In sharing arrangements, facial appearance has been shown to affect the desire to collaborate, interest to explore a listing, and even willingness to pay for a stay. The present study examines the effect of different photographic self-disclosures on the provider's perceptions and willingness to accept a potential co-sharer. Our study explores how social media communication can be analyzed to understand the responses to health crises better. Results based on nearly 800 K tweets indicate that the coping and regulation foci framework holds good explanatory power, with four clusters salient in public reactions: 1) "Understanding" (problem-promotion); 2) "Action planning" (problem-prevention); 3) "Hope" (emotion-promotion) and 4) "Reassurance" (emotion-prevention). To shed light on the consequences of videoconferencing at work, this study takes a granular look at the implications of the self-view feature for meeting outcomes. Evaluation of our theoretical model on a sample of 179 employees reveals a nuanced picture. Self-view engagement while speaking and while listening is positively associated with self-awareness, which, in turn, is negatively associated with satisfaction with meeting process, perceived productivity, and meeting enjoyment. In order to evaluate teachers' and students' performances, a wide range of different quantitative questionnaires exist worldwide. One important goal of teaching evaluation is to increase the quality of teaching and learning. The author argues, that standard evaluations which are typically made at the end of the semester are problematic due to two reasons. The first one is that some of the questions are too general and don`t offer concrete ideas as to what kind of actions can be taken to make the courses better. The second problem is that the evaluation is mostly made when the course is already over. Because of this criticism, Apelojg invented the Felix-App which offers the possibility to give feedback in real-time by asking for the emotions and needs that occur during different learning situations. The idea is very simple: positive emotions and satisfied needs are helpful for the learning process. Negative emotions and unsatisfied needs have negative effects on the learning process. However, this development is not reflected in people's perceptions of wealth inequality, as the public tends to underestimate it. Research suggests that inequality estimates are derived from personal reference groups, which, as we propose, are expanded by social network site (SNS) use. As content on SNSs frequently revolves around events of consumption, signaling enhanced overall population wealth, this study tests the hypothesis that SNS use distorts inequality perceptions downward, i.e., increases the perception of societal equality. Responses of 534 survey participants in the United States confirm that SNS use negatively predicts perceived inequality. The relationship is stronger the more SNS users perceive the content they encounter online as real, supporting the assumption that observing other people's behavior online lowers estimates of nationwide wealth inequality. Previous studies show that e-mail newsletters commonly include tracking elements. However, prior work does not examine the degree to which e-mail senders actually employ gathered user information. The paper closes this research gap by means of an experimental study to clarify the use of tracking-based infor- mation. To that end, twelve mail accounts are created, each of which subscribes to a pre-defined set of newsletters from companies based in Germany, the UK, and the USA. Systematically varying e-mail reading patterns across accounts, each account simulates a different type of user with individual read- ing behavior. Assuming senders to track e-mail reading habits, we expect changes in mailer behavior. The analysis confirms the prominence of tracking in that over 92\% of the newsletter e-mails contain tracking images. For 13 out of 44 senders an adjustment of communication policy in response to user reading behavior is observed. Striving to increase privacy and security in e-mail communication, the paper makes three contributions. First, a large database of newsletter e-mails is developed. This data facilitates investigating the prevalence of e- mail tracking among 300 global enterprises from Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States. Second, countermeasures are developed for automatically identifying and blocking e-mail tracking mechanisms without impeding the user experience. The approach consists of identifying important tracking descriptors and creating a neural network-based detection model. W{\"a}hrend im letzten Symposium 2012 der Dozierende mit den unterschiedlichen M{\"o}glichkeiten der Studierendenaktivierung und Lehrgestaltung im Fokus der Diskussionen stand, werden in diesem Jahr in einem großen Teil der Beitr{\"a}ge die Studierenden ins Zentrum der Aufmerksamkeit ger{\"u}ckt. Dass nicht nur der Inhalt des Lernmediums f{\"u}r den Lernerfolg eine Rolle spielt, sondern auch dessen Unterhaltungswert und die Freude, die die Lernenden w{\"a}hrend des Prozesses der Wissensakquise empfinden, zeigt sehr anschaulich die Keynote von Linda Breitlauch zum Thema „Faites vos Jeux" (Spielen Sie jetzt). Der Beitrag von Zoerner et al. verbindet den Gedanken des spiele-basierten Lernens mit dem nach wie vor aktuellen Thema des mobilen Lernens. Auch in diesem Forschungsbereich spielt die Fokussierung auf den Lernenden eine immer herausragendere Rolle. Einen Schritt weiter in Richtung Individualisierung geht in diesem Zusammenhang der eingeladene Vortrag von Christoph Rensing, der sich mit der Adaptivit{\"a}t von mobilen Lernanwendungen besch{\"a}ftigt. Mit Hilfe zur Verf{\"u}gung stehender Kontextinformationen sollen gezielt individuelle Lernprozesse unterst{\"u}tzt werden. Alle Beitr{\"a}ge, die sich auf mobile Applikationen und auf Spiele beziehen, sprechen auch die zwischenmenschliche Komponente am Lernen an. So wird neben der Mobilit{\"a}t insbesondere auch der Austausch von Lernobjekten zwischen Lernenden (vergleiche den Beitrag von Zoerner et al.) sowie die Kooperation zwischen Lernenden (siehe Beitrag von Kallookaran und Robra-Bissantz) diskutiert. Der interpersonelle Kontakt spielt allerdings ebenfalls in den Beitr{\"a}gen ohne Spiel- oder App-Fokussierung eine Rolle. Tutoren werden beispielsweise zur Moderation von Lernprozessen eingesetzt und Lerngruppen gegr{\"u}ndet um das problem-orientierte Lernen st{\"a}rker in den Mittelpunkt zu r{\"u}cken (siehe Beitrag von Mach und Dirwelis) bzw. n{\"a}her am Bedarf der Studierenden zu arbeiten (wie in eingeladenen Vortrag von Tatiana N. Noskova sowie in dem Beitrag von Mach und Dirwelis beschrieben). In der Evaluation wird ebenfalls der Schritt weg von anonymen, akkumulierten statistischen Auswertungen hin zu individualisierten Nutzerprofilen im Bereich des Learning Analytics untersucht (vergleiche dazu den Beitrag von Ifenthaler). Neben der Schwerpunktsetzung auf die Lernenden und deren Mobilit{\"a}t r{\"u}ckt das Thema Transmedialit{\"a}t st{\"a}rker ins Zentrum der Forschung. W{\"a}hrend schon die Keynote mit ihrem Spielefokus darauf anspricht, geht es in weiteren Beitr{\"a}gen darum Abl{\"a}ufe aus der analogen Welt bestm{\"o}glich in der digitalen Welt abzubilden. Lerninhalte, die bisher mittels Bildern und Texten f{\"u}r Lehrende und Lernende zug{\"a}nglich gemacht wurden, werden nunmehr mit weiteren Medien, insbesondere Videos, angereichert um deren Verst{\"a}ndnis zu erh{\"o}hen. Neben den wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten am IMAF ist ein zweites Hauptziel f{\"u}r dieses Zentrum die Entwicklung und der Ausbau eines strukturierten Ausbildungsangebotes f{\"u}r Musterdynamik und angewandte Fernerkundung. Dies sollen gleichermaßen Masterstudenten als auch Doktoranden der Universit{\"a}t Potsdam und der mit ihr assoziierten außeruniversit{\"a}ren Institute nutzen. Zudem werden Kurse und Weiterbildungsveranstaltungen mit nationalen und internationalen Experten angestrebt. Neben diesen positiven Entwicklungen gibt es auch (noch ??) {\"u}ber einige M{\"a}ngel zu berichten: Das Sekretariat ist nach wie vor unbesetzt, die Finanzausstattung des Zentrums ist v{\"o}llig ungen{\"u}gend und die im Konzept f{\"u}r das Zentrum beantragte Wissenschaftlerstelle f{\"u}r Softwareanwendung ist nicht in Sicht. F{\"u}r einen Erfolg des Zentrums ist es unbedingt notwendig, dass sich diese Situation deutlich verbessert!! Forschungsschwerpunkte des IMAF R{\"a}umliche Muster und deren Struktur in der Umwelt R{\"a}umliche Muster sind in vielen naturwissenschaftlichen Disziplinen (Hydrologie, {\"O}kologie, Geologie, Biologie, Chemie, Physik) von zentraler Bedeutung. Z.B. bestimmen die r{\"a}umlichen (und zeitlichen) Muster von Bodeneigenschaften und Vegetation in ihrem Zusammenspiel mit den Mustern von Niederschlag und Strahlungsinput maßgeblich den Wasser- und Stoffhaushalt auf unterschiedlichsten Skalen und f{\"u}hren {\"u}ber R{\"u}ckkopplung wiederum zu Ver{\"a}nderungen in Klima, Vegetation und {\"O}kosystemen. Vom kleinr{\"a}umigen Transport von Schadstoffen und von der Hochwasserentstehung bis zur Frage nach den regionalen und globalen Ver{\"a}nderungen von Klima, Vegetation und Landnutzung seien hier nur einige Problemkreise genannt, in denen Muster und Musterdynamik eine zentrale Stellung einnehmen. Dar{\"u}ber hinaus liefert die Betrachtung der zeitlichen Ver{\"a}nderung von r{\"a}umlichen Mustern, in Erg{\"a}nzung zur klassischen Erfassung dynamischer Prozesse in Form von Messungen lokaler zeitlicher {\"A}nderungen, eine v{\"o}llig neue Perspektive auf Dynamik und er{\"o}ffnet damit v{\"o}llig neue wissenschaftliche M{\"o}glichkeiten. Aktuelle und sehr dr{\"a}ngende Fragen innerhalb dieses Forschungsschwerpunktes sind unter anderem: • Analyse der generelle Raumstruktur von Geodaten (Variabilit{\"a}t, Struktur, Konnektivit{\"a}t); • Thematische Verbindungen verschiedener Datenebenen und M{\"o}glichkeiten f{\"u}r deren Assimilation; • M{\"o}glichkeiten und Grenzen des Skalen{\"u}bergangs zwischen verschiedenen r{\"a}umlichen Aufl{\"o}sungen und Informationsquellen; • Ableitung der zeitlichen Dynamik bzw. Entwicklung von großen fl{\"a}chenhaften Datenfeldern. Angewandte Fernerkundung Wie keine andere Technik bietet die Fernerkundung in jeglicher Form (unter anderem Satelliten, flugzeuggetragene Sensoren, Wetterradar und auch geophysikalische Methoden) umfangreiche M{\"o}glichkeiten, r{\"a}umliche Muster und deren zeitliche Ver{\"a}nderungen zu erfassen. Allen Methoden der Fernerkundung gemein ist, dass sie nur indirekte Ergebnisse liefern. Das heißt, es besteht nur ein mittelbarer Zusammenhang zwischen dem beobachteten Signal, meist der Reflektivit{\"a}t oder Emissivit{\"a}t elektromagnetischer Strahlung in verschiedenen Spektralbereichen (optisch oder Radar), und der eigentlich interessierenden Gr{\"o}ße, wie dem Feuchtezustand der Vegetation, der Bodenfeuchte oder Bodenrauhigkeit, der Niederschlagsintensit{\"a}t, dem Zustand der Schneedecke oder der Ausdehnung eines Oberfl{\"a}chenfilms auf Gew{\"a}ssern. Ein Satellitenbild enth{\"a}lt beispielsweise immer die spektrale Signatur des r{\"a}umlichen Musters mehrerer der oben genannten Einflussgr{\"o}ßen, was die Extraktion oder Diskriminierung der eigentlich interessierenden Gr{\"o}ße erschwert. Dieser „vermischte" Charakter der Fernerkundungsdaten bietet aber auch immense Chancen. So lassen sich durch geeignete Interpretationsverfahren aus jedem mit hohem finanziellem und technischem Aufwand erstellten Satellitenbild zahlreiche und im Detail v{\"o}llig unterschiedliche Fragestellungen bearbeiten. Die Extraktion der gew{\"u}nschten Information aus dem Fernerkundungssignal f{\"u}hrt mathematisch gesehen meist auf die L{\"o}sung so genannter inverser, schlecht gestellter Probleme. Somit beinhaltet die interdisziplin{\"a}re Nutzung von Fernerkundung auch ein hohes methodisches Synergiepotential. Durch die heutigen technischen M{\"o}glichkeiten zur Archivierung auch sehr umfangreicher raumbezogener Informationen ist die Bearbeitung zu jedem beliebigen Zeitpunkt nach der Aufnahme m{\"o}glich - zum Beispiel bis entsprechend lange Zeitreihen und/oder geeignete Interpretationsverfahren zur Verf{\"u}gung stehen. Tats{\"a}chlich d{\"u}rfte der weitaus gr{\"o}ßte Teil der raumbezogenen Informationen, die in den bisher erhobenen Fernerkundungsdaten stecken, nur in Ans{\"a}tzen ausgewertet sein. Einer bereits sehr hoch entwickelten technischen Dimension der Fernerkundung steht ein gewisses Defizit im Umfang ihrer Anwendung in den verschiedenen naturwissenschaftlichen Disziplinen gegen{\"u}ber. Aktuelle und sehr dr{\"a}ngende Fragen innerhalb dieses Forschungsschwerpunktes sind unter anderem: • Nutzung der r{\"a}umlichen und inhaltlichen Breite von Fernerkundungsinformationen; • Verbindung mit automatisierten, u.a. geophysikalischen Methoden des „ground-truthings"; • Identifizierung der Grenzen bzgl. Repr{\"a}sentanz der Daten (spektral, raum-zeitliche Aufl{\"o}sung); • Verbindung unterschiedlicher Methoden der Fernerkundung und der Geophysik. Dieser Beitrag illustriert die o.g. Fragestellungen anhand einiger Darstellungen aus verschiedenen wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen und erl{\"a}utert 2 Beispiele zu beabsichtigten Forschungsprojekten: • Erfassung und Bedeutung von Boden-Oberfl{\"a}cheneigenschaften auf die Abflussbildung von Landschaften; • Ph{\"a}nomene des Stofftransportes in homogenen vs. heterogenen B{\"o}den.}, language = {de} } @inproceedings{BullerLaschewskyWischerhoffetal.2012, author = {Buller, Jens and Laschewsky, Andr{\´e} and Wischerhoff, Erik and Fandrich, Artur and Lisdat, Fred}, title = {Smart synthetic macromolecules recognizing proteins}, series = {Abstracts of papers : joint conference / The Chemical Institute of Cananda, CIC, American Chemical Society, ACS}, volume = {244}, booktitle = {Abstracts of papers : joint conference / The Chemical Institute of Cananda, CIC, American Chemical Society, ACS}, publisher = {American Chemical Society}, address = {Washington}, issn = {0065-7727}, pages = {1}, year = {2012}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{BoehmeWuttkeBenderetal.2023, author = {B{\"o}hme, Lukas and Wuttke, Tobias and Bender, Benedict and Teusner, Ralf and Baltes, Sebastian and Matthies, Christoph and Perscheid, Michael}, title = {From full-fledged erp systems towards process-centric business process platforms}, series = {Twenty-ninth Americas Conference on Information Systems, Panama, 2023}, booktitle = {Twenty-ninth Americas Conference on Information Systems, Panama, 2023}, publisher = {arXiv.org, Cornell University}, address = {Ithaca, NY}, doi = {10.48550/arXiv.2306.02995}, pages = {10}, year = {2023}, abstract = {Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are critical to the success of enterprises, facilitating business operations through standardized digital processes. Thereby, it is expected that humans will not be replaced by AI but work closely with AI-based technology ("augmentation"). Augmentation has ethical implications for humans (e.g., impact on autonomy, opportunities to flourish through work), thus, developers and managers of AI-based technology have a responsibility to anticipate and mitigate risks to human workers. However, doing so can be difficult as AI encompasses a wide range of technologies, some of which enable fundamentally new forms of interaction. In this research-in-progress paper, we propose the development of a taxonomy to categorize unique characteristics of AI-based technology that influence the interaction and have ethical implications for human workers. The aim of our study was to assess the impact of different dosing strategies (fixed dose or body size descriptor adapted) on drug exposure and the target concentration attainment for two different anti-TNFα mAbs: infliximab (IFX, body weight (BW)-based dosing) and certolizumab pegol (CZP, fixed dosing). For this purpose, a comprehensive pharmacokinetic (PK) simulation study was performed. Methods: A virtual population of 1000 clinically representative CD patients was generated based on the distribution of CD patient characteristics from an in-house clinical database (n = 116). Seven dosing regimens were investigated: fixed dose and per BW, lean BW (LBW), body surface area, height, body mass index and fat-free mass. The individual body size-adjusted doses were calculated from patient generated body size descriptor values. Then, using published PK models for IFX and CZP in CD patients2,3, for each patient, 1000 concentration-time profiles were simulated to consider the typical profile of a specific patient as well as the range of possible individual profiles due to unexplained PK variability across patients. For each dosing strategy, the variability in maximum and minimum mAb concentrations (Cmax and Cmin, respectively), area under the concentration-time curve (AUC) and the per cent of patients reaching target concentration were assessed during maintenance therapy. Results: For IFX and CZP, Cmin showed the highest variability between patients (CV ≈110\% and CV ≈80\%, respectively) with a similar extent across all dosing strategies. For IFX, the per cent of patients reaching the target (Cmin = 5 µg/ml) was similar across all dosing strategies (~15\%). For CZP, the per cent of patients reaching the target average concentration of 17 µg/ml ranged substantially (52-71\%), being the highest for LBW-adjusted dosing. Conclusion: By using a PK simulation approach, different dosing regimen of IFX and CZP revealed the highest variability for Cmin, the most commonly used PK parameter guiding treatment decisions, independent upon dosing regimen. Our results demonstrate similar target attainment with fixed dosing of IFX compared with currently recommended BW-based dosing. For CZP, the current fixed dosing strategy leads to comparable percentage of patients reaching target as the best performing body size-adjusted dosing (66\% vs. 71\%, respectively).}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{EbenhoehKartalSkupinetal.2013, author = {Ebenh{\"o}h, O. and Kartal, Oe. and Skupin, A. and Mahlow, S. and Steup, Martin}, title = {The role of mixing entropy in carbohydrate metabolism}, series = {European biophysics journal : with biophysics letters ; an international journal of biophysics}, volume = {42}, booktitle = {European biophysics journal : with biophysics letters ; an international journal of biophysics}, publisher = {Springer}, address = {New York}, issn = {0175-7571}, pages = {S73 -- S73}, year = {2013}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{EigelshovenUllrichBender2020, author = {Eigelshoven, Felix and Ullrich, Andr{\´e} and Bender, Benedict}, title = {Public blockchain}, series = {Proceedings of the 28th European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS)- A Virtual AIS Conference}, booktitle = {Proceedings of the 28th European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS)- A Virtual AIS Conference}, pages = {1 -- 19}, year = {2020}, abstract = {Blockchain has the potential to change business transactions to a major extent. The pandemic is fortunately over. It has once again shown how important digital education is. How well-prepared a country was could be seen in our schools, universities, and companies. In different countries, the problems manifested themselves differently. The measures and approaches to solving the problems varied accordingly. Digital education, whether micro-credentials, MOOCs, blended learning formats, or other e-learning tools, received a major boost. EMOOCs 2023 focusses on the effects of this emergency situation. How has it affected the development and delivery of MOOCs and other e-learning offerings all over Europe? Which projects can serve as models for successful digital learning and teaching? Which roles can MOOCs and micro-credentials bear in the current business transformation? Is there a backlash to the routine we knew from pre-Corona times? Or have many things become firmly established in the meantime, e.g. remote work, hybrid conferences, etc.? Furthermore, EMOOCs 2023 has a closer look at the development and formalization of digital learning. Micro-credentials are just the starting point. Further steps in this direction would be complete online study programs or full online universities. Another main topic is the networking of learning offers and the standardization of formats and metadata. Examples of fruitful cooperations are the MOOChub, the European MOOC Consortium, and the Common Micro-Credential Framework. The learnings, derived from practical experience and research, are explored in EMOOCs 2023 in four tracks and additional workshops, covering various aspects of this field. The demand for trustworthy process models that reflect the actual execution steps therefore increases. The respective kinds of processes significantly determine both, business process analysis and the conception of future target processes and they are the starting point for any kind of change initiatives. Existing approaches to model as-is processes, like process mining, are exclusively focused on reconstruction. Therefore, transactional protocols and limited data from a single application system are used. Heterogeneous application landscapes and business processes that are executed across multiple application systems, on the contrary, are one of the main challenges in process mining research. Using RFID technology is hence one approach to close the existing gap between different application systems. This paper focuses on methods for data collection from real world objects via RFID technology and possible combinations with application data (process mining) in order to realize a cross system mining approach.}, language = {en} } @inproceedings{GniosdorzScheffler2011, author = {Gniosdorz, Birgit and Scheffler, Christiane}, title = {The variability of bone strength and skeletal robustness of young men - how it can be influenced}, series = {Journal of biological and clinical anthropology : Anthropologischer Anzeiger ; Mitteilungsorgan der Gesellschaft f{\"u}r Anthropologie}, volume = {68}, booktitle = {Journal of biological and clinical anthropology : Anthropologischer Anzeiger ; Mitteilungsorgan der Gesellschaft f{\"u}r Anthropologie}, number = {4}, publisher = {Schweizerbart}, address = {Stuttgart}, issn = {0003-5548}, pages = {497 -- 498}, year = {2011}, language = {en} }
