  abstract  = {Jaro und Malia sind endlich wieder mit ihren Kindern Juna, Nenad und Yasha zusammen. Endlich! Vor den klimatischen Ver{\"a}nderungen und den dadurch ausgel{\"o}sten b{\"u}rgerkriegs{\"a}hnlichen Zust{\"a}nden flohen sie. Der Vater ging mit der {\"a}ltesten Tochter Juna zuerst, so hatten sie es beschlossen. Die Mutter folgte sp{\"a}ter mit den Kindern Nenad und Yasha. Nun wohnen sie in der winzigen Wohnung von Avron und versuchen, in Deutschland anzukommen. Dabei stellen sich ihnen nicht nur deutsche Wortmonster in den Weg. Alles ist neu: Die Stadt, in der sich Nenad noch nach Wochen verl{\"a}uft; der Schnee, der zu Hause nicht fiel; die Formulare, die auf {\"A}mtern auszuf{\"u}llen sind und die Superm{\"a}rkte, in denen es keine ganzen H{\"a}hne zu kaufen gibt. Nur die Zahlen und Zeichen der Mathematik sind {\"u}berall gleich und geben zumindest Nenad Sicherheit. Noch mehr Geborgenheit erf{\"a}hrt die Familie jedoch durch ihre Religion. Wie in ihrem alten Zuhause gibt es auch hier Menschen, die sich versammeln um zu beten, zu feiern und zu singen. Aber sie treffen sich nicht in einer heiligen Grotte wie die Ahaqu. Besonders Malia, die Mutter, vermisst ihre Religion mit ihren naturverbundenen Br{\"a}uchen sehr. „Ankommen" thematisiert unaufdringlich das Verh{\"a}ltnis zwischen Religion und Migration anhand einer Familie, die aus einem unbekannten und nicht n{\"a}her bezeichneten Land nach Deutschland kommt und einer fiktiven Religion angeh{\"o}rt. Hier treffen sie nicht nur auf andere naturr{\"a}umliche Gegebenheiten, sondern auch auf v{\"o}llig andere gesellschaftlich-kulturell-religi{\"o}se Traditionen, wodurch es zu Irritationen und Missverst{\"a}ndnissen kommt. Die elf Geschichten des Buches stehen jeweils f{\"u}r sich und thematisieren ein Element religi{\"o}sen Lebens bzw. der Religion unter den Bedingungen des Ankommens in einem fremden Land. Zugleich sind alle Texte inhaltlich-thematisch miteinander verwoben. Dadurch ist es m{\"o}glich, die Geschichten einzeln zu lesen oder das Buch als Ganzschrift. F{\"u}r den Einsatz im wertebildenden und religionskundlichen Unterricht bietet das Buch am Ende jeder Geschichte ein didaktisches Setting an.},

  abstract  = {Jurgen Habermas explicates the concept of communicative reason. He explains the key assumptions of the philosophy of language and social theory associated with this concept. Also discussed is the category of life-world and the role of the body-mind difference for the consciousness of exclusivity in our access to subjective experience. as well as the role of emotions and perceptions in the context of a theory of communicative action. The question of the redemption of the various validity claims as they are associated with the performance of speech acts is related to processes of social learning and to the role of negative experiences. Finally the interview deals with the relationship between religion and reason and the importance of religion in modern, post-secular societies. Questions about the philosophical culture of our present times are discussed at the end of the conversation.},

  abstract  = {Contrary to earlier studies dealing with the cultural identity development of diasporic minorities, this paper assesses the impact of homogeneity on intra-group cohesion and ethnic orientation. To this end, Oromo-Americans, an ethnic group originally located within the national borders of Ethiopia, will be compared to Armenian-Americans, British-Pakistanis and Somali-Americans. Despite different circumstances, all four groups share the experience of displacement owing to war and destitution. Additionally, all groups are confronted with the ramifications of a visible minority status. In the process of comparing these groups, their degrees of homogeneity in regard to language and religion - central aspects of culture and cultural identity - will be examined and juxtaposed at a macro level. Based on the correlative relationship of group homogeneity and social cohesion, I argue that the more homogeneous a group is in terms of language and religion, the more close-knit it will be. Consequently, exiled minorities who share the same language and religion are more likely to develop and retain a strong ethnic orientation than groups who are heterogeneous with regard to language and/or religion.},
