  abstract  = {Der Beitrag "Humboldteanisierung des Westens? Die Bedeutung der Reise Humboldts f{\"u}r Europa und Lateinamerika" behandelt der preußischen emprischen Universalgelehrten, in {\"U}bereinstimmung mit dem von Ottmar Ette entwickelten Konzept, als einen, wenn nicht den wichtigsten Begr{\"u}nder der westlichen Moderne. Im Gegensatz zu den bekannten Gr{\"u}ndern der Moderne (Descartes, Kant, Buffon, Schiller, Hegel, Marx ... etc.) war Humboldt Empiriker und Globaldenker und er tat dies auf transkulturelle Weise, manchmal auch schon auf interkulturelle Weise; allerdings meist auf Basis der r{\"o}misch-klassizistischen Denktradition und {\"A}sthetik Europas. Der Beitrag arbeitet drei Wissenstypen Humboldts heraus und versucht zu zeigen, dass der Universalismus Humboldt wichtige interkulturelle Grundlagen in der Kommunikation mit amerikanischen Gelehrten und im amerikanischen Empirismus ("lokales Wissen") hat. Die Bedeutung einer solchen Konzeption der Humboldt-Reise zeigt sich - in der Negierung - in den gegenw{\"a}rtigen Debatten um Diasporas und "Race" im atlantischen Westen ("Black Atlantic"). Humboldt Kenntnisse der amerikanischen Sklavereien und seine absolute Verurteilung der Sklaverei ist dabei nicht pr{\"a}sent. Im zweiten Teil zeigt der Beitrag m{\"o}gliche Lesarten der Humboldt-Tageb{\"u}cher, indem er "imagin{\"a}re Humboldt-Essays" konstruiert.},

The article tries to analize also the "Ensayo pol{\´i}tico sobre la Isla de Cuba" as a key text of the second globalization ("industrial revolution"). Against the background of our knowledge about the reality at the beginnings of the 19th century the article analizes the humboldtian presentation of this reality during his stay in Cuba (1801/1804), confronting it with his "Essay" about Cuba (1826-1831), as well tries to demonstrate the position of Humboldt in the historical thinking. The third part explains the relations of Humboldt to the network of Cuban intellectuals and with some important personalities of the Cuban elite (Arango, Calvo) in the development of his work.},

  abstract  = {El erudito alem{\´a}n Alejandro de Humboldt que visit{\´o} M{\´e}xico en 1803, desaroll{\´o} en favor de una interpretaci{\´o}n cient{\´i}fica muchos esfuerzos para preservar los restos del "Museo hist{\´o}rico indiano" recolectado medio siglo antes por el italiano Lorenzo Boturini Benaduci, y confiscado por la administraci{\´o}n virreinal. El destino del poco afortunado coleccionista, sus ideas y el fracaso de sus intenciones provocaron una nueva b{\´u}squeda de los motivos y los resultados. Se discute el valor de las fuentes especialmente sobre los aut{\´o}ctonos del M{\´e}xico prehisp{\´a}nico que est{\´a}n a disposici{\´o}n de la ciencia. Se pregunta por las oportunidades y dificultades de recolectar documentos durante el tiempo colonial, y dentro de esto el caracter extraordinario y la eminente importancia de la colecci{\´o}n de Boturini. Adem{\´a}s se valora las obras de Boturini para la historia de la antropolog{\´i}a americana.},

  abstract  = {La interpretaci{\´o}n de petroglifos as{\´i} como de otros testimonios del arte rupestre hechos por grupos prehist{\´o}ricos es, sin duda, dif{\´i}cil en todas las regiones del mundo; pues retrospectivamente casi nunca se pueden descubrir las condiciones bajo las cuales fueron creados, a los hombres que los hab{\´i}an hecho, y sus ideas y deseos as{\´i} como los rituales en los cuales estas antiguas obras de arte jugaron un papel. Ya el famoso viajero alem{\´a}n Alejandro de Humboldt profes{\´o} admiraci{\´o}n a este arte rupestre el cual encontr{\´o} por la vez primera en Venezuela. Trat{\´o} de explicarlo como testimonio de una civilizaci{\´o}n pasada y de revelar su contexto cultural. Es interesante que las respectivas zonas arqueol{\´o}gicas hasta hoy d{\´i}a pueden tener un papel ritual como se reconoce en base a la utilizaci{\´o}n actual.},

  abstract  = {Alejandro de Humboldt se interes{\´o} mucho por el problema de comprender las manifestaciones del arte ind{\´i}gena de Am{\´e}rica. Bas{\´a}ndose su visi{\´o}n del arte en la educaci{\´o}n de la ilustraci{\´o}n y del humanismo, Humboldt lleg{\´o} a conclusiones que oscilan entre admiraci{\´o}n de los monumentos como tales de la historia e ideas del desarrollo del arte humana desde formas primitivas comparables con las de ensayos de ni{\~n}os hasta formas m{\´a}s elaboradas y primorosas de los griegos antiguos.   abstract  = {Die Sicht, die Alexander von Humboldt von indianischer Kunst hatte, kann man an den Notizen in den Reisetageb{\"u}chern erkennen, die dank des unerm{\"u}dlichen Wirkens von Margot Faak zug{\"a}nglich sind, und an vielen Bemerkungen in seinen Publikationen. Man kann beobachten, dass der deutsche Gelehrte Probleme hatte, arch{\"a}ologische Objekte des vorspanischen Amerika als Kunstwerke zu verstehen. Ursache dessen war seine humanistische Erziehung, welche die klassische griechisch-r{\"o}mische Antike als {\"a}sthetischen Maßstab favorisierte. Dennoch k{\"a}mpfte er zu Gunsten der Erhaltung derartiger Objekte, die er als historische Monumente charakterisierte.},

  abstract  = {Presentamos el art{\´i}culo publicado en la revista alemana Hertha en 1825, donde Alexander von Humboldt coment{\´o} su viaje por Espa{\~n}a y el estudio geogr{\´a}fico de la meseta, con una introducci{\´o}n a modo de ensayo, que sit{\´u}a el viaje espa{\~n}ol de Humboldt en su contexto. La argumentaci{\´o}n cient{\´i}fica es precisa, se dan las nivelaciones barom{\´e}tricas y se ofrece el perfil topogr{\´a}fico peninsular, lo que nos ha hecho considerar la necesidad de la traducci{\´o}n al espa{\~n}ol de este trabajo de Alejandro de Humboldt titulado Sobre la configuraci{\´o}n y el clima de la meseta de la Pen{\´i}nsula Ib{\´e}rica ({\"U}ber die Gestalt und das Klima des Hochlandes in der iberischen Halbinsel). La forma de presentaci{\´o}n de Humboldt de sus investigaciones en la Pen{\´i}nsula es bastante curiosa, ya que a pesar del tono estrictamente cient{\´i}fico de su escrito, gu{\´i}a al lector a trav{\´e}s de una carta a su editor el profesor Berghaus, con la intercalaci{\´o}n de notas de su Diario y con datos obtenidos de sus corresponsales espa{\~n}oles.},
