  abstract  = {The aim of our article is to collect and present information about contemporary programming environments that are suitable for primary education. We studied the ways they implement (or do not implement) some programming concepts, the ways programs are represented and built in order to support young and novice programmers, as well as their suitability to allow different forms of sharing the results of pupils' work. We present not only a short description of each considered environment and the taxonomy in the form of a table, but also our understanding and opinions on how and why the environments implement the same concepts and ideas in different ways and which concepts and ideas seem to be important to the creators of such environments.},

  abstract  = {In this paper, we show how the theory of NP completeness can be introduced to students in secondary schools. The motivation of this research is that although there are difficult issues that require technical backgrounds, students are already familiar with demanding computational problems through games such as Sudoku or Tetris. Our intention is to bring together important concepts in the theory of NP completeness in such a way that students in secondary schools can easily understand them. This is part of our ongoing research about how to teach fundamental issues in Computer Science in secondary schools.   abstract  = {Development of competence-oriented curricula is still an important theme in informatics education. Unfortunately informatics curricula, which include the domain of logic programming, are still input-orientated or lack detailed competence descriptions. Therefore, the development of competence model and of learning outcomes' descriptions is essential for the learning process in this domain. A prior research developed both. The next research step is to formulate test items to measure the described learning outcomes. This article describes this procedure and exemplifies test items. It also relates a test in school to the items and shows which misconceptions and typical errors are important to discuss in class. The test result can also confirm or disprove the competence model. Therefore, this school test is important for theoretical research as well as for the concrete planning of lessons. Quantitative analysis in school is important for evaluation and improvement of informatics education.},

Wir sind sehr stolz darauf, die Serie herausgeben zu d{\"u}rfen und vor allem darauf, das Jubil{\"a}um mit so einem w{\"u}rdigen Inhalt zu begehen. Adam Mickiewicz (1798-1855) gilt als der gr{\"o}ßte polnische Dichter, vergleichbar mit J. W. v. Goethe in Deutschland oder John Byron in England. Seine Werke sind in viele Sprachen {\"u}bersetzt und dadurch in der ganzen Welt bekannt geworden. Bedeutende sorbische Dichter und {\"U}bersetzer, wie z.B. Jakub Bart-Ćišinski und Otto Lehmann-Wićaz haben seine Gedichte auch ins Sorbische {\"u}bersetzt, doch diese {\"U}bersetzungen sind verstreut und dem heutigen Interessenten kaum zug{\"a}nglich. Einige seiner bedeutsamsten Werke, besonders sein Versepos „Pan Tadeusz", sowie Teile seines dramatischen Werkes „Dziady" fanden erst in neuerer Zeit einen {\"U}bersetzer. Die vorliegende Edition, die eine Zusammenstellung aller bisher ins Sorbische/Wendische {\"u}bersetzten Werke des großen polnischen Dichters der Romantik darstellt, schließt diese L{\"u}cke nun.},

In den letzten Heften diskutierte WeltTrends die neue(n) Weltunordnung(en) des 21. Jahrhunderts. Einig war man sich in der Einsch{\"a}tzung, welche Rolle China in der Welt von {\"u}bermorgen {\"u}bernehmen wird: Es wird eine globale Macht sein. Ein Autor datierte sogar die {\"U}bernahme der hegemonialen Rolle der USA durch China pr{\"a}zise auf das Jahr 2035. Im asiatisch-pazifischen Raum versteht sich China als „Großmacht". Die Zahl der Nachbarn ist groß und China steht seit Jahrtausenden mit ihnen in einem spannungsreichen Verh{\"a}ltnis. Territorialkonflikte schwelen und brechen von Zeit zu Zeit aus. Auch die USA verstehen sich als pazifische Macht. Dies wurde durch Obama, dem „ersten pazifischen Pr{\"a}sidenten" der USA, zum neuen außenpolitischen Programm, das milit{\"a}risch untersetzt wird. Gef{\"a}hrlich, auch f{\"u}r den globalen Frieden, kann es werden, wenn in diesem Raum aus der Konkurrenz zweier großer M{\"a}chte ein Kampf wird. Das Rasseln von S{\"a}beln ist bereits h{\"o}rbar. Dass sich die chinesische Diplomatie dieser Herausforderung mit konfuzianischer Klugheit stellt, {\"u}berrascht.},

  abstract  = {Der internationale Standard CityGML ist zu einer zentralen Schnittstelle f{\"u}r die geometrische wie semantische Beschreibung von 3D-Stadtmodellen geworden. Das Institut f{\"u}r Geod{\"a}sie und Geoinformationstechnik (IGG) der Technischen Universit{\"a}t Berlin leistet mit ihren Entwicklung der 3D City Database und der Importer/Exporter Software einen entscheidenden Beitrag die Komplexit{\"a}t von CityGML-Daten in einer Geodatenbank intuitiv und effizient nutzen zu k{\"o}nnen. Die Software des IGG ist Open Source, unterst{\"u}tzte mit Oracle Spatial (ab Version 10g) aber bisher nur ein propriet{\"a}res Datenbank Management System (DBMS). Im Rahmen dieser Masterarbeit wurde eine Portierung auf die freie Datenbank-Software PostgreSQL/PostGIS vorgenommen und mit der Performanz der Oracle-Version verglichen. PostGIS gilt als eine der ausgereiftesten Geodatenbanken und wurde in diesem Jahr mit dem Release der Version 2.0 nochmals um zahlreiche Funktionen und Features (u.a. auch 3D-Unterst{\"u}tzung) erweitert. Die Ergebnisse des Vergleiches sowie die umfangreiche Gegen{\"u}berstellung aller verwendeten Konzepte (SQL, PL, Java) geben Aufschluss auf die Charakteristika beider r{\"a}umlicher DBMS und erm{\"o}glichen einen Erkenntnisgewinn {\"u}ber die Projektgrenzen hinaus.},

  abstract  = {Nur langsam scheinen jene Schockwellen abzuebben, die ausgel{\"o}st durch die Ergebnisse der PISA-Erhebungen seit mehr als einem Jahrzehnt die Bildungsrepublik Deutschland durchqueren und weite Teile der Gesellschaft in den Zustand regelrechter Bildungspanik versetzten. An der Schwelle zum 21. Jahrhundert belegte eine Reihe von Studien f{\"u}r das wiedervereinte Deutschland eine im OECD-Vergleich besonders ausgepr{\"a}gte Abh{\"a}ngigkeit des Bildungserfolges von der sozialen Herkunft. Als eine Konsequenz ist der Zugang zu terti{\"a}rer Bildung bis dato deutlich durch soziale Ungleichheit gekennzeichnet. Vor diesem Hintergrund leistet die vorliegende Dissertationsschrift einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur urs{\"a}chlichen Erkl{\"a}rung von Mustern sozialer Selektivit{\"a}t, die an den Gelenkstellen zwischen sekund{\"a}ren und postsekund{\"a}ren Bildungsangeboten sichtbar werden. Auf innovative Weise verbindet die Arbeit ein zeitgem{\"a}ßes handlungstheoretisches Modell mit einer komplexen Lebensstilanalyse. Die Analyse st{\"u}tzt sich auf Erhebungsdaten, die zwischen Januar und April 2010 an mehr als 30 weiterf{\"u}hrenden Schulen des Bundeslandes Brandenburg erhoben wurden. Im Mittelpunkt des Forschungsinteresses steht einerseits die Identifikation von sozial-kognitiven Determinanten, die das Niveau und die Richtung postsekund{\"a}rer Bildungsaspirationen maßgeblich vorstrukturieren sowie andererseits deren Verortung im Kontext jugendlicher Lebensstile. Das komplexe Analysedesign erweist sich als empirisch fruchtbar: So erbringt die Arbeit den empirischen Nachweis, dass die spezifischen Konfigurationen der best{\"a}tigten psychosozialen Pr{\"a}diktoren nicht nur statistisch bedeutsam zwischen jugendlichen Stilmustern variieren, sondern sich diesbez{\"u}glich erfolgreiche von weniger erfolgreichen Typen unterscheiden lassen.},

Somit werden mithilfe der Durchf{\"u}hrung einer explorativen Fallstudie dynamische F{\"a}higkeiten und deren Parameter untersucht und identifiziert. Hierzu wird zuerst das der Arbeit zugrundeliegende theoretische Verst{\"a}ndnis des Konzepts dargelegt um darauf aufbauend anhand narrativer Interviews mit Mitarbeitern des J{\"u}dischen Museums Berlin im empirischen Teil der Arbeit das Konstrukt auf den Untersuchungsgegenstand anzuwenden.   abstract  = {In the early days of computer graphics, research was mainly driven by the goal to create realistic synthetic imagery. By contrast, non-photorealistic computer graphics, established as its own branch of computer graphics in the early 1990s, is mainly motivated by concepts and principles found in traditional art forms, such as painting, illustration, and graphic design, and it investigates concepts and techniques that abstract from reality using expressive, stylized, or illustrative rendering techniques. This thesis focuses on the artistic stylization of two-dimensional content and presents several novel automatic techniques for the creation of simplified stylistic illustrations from color images, video, and 3D renderings. Primary innovation of these novel techniques is that they utilize the smooth structure tensor as a simple and efficient way to obtain information about the local structure of an image. More specifically, this thesis contributes to knowledge in this field in the following ways. First, a comprehensive review of the structure tensor is provided. In particular, different methods for integrating the minor eigenvector field of the smoothed structure tensor are developed, and the superiority of the smoothed structure tensor over the popular edge tangent flow is demonstrated. Second, separable implementations of the popular bilateral and difference of Gaussians filters that adapt to the local structure are presented. These filters avoid artifacts while being computationally highly efficient. Taken together, both provide an effective way to create a cartoon-style effect. Third, a generalization of the Kuwahara filter is presented that avoids artifacts by adapting the shape, scale, and orientation of the filter to the local structure. This causes directional image features to be better preserved and emphasized, resulting in overall sharper edges and a more feature-abiding painterly effect. In addition to the single-scale variant, a multi-scale variant is presented, which is capable of performing a highly aggressive abstraction. Fourth, a technique that builds upon the idea of combining flow-guided smoothing with shock filtering is presented, allowing for an aggressive exaggeration and an emphasis of directional image features. All presented techniques are suitable for temporally coherent per-frame filtering of video or dynamic 3D renderings, without requiring expensive extra processing, such as optical flow. Moreover, they can be efficiently implemented to process content in real-time on a GPU.},

  abstract  = {By means of the cluster expansion method we show that a recent result of Poghosyan and Ueltschi (2009) combined with a result of Nehring (2012) yields a construction of point processes of classical statistical mechanics as well as processes related to the Ginibre Bose gas of Brownian loops and to the dissolution in R^d of Ginibre's Fermi-Dirac gas of such loops. The latter will be identified as a Gibbs perturbation of the ideal Fermi gas. On generalizing these considerations we will obtain the existence of a large class of Gibbs perturbations of the so-called KMM-processes as they were introduced by Nehring (2012). Moreover, it is shown that certain "limiting Gibbs processes" are Gibbs in the sense of Dobrushin, Lanford and Ruelle if the underlying potential is positive. And finally, Gibbs modifications of infinitely divisible point processes are shown to solve a new integration by parts formula if the underlying potential is positive.},
