started out from the views of the French ideologists on the relationship of language and thought, but increasingly distanced himself from them. This is already evident based on the choice of reference authors and also on the increasing emphasis on empirical research. His prize essays reflect the fundamental changes in linguistic thought during the late 18th century. He was successful in the competition of the Institut National (1797/1799) and with another essay at the Berlin Academy (1802). His main argument against Condillac and the ideologists is that empirical knowledge does not depend on signs. Therefore, the development of better languages will not improve this kind of human knowledge.},

  abstract  = {En esta contribuci{\´o}n se explicar{\´a} la influencia que tuvo el Curso de ling{\"u}{\´i}stica general de Ferdinand de Saussure en la ling{\"u}{\´i}stica estructural, as{\´i} como el desarrollo de algunos conceptos prominentes en esta obra antes y despu{\´e}s de Saussure. El estructuralismo es un fen{\´o}meno que se ha caracterizado por ser una corriente importante de la ling{\"u}{\´i}stica europea y americana del siglo XX. Se demostrar{\´a} que la ling{\"u}{\´i}stica estructural no hace m{\´a}s que acentuar una actitud que ya se encontraba presente anteriormente en la ling{\"u}{\´i}stica y que todav{\´i}a sigue estando presente. Esto tambi{\´e}n se puede ver en Espa{\~n}a donde la ling{\"u}{\´i}stica estructural no se puede explicar solamente como una importaci{\´o}n tard{\´i}a. Tambi{\´e}n se observar{\´a}, por el otro lado, que el pensamiento de Ferdinand de Saussure, considerado el fundador del estructuralismo, es menos opuesto a todo lo que se considera ajeno al estructuralismo. En esta contribuci{\´o}n me propongo hacer una revisi{\´o}n de los conceptos que se consideran iniciadores del estructuralismo. La publicaci{\´o}n de los manuscritos de la ling{\"u}{\´i}stica general de Saussure (2002) permite adquirir una visi{\´o}n m{\´a}s amplia y m{\´a}s detallada de los conceptos de las teor{\´i}as ling{\"u}{\´i}sticas en cuesti{\´o}n.},
