Previous studies reveal peak temperature conditions for the VG of about 740 A degrees C. The present study considers the remarkable exsolution phenomena in feldspars and pyroxenes and titanium-in-quartz thermometry. Recalculated ternary feldspar compositions indicate temperatures around 900-1,000 A degrees C just at or above the ultra-high temperature-metamorphism (UHTM) boundary of granulites. The calculated temperatures range of exsolved ortho- and clinopyroxenes also supports the existence of an UHTM event. In addition, titanium-in-quartz thermometry points towards ultra-high temperatures. It is the first known UHTM crustal segment in the northern part of South America. Although a mean geothermal gradient of ca 38 A degrees C km(-1) could imply additional heat supply in the lower crust controlling this extreme of peak metamorphism, an alternative model is suggested. The formation of the Vergel Granulite Unit is supposed to be formed in a continental back-arc environment with a thinned and weakened crust behind a magmatic arc (Guapotn-Mancagua Gneiss) followed by collision. In contrast, rocks of the adjacent Las Margaritas Migmatite Unit display "normal" granulite facies temperatures and are formed in a colder lower crust outside the arc, preserved by the Guapotn-Mancagu Gneiss. Back-arc formation was followed by inversion and thickening of the basin. The three units that form the modern-day Garzn Massif, were juxtaposed upon each other during collision (at ca. 1,000 Ma) and exhumation. Reliable data on evapotranspiration are not available for most lake basins for which paleoclimate reconstructions and modeling have been performed, particularly those in remote parts of Africa. We have used thermal infrared multispectral data for 14 ASTER scenes from the TERRA satellite to estimate the actual evapotranspiration in the 12,800 km(2) catchment of the Suguta Valley, northern Kenya Rift Evidence from sediments and paleo-shorelines indicates that, during the African Humid Period (AHP, 14.8 to 5.5 kyrs BP), this valley contained a large lake, 280 m deep and covering similar to 2200 km(2), which has now virtually disappeared. Evapotranspiration estimates for the Suguta Basin were generated using the Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land (SEBAL). Climate data required for the model were extracted from a high-resolution gridded dataset obtained from the Climatic Research Unit (East Anglia, UK). Results suggest significant spatial variations in evapotranspiration within the catchment area (ranging from 450 mm/yr in the basin to the north to 2000 mm/yr in more elevated areas) and precipitation that was similar to 20\% higher during the AHP than in recent times. These results are in agreement with other estimates of paleo-precipitation in East Africa. Some stations were moved after a certain time in order to increase the number of measurement points, leading to a total of 14 sites within the city by the end of the experiment. Recordings from 26 local earthquakes (M-l 2.2-3.8 ) were analyzed to compute the site responses at the 14 sites by applying both reference and non-reference site techniques. Furthermore, the Spectral Intensity (SI) for each local earthquake, as well as their ratios with respect to the values obtained at a reference site, were also calculated. In addition, a field survey of 233 single station noise measurements within the city was carried out to increase the information available at localities different from the 14 monitoring sites. By using the results of the correlation analysis between the horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratios computed from noise recordings (NHV) at the 14 selected sites and those derived by the single station noise measurements within the town as a proxy, the spectral intensity correction factors for site amplification obtained from earthquake analysis were extended to the entire city area. A total of forty-nine puppies, of two breeds, Labrador Retriever and Miniature Schnauzer, were randomly assigned to one of four treatment groups. Clinical examinations were conducted every 4 weeks. Data were analysed by means of a mixed model analysis with Bonferroni corrections for multiple endpoints. There was no effect of vitamin A concentration on any of the parameters, with the exception of total serum retinyl esters, and no effect of dose on the number, type and duration of adverse events. The reason lies not only in the specific type of the recession - which was favorable for the German economy structure - but also in a series of labor market reforms initiated between 2002 and 2005 altering, inter alia, labor supply incentives. However, irrespective of the mild response to the Great Recession, there are a number of substantial future challenges the German labor market will soon have to face. Female labor supply still lies well below that of other countries and a massive demographic change over the next 50 years will have substantial effects on labor supply as well as the pension system. In addition, due to a skill-biased technological change over the next decades, firms will face problems of finding employees with adequate skills. The aim of this paper is threefold. First, we outline why the German labor market reacted in such a mild fashion, describe current economic trends of the labor market in light of general trends in the European Union, and reveal some of the main associated challenges. Thereafter, the paper analyzes recent reforms of the main institutional settings of the labor market which influence labor supply. Later stages of the drug development processes, however, rely on pharmacokinetic compartment models while cell-level dynamics are typically neglected. We here present a systematic approach to integrate cell-level kinetic models and pharmacokinetic compartment models. Incorporating target dynamics into pharmacokinetic models is especially useful for the development of therapeutic antibodies because their effect and pharmacokinetics are inherently interdependent. The approach is illustrated by analysing the F(ab)-mediated inhibitory effect of therapeutic antibodies targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor. We build a multi-level model for anti-EGFR antibodies by combining a systems biology model with in vitro determined parameters and a pharmacokinetic model based on in vivo pharmacokinetic data. Using this model, we investigated in silico the impact of biochemical properties of anti-EGFR antibodies on their F(ab)-mediated inhibitory effect. The multi-level model suggests that the F(ab)-mediated inhibitory effect saturates with increasing drug-receptor affinity, thereby limiting the impact of increasing antibody affinity on improving the effect. This indicates that observed differences in the therapeutic effects of high affinity antibodies in the market and in clinical development may result mainly from Fc-mediated indirect mechanisms such as antibody-dependent cell cytotoxicity.}, language = {en} } @article{Kotowski2012, author = {Kotowski, Elke-Vera}, title = {Tanz auf dem Vulkan : die Jahre der Weimarer Republik}, isbn = {978-3-8148-0193-3}, year = {2012}, language = {de} } @book{OPUS4-33915, title = {Open innovation in life sciences : Konzepte und Methoden offeneer Innovationsprozesse im Pharma-Mittelstand}, series = {Innovation und Technologie im modernen Managment}, journal = {Innovation und Technologie im modernen Managment}, editor = {Braun, Andreas and Eppinger, E. and Vladova, Gergana and Adelhelm, Silvia}, publisher = {Gabler Verlag}, address = {Wiesbaden}, isbn = {978-3-8349-3090-3}, doi = {10.1007/978-3-8349-7105-0}, pages = {120 S.}, year = {2012}, language = {de} } @unpublished{LaubrockHohenstein2012, author = {Laubrock, Jochen and Hohenstein, Sven}, title = {Orthographic consistency and parafoveal preview benefit: A resource-sharing account of language differences in processing of phonological and semantic codes}, series = {Behavioral and brain sciences : an international journal of current research and theory with open peer commentary}, volume = {35}, journal = {Behavioral and brain sciences : an international journal of current research and theory with open peer commentary}, number = {5}, publisher = {Cambridge Univ. We compare for the first time results of high resolution climate model simulations with a standardised set of mid-Holocene moisture reconstructions. Changes in the simulated summer monsoon characteristics (onset, withdrawal, length and associated rainfall) and the mechanisms causing the Holocene precipitation changes are investigated. According to the model, most parts of the Indian subcontinent received more precipitation (up to 5 mm/day) at mid-Holocene than at present-day. This is related to a stronger Indian summer monsoon accompanied by an intensified vertically integrated moisture flux convergence. The East Asian monsoon region exhibits local inhomogeneities in the simulated annual precipitation signal. The sign of this signal depends on the balance of decreased pre-monsoon and increased monsoon precipitation at mid-Holocene compared to present-day. Hence, rainfall changes in the East Asian monsoon domain are not solely associated with modifications in the summer monsoon circulation but also depend on changes in the mid-latitudinal westerly wind system that dominates the circulation during the pre-monsoon season. The proxy-based climate reconstructions confirm the regional dissimilarities in the annual precipitation signal and agree well with the model results. Our results highlight the importance of including the pre-monsoon season in climate studies of the Asian monsoon system and point out the complex response of this system to the Holocene insolation forcing. These environments are currently vanishing because of increasing human pressure. Chirocephalus kerkyrensis is a fairy shrimp typical of temporary water bodies in Mediterranean plain forests and has undergone a substantial decline in number of populations in recent years due to habitat loss. We assessed patterns of genetic connectivity and phylogeographic history in the seven extant populations of the species from Albania, Corfu Is. (Greece), Southern and Central Italy. Methodology/Principal Findings: We analyzed sequence variation at two mitochondrial DNA genes (Cytochrome Oxidase I and 16s rRNA) in all the known populations of C. kerkyrensis. We used multiple phylogenetic, phylogeographic and coalescence-based approaches to assess connectivity and historical demography across the whole distribution range of the species. C. kerkyrensis is genetically subdivided into three main mitochondrial lineages; two of them are geographically localized (Corfu Is. and Central Italy) and one encompasses a wide geographic area (Albania and Southern Italy). Most of the detected genetic variation (approximate to 81\%) is apportioned among the aforementioned lineages. Conclusions/Significance: Multiple analyses of mismatch distributions consistently supported both past demographic and spatial expansions with the former predating the latter; demographic expansions were consistently placed during interglacial warm phases of the Pleistocene while spatial expansions were restricted to cold periods. Coalescence methods revealed a scenario of past isolation with low levels of gene flow in line with what is already known for other co-distributed fairy shrimps and suggest drift as the prevailing force in promoting local divergence. We then used molecular data to ask whether the phylogeographic patterns in this insular host-parasite system might follow similar evolutionary trajectories or not. We took advantage of a previous study describing the pattern of genetic structuring in the Philippine Bulbul across the Central Philippine Archipelago (6 islands, 7 populations and 58 individuals; three mitochondrial DNA genes). The very same birds were here screened for the occurrence of parasites by species-specific PCR assays of the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene (471 base pairs). Twenty-eight out of the 58 analysed birds had Haemoproteus (48\%) infections while just 2\% of the birds were infected with either Leucocytozoon or Plasmodium. Sixteen of the 28 birds carrying Haemoproteus had multiple infections. The phylogeography of the Philippine Bulbul mostly reflects the geographical origin of samples and it is consistent with the occurrence of two different subspecies on (1) Semirara and (2) Carabao, Boracay, North Gigante, Panay, and Negros, respectively. Haemoproteus phylogeography shows very little geographical structure, suggesting extensive gene flow among locations. While movements of birds among islands seem very sporadic, we found co-occurring evolutionary divergent parasite lineages. We conclude that historical processes have played a major role in shaping the host phylogeography, while they have left no signature in that of the parasites. We analysed 298 samples originating from 11 populations in Brandenburg using mitochondrial control region sequences and six polymorphic microsatellite loci. For comparison, we included one population each from Poland and Ukraine into our analysis. Within Brandenburg, we detected a moderate variability in the mitochondrial control region (19 different haplotypes) and at microsatellite loci (9-12 alleles per locus). These polymorphisms revealed a clear population structure among toads in Brandenburg, despite a relatively high overall population density and the moderate size of single populations (100-2000 individuals). The overall genetic population structure is consistent with a postglacial colonization from South East-Europe and a subsequent population expansion. Based on genetic connectivity, we infer Management Units (MUs) as targets for conservation. Our genetic survey identified MUs, within which human infrastructure is currently preventing any genetic exchange. In order to evaluate their genetic diversity and to support efforts towards their conservation, we analyzed genetic variation in similar to 600 base pairs (bp) of the mitochondrial control region I and at 12-19 nuclear microsatellite loci. The sampling covered extant populations, still occurring only on two islands (P. panini: Panay and Negros, A. waldeni: only Panay), and it was augmented with museum specimens of extinct populations from neighboring islands. For comparison, their less endangered (= more abundant) sister taxa, the Luzon Tarictic Hornbill (P. manillae) from the Luzon and Polillo Islands and the Writhed Hornbill (A. leucocephalus) from Mindanao Island, were also included in the study. We reconstructed the population history of the two Penelopides species and assessed the genetic population structure of the remaining wild populations in all four species. Results: Mitochondrial and nuclear data concordantly show a clear genetic separation according to the island of origin in both Penelopides species, but also unravel sporadic over-water movements between islands. We found evidence that deforestation in the last century influenced these migratory events. Both classes of markers and the comparison to museum specimens reveal a genetic diversity loss in both Visayan hornbill species, P. panini and A. waldeni, as compared to their more abundant relatives. This might have been caused by local extinction of genetically differentiated populations together with the dramatic decline in the abundance of the extant populations. Conclusions: We demonstrated a loss in genetic diversity of P. panini and A. waldeni as compared to their sister taxa P. manillae and A. leucocephalus. Pond restoration and construction is more and more accompanied by breeding and translocation programs. However, the appropriateness of translocations as a tool for conservation has been widely debated, as it can cause biodiversity loss through genetic homogenization and can disrupt local adaptation, eventually leading to outbreeding depression. In this study, we investigated the genetic structure of two translocated populations of the critically endangered fire-bellied toad Bombina bombina at its north western distribution edge using supposedly neutral genetic markers (variation in the mitochondrial control region and microsatellites) as well as a marker under selection (major histocompatibility complex (MHC) genes). While one of the newly established populations showed the typical genetic composition of surrounding populations, the other was extremely diverged without clear affinity to its putative source. In this population we detected a profound impact of allochthonous individuals: 100\% of the analyzed individuals exhibited a highly divergent mitochondrial haplotype which was otherwise found in Austria. 83\% of them were also assigned to Austria by the analysis of microsatellites. Interestingly, for the adaptive marker (MHC) local alleles were predominant in this population, while only very few alleles were shared with the Austrian population. Probably Mendelian inheritance has reshuffled genotypes such that adaptive local alleles are maintained (here, MHC), while presumably neutral allochthonous alleles dominate at other loci. The release of allochthonous individuals generally increased the genetic variability of the affected population without wiping out locally adaptive genotypes. We also discriminated between single and multiple infections. Thirty-one infected individuals harbored a single Haemoproteus lineage (14\%), 18 a single Leucocytozoon lineage (8\%) and 12 a single Plasmodium lineage (6\%). Of the 215 screened birds, 30 (14\%) presented different types of multiple infections. We recovered 81 unique haemosporidian mitochondrial haplotypes. These clustered in three strongly supported monophyletic clades that correspond to the three haemosporidian genera. Related lineages of Haemoproteus and Leucocytozoon were more likely to derive from the same host family than predicted by chance; however, this was not the case for Plasmodium. These results indicate that switches between host families are more likely to occur in Plasmodium. We conclude that Haemoproteus has undergone a recent diversification across well-supported host-family specific clades, while Leucocytozoon shows a longer association with its host(s). This task is difficult, because (i) representations might differ slightly, so some similarity measure must be defined to compare pairs of records and (ii) data sets might have a high volume making a pair-wise comparison of all records infeasible. To tackle the second problem, many algorithms have been suggested that partition the data set and compare all record pairs only within each partition. One well-known such approach is the Sorted Neighborhood Method (SNM), which sorts the data according to some key and then advances a window over the data comparing only records that appear within the same window. We propose several variations of SNM that have in common a varying window size and advancement. The general intuition of such adaptive windows is that there might be regions of high similarity suggesting a larger window size and regions of lower similarity suggesting a smaller window size. We propose and thoroughly evaluate several adaption strategies, some of which are provably better than the original SNM in terms of efficiency (same results with fewer comparisons).}, language = {en} } @phdthesis{Bilkay2012, author = {Bilkay, Taybet}, title = {Thiophen und Benzodithiophen basierte organische Halbleiter f{\"u}r aus L{\"o}sung prozessierbare Feldeffekttransistoren}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:kobv:517-opus-66164}, school = {Universit{\"a}t Potsdam}, year = {2012}, abstract = {Diese Arbeit befasst sich mit der Synthese und Charakterisierung von organol{\"o}slichen Thiophen und Benzodithiophen basierten Materialien und ihrer Anwendung als aktive lochleitende Halbleiterschichten in Feldeffekttransistoren. Im ersten Teil der Arbeit wird durch eine gezielte Modifikation des Thiophengrundger{\"u}stes eine neue Comonomer-Einheit f{\"u}r die Synthese von Thiophen basierten Copolymeren erfolgreich dargestellt. Die hydrophoben Hexylgruppen in der 3-Position des Thiophens werden teilweise durch hydrophile 3,6-Dioxaheptylgruppen ersetzt. {\"U}ber die Grignard-Metathese nach McCullough werden statistische Copolymere mit unterschiedlichen molaren Anteilen vom hydrophoben Hexyl- und hydrophilem 3,6-Dioxaheptylgruppen 1:1 (P-1), 1:2 (P-2) und 2:1 (P-3) erfolgreich hergestellt. Auch die Synthese eines definierten Blockcopolymers BP-1 durch sequentielle Addition der Comonomere wird realisiert. Optische und elektrochemische Eigenschaften der neuartigen Copolymere sind vergleichbar mit P3HT. Mit allen Copolymeren wird ein charakteristisches Transistorverhalten in einem Top-Gate/Bottom-Kontakt-Aufbau erhalten. Dabei werden mit P-1 als die aktive Halbleiterschicht im Bauteil, PMMA als Dielektrikum und Silber als Gate-Elektrode Mobilit{\"a}ten von bis zu 10-2 cm2/Vs erzielt. Als Folge der optimierten Grenzfl{\"a}che zwischen Dielektrikum und Halbleiter wird eine Verbesserung der Luftstabilit{\"a}t der Transistoren {\"u}ber mehrere Monate festgestellt. Im zweiten Teil der Arbeit werden Benzodithiophen basierte organische Materialien hergestellt. F{\"u}r die Synthese der neuartigen Benzodithiophen-Derivate wird die Schl{\"u}sselverbindung TIPS-BDT in guter Ausbeute dargestellt. Die Difunktionalisierung von TIPS-BDT in den 2,6-Positionen {\"u}ber eine elektrophile Substitution liefert die gew{\"u}nschten Dibrom- und Distannylmonomere. Zun{\"a}chst werden {\"u}ber die Stille-Reaktion alternierende Copolymere mit alkylierten Fluoren- und Chinoxalin-Einheiten realisiert. Alle Copolymere zeichnen sich durch eine gute L{\"o}slichkeit in g{\"a}ngigen organischen L{\"o}sungsmitteln, hohe thermische Stabilit{\"a}t und durch gute Filmbildungseigenschaften aus. Des Weiteren sind alle Copolymere mit HOMO Lagen h{\"o}her als -6.3 eV, verglichen mit den Thiophen basierten Copolymeren (P-1 bis P-3), sehr oxidationsstabil. Diese Copolymere zeigen amorphes Verhalten in den Halbleiterschichten in OFETs auf und es werden Mobilit{\"a}ten bis zu 10-4 cm2/Vs erreicht. Eine Abh{\"a}ngigkeit der Bauteil-Leistung von dem Zinngehalt-Rest im Polymer wird nachgewiesen. Ein Zinngehalt von {\"u}ber 0.6 \% kann enormen Einfluss auf die Mobilit{\"a}t aus{\"u}ben, da die funktionellen SnMe3-Gruppen als Fallenzust{\"a}nde wirken k{\"o}nnen. Alternativ wird das alternierende TIPS-BDT/Fluoren-Copolymer P-5-Stille nach der Suzuki-Methode polymerisiert. Mit P-5-Suzuki als die aktive organische Halbleiterschicht im OFET wird die h{\"o}chste Mobilit{\"a}t von 10-2 cm2/Vs erzielt. Diese Mobilit{\"a}t ist somit um zwei Gr{\"o}ßenordnungen h{\"o}her als bei P-5-Stille, da die Fallenzust{\"a}nde in diesem Fall minimiert werden und folglich der Ladungstransport verbessert wird. Sowohl das Homopolymer P-12 als auch das Copolymer mit dem aromatischen Akzeptor Benzothiadiazol P-9 f{\"u}hren zu schwerl{\"o}slichen Polymeren. Aus diesem Grund werden einerseits Terpolymere aus TIPS-BDT/Fluoren/BTD-Einheiten P-10 und P-11 aufgebaut und andererseits wird versucht die TIPS-BDT-Einheit in die Seitenkette des Styrols einzubringen. Mit der Einf{\"u}hrung von BTD in die Hauptpolymerkette werden insbesondere die Absorptions- und die elektrochemischen Eigenschaften beeinflusst. Im Vergleich zu dem TIPS-BDT/Fluoren-Copolymer reicht die Absorption bis in den sichtbaren Bereich und die LUMO Lage wird zu niederen Werten verschoben. Eine Verbesserung der Leistung in den Bauteilen wird jedoch nicht festgestellt. Die erfolgreiche erstmalige Synthese von TIPS-BDT als Seitenkettenpolymer an Styrol P-13 f{\"u}hrt zu einem l{\"o}slichen und amorphen Polymer mit vergleichbaren Mobilit{\"a}ten von Styrol basierten Polymeren (µ = 10-5 cm2/Vs) im OFET. Ein weiteres Ziel dieser Arbeit ist die Synthese von niedermolekularen organol{\"o}slichen Benzodithiophen-Derivaten. {\"U}ber Suzuki- und Stille-Reaktionen ist es erstmals m{\"o}glich, verschiedenartige Aromaten {\"u}ber eine σ-Bindung an TIPS-BDT in den 2,6-Positionen zu kn{\"u}pfen. Die UV/VIS-Untersuchungen zeigen, dass die Absorption durch die Verl{\"a}ngerung der π-Konjugationsl{\"a}nge zu h{\"o}heren Wellenl{\"a}ngen verschoben wird. Dar{\"u}ber hinaus ist es m{\"o}glich, thermisch vernetzbare Gruppen wie Allyloxy in das Molek{\"u}lger{\"u}st einzubauen. Das Einf{\"u}hren von F-Atomen in das Molek{\"u}lger{\"u}st resultiert in einer verst{\"a}rkten Packungsordnung im Fluorbenzen funktionalisiertem TIPS-BDT (SM-4) im Festk{\"o}rper mit sehr guten elektronischen Eigenschaften im OFET, wobei Mobilit{\"a}ten bis zu 0.09 cm2/Vs erreicht werden.}, language = {de} } @phdthesis{Bomm2012, author = {Bomm, Jana}, title = {Von Gold Plasmonen und Exzitonen : Synthese, Charakterisierung und Applikationen von Gold Nanopartikeln}, url = {http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:kobv:517-opus-66402}, school = {Universit{\"a}t Potsdam}, year = {2012}, abstract = {In dieser Arbeit wurden sph{\"a}rische Gold Nanopartikel (NP) mit einem Durchmesser gr{\"o}ßer ~ 2 nm, Gold Quantenpunkte (QDs) mit einem Durchmesser kleiner ~ 2 nm sowie Gold Nanost{\"a}bchen (NRs) unterschiedlicher L{\"a}nge hergestellt und optisch charakterisiert. Sph{\"a}rische Gold NP zeigen eine Plasmonenbande bei ~ 520 nm, die auf die kollektive Oszillation von Elektronen zur{\"u}ckzuf{\"u}hren ist. Gold NRs weisen aufgrund ihrer anisotropen Form zwei Plasmonenbanden auf, eine transversale Plasmonenbande bei ~ 520 nm und eine longitudinale Plasmonenbande, die vom L{\"a}nge-zu-Durchmesser-Verh{\"a}ltnis der Gold NRs abh{\"a}ngig ist. Gold QDs besitzen keine Plasmonenbande, da ihre Elektronen Quantenbeschr{\"a}nkungen unterliegen. Gold QDs zeigen jedoch aufgrund diskreter Energieniveaus und einer Bandl{\"u}cke Photolumineszenz (PL). Die synthetisierten Gold QDs besitzen eine Breitbandlumineszenz im Bereich von ~ 500-800 nm, wobei die Lumineszenz-eigenschaften (Emissionspeak, Quantenausbeute, Lebenszeiten) stark von den Herstellungs-bedingungen und den Oberfl{\"a}chenliganden abh{\"a}ngen. Die PL in Gold QDs ist ein sehr komplexes Ph{\"a}nomen und r{\"u}hrt vermutlich von Singulett- und Triplett-Zust{\"a}nden her. Gold NRs und Gold QDs konnten in verschiedene Polymere wie bspw. Cellulosetriacetat eingearbeitet werden. Polymernanokomposite mit Gold NRs wurden erstmals unter definierten Bedingungen mechanisch gezogen, um Filme mit optisch anisotropen (richtungsabh{\"a}ngigen) Eigenschaften zu erhalten. Zudem wurde das Temperaturverhalten von Gold NRs und Gold QDs untersucht. Es konnte gezeigt werden, dass eine lokale Variation der Gr{\"o}ße und Form von Gold NRs in Polymernanokompositen durch Temperaturerh{\"o}hung auf 225-250 °C erzielt werden kann. Es zeigte sich, dass die PL der Gold QDs stark temperaturabh{\"a}ngig ist, wodurch die PL QY der Proben beim Abk{\"u}hlen (-7 °C) auf knapp 30 \% verdoppelt und beim Erhitzen auf 70 °C nahezu vollst{\"a}ndig gel{\"o}scht werden konnte. Es konnte demonstriert werden, dass die L{\"a}nge der Alkylkette des Oberfl{\"a}chenliganden einen Einfluss auf die Temperaturstabilit{\"a}t der Gold QDs hat. Zudem wurden verschiedene neuartige und optisch anisotrope Sicherheitslabels mit Gold NRs sowie thermosensitive Sicherheitslabel mit Gold QDs entwickelt. This has been largely in the context of decentralization reforms in which central governments transfer (share) political, administrative, fiscal and economic powers and functions to sub-national units. Despite the great international support and advocacy for participatory governance where citizen's voice plays a key role in decision making of decentralized service delivery, there is a notable dearth of empirical evidence as to the effect of such participation. This is the question this study sought to answer based on a case study of direct citizen participation in Local Authorities (LAs) in Kenya. This is as formally provided for by the Local Authority Service Delivery Action Plan (LASDAP) framework that was established to ensure citizens play a central role in planning and budgeting, implementation and monitoring of locally identified services towards improving livelihoods and reducing poverty. Influence of participation was assessed in terms of how it affected five key determinants of effective service delivery namely: efficient allocation of resources; equity in service delivery; accountability and reduction of corruption; quality of services; and, cost recovery. It finds that the participation of citizens is minimal and the resulting influence on the decentralized service delivery negligible. It concludes that despite the dismal performance of citizen participation, LASDAP has played a key role towards institutionalizing citizen participation that future structures will build on. It recommends that an effective framework of citizen participation should be one that is not directly linked to politicians; one that is founded on a legal framework and where citizens have a legal recourse opportunity; and, one that obliges LA officials both to implement what citizen's proposals which meet the set criteria as well as to account for their actions in the management of public resources.}, language = {en} } @incollection{BalderjahnPeyer2012, author = {Balderjahn, Ingo and Peyer, Mathias}, title = {Soziales Konsumbewusstsein: Skalenentwicklung und -validierung}, series = {Nachhaltigkeit - Unternehmerisches Handeln in globaler Verantwortung}, booktitle = {Nachhaltigkeit - Unternehmerisches Handeln in globaler Verantwortung}, editor = {Corsten, Hans and Roth, Stefan}, publisher = {Springer Gabler}, address = {Wiesbaden}, isbn = {978-3-8349-3179-5}, publisher = {Universit{\"a}t Potsdam}, pages = {93 -- 112}, year = {2012}, language = {de} }
