  abstract  = {During his American expedition Humboldt grappled intensively with the iniquities of colonialism. In the year 1803, for example, he noted "that the idea of a colony is itself an immoral idea, this idea of a land which is obliged to pay dues to another country." The colonial powers, wrote Humboldt, support intolerance, repression and slavery. However, he did not express his criticism in public during the expedition but entrusted it only to good friends and his diary. The lecture treats Humboldt's political stance during the expedition, based on human rights and his communicative role as a research traveller who, having returned to Europe, made his criticism public. Central to the lecture are examples of Humboldt's criticism of representatives of the colonial system. These make clear which important impulses the researcher gave to the independence movement and to the politicians of the young American states.},

Vor allem gr{\"u}nes Steinmaterial, sogenannte Jade, war in Mesoamerika kulturell sehr bedeutsam und weit verbreitet, so daß sich aus diesem Rohstoff in der Sammlung auch bearbeitete St{\"u}cke vorfinden. Sie erlangten in Europa unterschiedliche Aufmerksamkeit. Die Jadeaxt und die Sonnenscheibe - beide im zweiten Weltkrieg verloren gegangen, hatten als "Humboldt-Axt" und "Humboldt-Scheibe" bezeichnet großes Interesse erregt, w{\"a}hrend ein Anh{\"a}nger aus Jade in Form eines K{\"o}pfchens ganz in Vergessenheit geriet. Die Bedeutung der einzelnen Gr{\"u}nstein-Proben spiegelt unterschiedliche kulturgeschichtliche Zusammenh{\"a}nge wider.},

  abstract  = {In diesem Artikel wird das Bild untersucht, das von Alexander von Humboldt seit seinem Aufbruch nach Amerika 1799 bis zu seinem Tod im Jahr 1859 sowohl in professioneller als auch in privater Hinsicht in der spanischen Presse verbreitet worden war. F{\"u}r eine solche Analyse ist es notwendig einerseits zu untersuchen, welche Aspekte seiner Person, seines Lebens, seines Werkes sowie seiner Ideen in der w{\"a}hrend jener Jahren erschienenen Presse erw{\"a}hnt bzw. hervorgehoben wurden, und auf der anderen Seite, welche Facetten keinen Eingang in diese Publikationen erhielten - denn das Bild, das man von einer Pers{\"o}nlichkeit entstehen lassen will, setzt sich aus beiden Bereichen zusammen. In beiden F{\"a}llen ist es zudem unerl{\"a}sslich, die Absichten bzw. Interessen zu untersuchen, die sich hinter dem jeweiligen "Fokus" der Publikationen verborgen haben m{\"o}gen. Innerhalb dieser Studie kam der Rolle, die Humboldt im Zusammenhang mit zwei wichtigen Geschehnissen zu dieser Zeit - der Unabh{\"a}ngigkeitsbewegung der spanischen Kolonien in Amerika sowie dem, was wir heute "Moderne" nennen - zugesprochen worden war, eine besondere Bedeutung zu. Diese Phase in der Geschichte Spaniens fiel zudem in einen sehr wechselhaften und komplexen politisch-sozialen Kontext, woraus sich die Notwendigkeit erkl{\"a}rt, nicht nur die moderate Presse zu untersuchen, die sich in Spanien unter der absolutistischen Zensur entwickelt hatte, sondern ebenfalls die liberale Presse des Londoner Exils einzubeziehen, um zu sehen, inwiefern diese Zeitschriften eine unterschiediche Wahrnehmung Alexander von Humboldts aufzeigten.},

Die in der mehr problem- als werkorientierten Schaffensweise Humboldts, der zeitgen{\"o}ssischen Popularit{\"a}t seiner Schriften und den buchh{\"a}ndlerischen Verh{\"a}ltnissen seiner Zeit begr{\"u}ndete Un{\"u}berschaubarkeit seines publizierten Œuvres begr{\"u}ndete eine Art bibliographischen und buchh{\"a}ndlerischen Mythos, der jeden weiteren Versuch einer verl{\"a}ßlichen und wenigstens in Teilen vollst{\"a}ndigen Bibliographierung dieses Werkes geradezu als Abenteuer erscheinen lassen mußte. Horst Fiedler und Ulrike Leitner haben sich diesem bibliographischen Abenteuer gestellt. Als Ergebnis ihrer sich {\"u}ber zwei Jahrzehnte erstreckenden Bem{\"u}hungen konnte im Jahre 2000 die Bibliographie der selbst{\"a}ndig erschienenen Schriften Humboldts vorgelegt werden.},

  abstract  = {Este trabajo trata un aspecto de la obra de Humboldt que es muy importante y, a la vez, poco conocido: la inspiraci{\´o}n de este sabio prusiano en los antiguos cronistas espa{\~n}oles al desarrollar sus propias y originales ideas sobre el Universo. El objetivo de este estudio es demostrar que Humboldt no solo era un lector de estas cr{\´o}nicas, sino que su sistema de observaci{\´o}n y clasificaci{\´o}n, llamado Historia Natural y Moral, con el que se pretend{\´i}a aprehender las tierras americanas en su plenitud y diversidad, est{\´a} presente como idea en la elaboraci{\´o}n de Humboldt de su concepto de la Geograf{\´i}a F{\´i}sica. Los argumentos para sostener esta hip{\´o}tesis ser{\´a}n presentadas en dos niveles. Una primera parte, de car{\´a}cter descriptivo, nos muestra los resultados de una b{\´u}squeda sistem{\´a}tica de referencias que se encuentran en las obras de Humboldt a los escritos de los cronistas en general, y a Acosta en particular. La segunda parte es m{\´a}s interpretativa, y tiene su focus en un an{\´a}lisis de las semejanzas que se encuentran entre el concepto que aplica Humboldt en sus estudios y el modelo Historia Natural y Moral, con objeto de desarrollar c{\´o}mo Humboldt redescubre, usa y revaloriza este esquema.},

  abstract  = {Con ocasi{\´o}n de la 3ra entrega de su "Relation historique.." -Par{\´i}s de 1825- al reflexionar Humboldt sobre de lo que a mediano y largo plazo ser{\´i}a el futuro del nuevo orden mundial -todav{\´i}a entonces egoc{\´e}ntricamente reducido a Europa- una vez quedase consolidada la irreversible emancipaci{\´o}n pol{\´i}tica hispanoamericana, vaticin{\´o} que ser{\´i}a el conjunto de nuevos intereses y relaciones comerciales y financieras que surgir{\´i}an tras la plena emancipaci{\´o}n de los nuevos Estados americanos, las encargados de restablecer -y sobre todo ampliar- el equilibrio y la din{\´a}mica econ{\´o}mica y pol{\´i}tica entre el 'viejo' y 'nuevo' mundo. Mucho antes de cumplirse el 1er centenario de la anterior hip{\´o}tesis humboldtiana resultaba ya evidente que su predicci{\´o}n 'americana' apenas se hab{\´i}a cumplido respecto de los Estados Unidos de Am{\´e}rica y Canad{\´a}; siendo entonces manifiesto el nuevo marginamiento y dependencia que el resto del continente hab{\´i}a asumido en el conjunto econ{\´o}mico mundial que entonces empezaba a cuantificarse de manera global..
