  abstract  = {RESUME Cette etude propose d'explorer et d'identifier des moments particuliers oU le changement linguistique se produit, afin de confirmer ou de rejeter l'idee d'une periode specifique designee par le terme << francais preclassique >>, avec une rupture - ou frontiere chronolectale - detectable autour de 1630 (cf. Ayres-Bennett et Caron, 2016). Afin de verifier dans quelle mesure cette chronologie peut etre confirmee, il est necessaire de multiplier des analyses fines et pointues sur des traits linguistiques qui ont subi des changements a l'epoque en question et d'interroger une gamme de textes qui refletent la variation discursive et pragmatique, au lieu de consulter le canon des traditions textuelles actuellement disponibles sur des bases numerisees, qui sont essentiellement litteraires. C'est pourquoi nous avons consulte des sources de nature differente, qui pourraient attester des usages emergents, a savoir les corpus du Reseau Corpus Francais Preclassique et Classique (RCFC). Seront presentes les resultats de deux etudes de cas (la recategorisation des formes dedans/dessous/dessus/dehors et la montee des clitiques), abondamment discutes par les remarqueurs.},

  abstract  = {Als Alexander von Humboldt im Juni 1802 von Quito aus zum Rest seiner lateinamerikanischen Forschungsreise aufbrach, begleitete ihn, abgesehen von Aim{\´e} Bonpland, Carlos Mont{\´u}far bis nach Europa zur{\"u}ck begleitet, u.a. auch auf beim Versuch, den Chimborazo zu ersteigen. Bis kurz vor der Stadt Cajamarca im heutigen Peru schrieb Mont{\´u}far ein relativ unbekanntes Tagebuch zur Reise. Nach einem kurzen Ausflug in das Leben von Humboldts Begleiter steht im Zentrum der weiteren Ausf{\"u}hrungen die Frage, ob sein Tagebuch ein anderes Licht auf Humboldt und speziell auf den Aufstiegsversuch wirft.   abstract  = {In a previously published article in HIN under the title of "Eduard Dorsch and his unpublished poem on the occasion of Humboldt's 100th birthday," I elaborated on Dorsch's poem that was read in Detroit in front of a German-American audience on Sept. 14, 1869, a day widely celebrated in the US in honor of Humboldt. Although it was not surprising that Dorsch wrote the occasional poem in the first place given his affinities with Humboldt's world of thought, a discovery of a second occasional poem upon further research in Dorsch's voluminous papers was indeed unexpected, in this case read on the same date in Monroe, Michigan. Although there are a number of similarities between the Detroit and Monroe versions, there are enough differences that warrant this addendum to my original article.},

  abstract  = {En este documento se contrastan las observaciones de Humboldt acerca de los Incas en el Norte del actual Per{\´u}, en particular la Sierra de Piura, con las recientes investigaciones arqueol{\´o}gicas. Antes del tiempo de los Incas, la regi{\´o}n fue habitada por grupos amaz{\´o}nicos que fueron los ancestros de los J{\´i}varos, a cuyos descendientes Humboldt conoci{\´o} en Tomependa en 1802, cerca al Amazonas. Por ello, tambi{\´e}n se realiza un balance de las investigaciones arqueol{\´o}gicas acerca de los J{\´i}varos. Los planteamientos de Humboldt acerca de la Arquitectura Inca, su tipolog{\´i}a de asentamientos, y su secuencia constructiva de la red de centros y caminos han sido evaluados mediante las recientes investigaciones arqueol{\´o}gicas y nos permiten plantear la vigencia de sus ideas y considerarlo como el fundador de la Arqueolog{\´i}a cient{\´i}fica en Am{\´e}rica. Finalmente se propone la revaloraci{\´o}n de los sitios Inca y tramos de camino que {\´e}l observ{\´o} en 1802 y la creaci{\´o}n de la Ruta de Humboldt.},

  abstract  = {The starting point of this article is the occurrence of determiner-less and bare que relative complementizers like (en) que, '(in) that', instead of (en) el que, '(in) which', in Yucatecan Spanish (southeast Mexico). While reference grammars treat complementizers with a determiner as the standard option, previous diachronic research has shown that determiner-less complementizers actually predate relative complementizers with a determiner. Additionally, Yucatecan Spanish has been in long-standing contact with Yucatec Maya. Relative complementation in Yucatec Maya differs from that in Spanish (at least) in that the non-complex complementizer tu'ux ('where') is generally the only option for locative complementation. The paper explores monolingual and bilingual data from Yucatecan Spanish to discuss the question whether the determiner-less and bare que relative complementizers in our data constitute a historic remnant or a dialectal recast, possibly (but not necessarily) due to language contact. Although our pilot study may not answer these far-reaching questions, it does reveal two separate, but intertwined developments: (i) a generally increased rate of bare que relative complementation, across both monolingual speakers of Spanish and Spanish Maya bilinguals, compared to other Spanish varieties, and (ii) a preference for donde at the cost of other locative complementizer constructions in the bilingual group. Our analysis thus reveals intriguing differences between the complementizer preferences of monolingual and bilingual speakers, suggesting that different variational patterns caused by different (socio-)linguistic factors can co-develop in parallel in one and the [same] region.},

  abstract  = {Stephen Jay Gould wrote recently that "when Church began to paint his great canvases, Alexander von Humboldt may well have been the world's most famous and influential intellectual." Humboldt's influence in the case of the landscape artist Church is especially interesting. If we examine the precise relationship between the German explorer and his American admirer, we gain an insight into how Humboldt transformed Church's life and signaled a new phase in the career of the artist. Church retraced Humboldt's travels in Ecuador and in Mexico. If we compare the texts available to Church and the comparison of Church's paintings and the texts and images of Humboldt's works we can arrive at new perspectives on Humboldt's extraordinary influence on American landscape painting in the nineteenth century.},
