ERP systems in particular, which represent the dominant class of enterprise systems, are struggling to meet the new requirements at all levels of the architecture. Therefore, there is an urgent need to reconsider the overall architecture of the systems and address the root of the related issues. Given that many restrictions ERP pose on their adaptability are related to the standardization of data, the database layer of ERP systems is addressed. Since database serve as the foundation for data storage and retrieval, they limit the flexibility of enterprise systems and the chance to adapt to new requirements accordingly. So far, relational databases are widely used. Using a systematic literature approach, recent requirements for ERP systems were identified. Prominent database approaches were assessed against the 23 requirements identified. The results reveal the strengths and weaknesses of recent database approaches. To this end, the results highlight the demand to combine multiple database approaches to fulfill recent business requirements. From a conceptual point of view, this paper supports the idea of federated databases which are interoperable to fulfill future requirements and support business operation. This research forms the basis for renewal of the current generation of ERP systems and proposes to ERP vendors to use different database concepts in the future.}, language = {en} } @article{Burchert2012, author = {Burchert, Linn}, title = {Handlungspotential!}, series = {Perspektiven f{\"u}r morgen : Gedanken zur Zukunft von Politik, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft}, journal = {Perspektiven f{\"u}r morgen : Gedanken zur Zukunft von Politik, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft}, publisher = {Universit{\"a}tsverlag Potsdam}, address = {Potsdam}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:kobv:517-opus-60578}, pages = {50 -- 59}, year = {2012}, abstract = {Inhalt: - Es kommt auf den Einzelnen an - Konsum, Gl{\"u}ck und Freiheit - Das Individuum als Lebensk{\"u}nstler - Konsum, {\"A}sthetik und Lebenskunst - Neues Handlungspotential}, language = {de} } @article{Burchert2012, author = {Burchert, Linn}, title = {Vorwort : Perspektiven f{\"u}r morgen}, series = {Perspektiven f{\"u}r morgen : Gedanken zur Zukunft von Politik, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft}, journal = {Perspektiven f{\"u}r morgen : Gedanken zur Zukunft von Politik, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft}, publisher = {Universit{\"a}tsverlag Potsdam}, address = {Potsdam}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:kobv:517-opus-60526}, pages = {4 -- 7}, year = {2012}, language = {de} } @article{EibichBurchert2012, author = {Eibich, Peter and Burchert, Linn}, title = {Prognosen}, series = {Perspektiven f{\"u}r morgen : Gedanken zur Zukunft von Politik, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft}, journal = {Perspektiven f{\"u}r morgen : Gedanken zur Zukunft von Politik, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft}, publisher = {Universit{\"a}tsverlag Potsdam}, address = {Potsdam}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:kobv:517-opus-60546}, pages = {10 -- 21}, year = {2012}, abstract = {Inhalt: - Grundlagen der Statistik - Zukunftsfiktionen - Der Einfluss von Prognosen auf Gegenwart und Zukunft - Ethische Anforderungen und das richtige Verst{\"a}ndnis von Statistik}, language = {de} } @misc{FrielerLevermannElliottetal.2015, author = {Frieler, Katja and Levermann, Anders and Elliott, J. and Heinke, J. and Arneth, A. and Bierkens, M. Uncertainties of the climatic response to greenhouse gas emissions include the potential passing of large-scale tipping points (e.g. Lenton et al., 2008; Levermann et al., 2012; Schellnhuber, 2010) and changes in extreme meteorological events (Field et al., 2012) with complex impacts on societies (Hallegatte et al., 2013). Thus climate change mitigation is considered a necessary societal response for avoiding uncontrollable impacts (Conference of the Parties, 2010). On the other hand, large-scale climate change mitigation itself implies fundamental changes in, for example, the global energy system. The associated challenges come on top of others that derive from equally important ethical imperatives like the fulfilment of increasing food demand that may draw on the same resources. For example, ensuring food security for a growing population may require an expansion of cropland, thereby reducing natural carbon sinks or the area available for bio-energy production. So far, available studies addressing this problem have relied on individual impact models, ignoring uncertainty in crop model and biome model projections. Here, we propose a probabilistic decision framework that allows for an evaluation of agricultural management and mitigation options in a multi-impact-model setting. Based on simulations generated within the Inter-Sectoral Impact Model Intercomparison Project (ISI-MIP), we outline how cross-sectorally consistent multi-model impact simulations could be used to generate the information required for robust decision making. Using an illustrative future land use pattern, we discuss the trade-off between potential gains in crop production and associated losses in natural carbon sinks in the new multiple crop-and biome-model setting. In addition, crop and water model simulations are combined to explore irrigation increases as one possible measure of agricultural intensification that could limit the expansion of cropland required in response to climate change and growing food demand. This example shows that current impact model uncertainties pose an important challenge to long-term mitigation planning and must not be ignored in long-term strategic decision making.}, language = {en} } @article{Geschonke2012, author = {Geschonke, Sebastian}, title = {Zukunftsf{\"a}higkeit durch Nachhaltigkeit}, series = {Perspektiven f{\"u}r morgen : Gedanken zur Zukunft von Politik, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft}, journal = {Perspektiven f{\"u}r morgen : Gedanken zur Zukunft von Politik, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft}, publisher = {Universit{\"a}tsverlag Potsdam}, address = {Potsdam}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:kobv:517-opus-60553}, pages = {22 -- 40}, year = {2012}, abstract = {Inhalt: - Verschiedene Dimensionen der Nachhaltigkeit - Das Gemeinsame der verschiedenen Dimensionen - Das Streben nach einem besseren Verst{\"a}ndnis der Welt - Nachhaltigkeit - Ein allgemeines Modell der Nachhaltigkeit: Das »Existenzraum-Modell« - Das Metasystem Erde - Die Zukunftsf{\"a}higkeit der Gesellschaft}, language = {de} } @article{Grass2012, author = {Grass, N.
