  abstract  = {Presentamos el art{\´i}culo publicado en la revista alemana Hertha en 1825, donde Alexander von Humboldt coment{\´o} su viaje por Espa{\~n}a y el estudio geogr{\´a}fico de la meseta, con una introducci{\´o}n a modo de ensayo, que sit{\´u}a el viaje espa{\~n}ol de Humboldt en su contexto. La argumentaci{\´o}n cient{\´i}fica es precisa, se dan las nivelaciones barom{\´e}tricas y se ofrece el perfil topogr{\´a}fico peninsular, lo que nos ha hecho considerar la necesidad de la traducci{\´o}n al espa{\~n}ol de este trabajo de Alejandro de Humboldt titulado Sobre la configuraci{\´o}n y el clima de la meseta de la Pen{\´i}nsula Ib{\´e}rica ({\"U}ber die Gestalt und das Klima des Hochlandes in der iberischen Halbinsel). La forma de presentaci{\´o}n de Humboldt de sus investigaciones en la Pen{\´i}nsula es bastante curiosa, ya que a pesar del tono estrictamente cient{\´i}fico de su escrito, gu{\´i}a al lector a trav{\´e}s de una carta a su editor el profesor Berghaus, con la intercalaci{\´o}n de notas de su Diario y con datos obtenidos de sus corresponsales espa{\~n}oles.},

  abstract  = {En este art{\´i}culo estudiamos el reconocimiento de Humboldt y su obra en un momento tard{\´i}o de su vida, ya en el reinado de Isabel II (1844-68), cuando recibi{\´o} en 1847 en Potsdam la Gran Cruz de la Real y Distinguida {\´O}rden Espa{\~n}ola de Carlos III, que fue fundada por Carlos III en el a{\~n}o 1771 y se da desde entonces a ciudadanos selectos por m{\´e}ritos especiales relacionados con la corte. Publicamos tambi{\´e}n la carta desconocida que envi{\´o} Humboldt al duque de Sotomayor dando las gracias por la entrega de la condecoraci{\´o}n (9-8-1848). Incluimos tambi{\´e}n en este estudio los nombramientos previos como miembro correspondiente del Real Jard{\´i}n Bot{\´a}nico, de la Real Academia M{\´e}dica Matritense y de la Real Academia de Ciencias, donde era presidente Antonio Rem{\´o}n Zarco del Valle, personaje que parece tener mucha importancia en el reconocimiento pol{\´i}tico de la reina Isabel II por las potencias centroeuropeas.},

  abstract  = {Este estudio ofrece una visi{\´o}n muy general de la estancia de Alexander von Humboldt en Espa{\~n}a en el primer semestre de 1799 as{\´i} como de la preparaci{\´o}n de su viaje americano durante ese espacio de tiempo. Gracias a diversos documentos que han podido ser localizados en el transcurso de un proyecto de investigaci{\´o}n sobre este tema se han podido llenar unos vanos en la investigaci{\´o}n humboldtiana. Se presentan los motivos por los que el prusiano, junto a su compa{\~n}ero de viaje franc{\´e}s Aim{\´e} Bonpland, emprendi{\´o} el camino hac{\´i}a la Pen{\´i}nsula Ib{\´e}rica, su itinerario y las actividades cient{\´i}ficas llevadas a cabo por ellos. Adem{\´a}s, se analiza el significado que para {\´e}l tuvo su estancia en Espa{\~n}a, interpretado a partir de sus propios escritos, y se describe as{\´i} mismo su colaboraci{\´o}n con la comunidad cient{\´i}fica de Madrid. Especial atenci{\´o}n se ha puesto en detallar la preparaci{\´o}n administrativa en Madrid de su expedici{\´o}n a Am{\´e}rica, as{\´i} como los documentos creados y utilizados en este proceso. En el anexo se adjuntan dos documentos poco conocidos: la memoria entregada por Humboldt al rey Carlos IV y un pasaporte firmado por Mariano Luis de Urquijo.},

  abstract  = {Die besondere Beziehung zwischen Humboldt und Darwin, zwei der bedeutendsten Pers{\"o}nlichkeiten in der Welt der Naturwissenschaften und der Biologie des 19. Jahrhunderts, wird detailliert auf den verschiedenen Ebenen ihres Kontaktes analysiert, sowohl was das real stattgefundene pers{\"o}nliche Treffen betrifft, als auch hinsichtlich ihrer Korrespondenz und der Koinzidenz von Ideen. Dieser wechselseitige Blick zeigt uns wie sich die beiden Gelehrten gegenseitig wahrnahmen, ob sie wirklich versuchten, mit dem Paradigma ihrer bedeutenden Vorg{\"a}nger zu brechen, oder ob sie lediglich schrittweise das bereits erlangte Wissen erweiterten, bis es durch die Erstellung einer genialen Idee zu einem Bruch des bisherigen Wissens kommt. Bekannt ist die wiederholte Referenz von Darwin auf die Werke Humboldts, insbesondere auf die Tageb{\"u}cher des deutschen Naturwissenschaftler und seine Art der Beschreibung der amerikanischen Natur in ihrer ganzen Reichhaltigkeit. Weniger bekannt hingegen sind andere Verweise in seiner Autobiografie, sowie die wissenschaftliche Verwendung des Humboldtschen Werkes oder die Zitate in seiner Korrespondenz, die in diesem Beitrag aufgezeigt werden. Dar{\"u}ber hinaus wird die Verwendung der fr{\"u}hen Schriften von Darwin durch Humboldt in einigen seiner Publikationen, vor allem im Kosmos, erw{\"a}hnt.},

  abstract  = {Ever since our first research into Alexander von Humboldt's stay in Spain, the absence of an ensuing relationship between the wise Prussian and the Spanish Crown and Authorities had always surprised us. On starting new research, we found that indeed he sent his first work to Carlos IV from Rome accompanied by a letter of gratitude for the protection he had received during his American trip and submission to the Spanish Crown, which we now present. This first literary fruit of his voyage, which Alexander von Humboldt alluded to in the letter is the first instalment of his work Plantes {\´E}quinoxiales, Recueillies au Mexique, dans l'ile de Cuba, dans les provinces de Caracas, de Cumana etc., published in Paris in 1805.},
