  abstract  = {"Microfilm" (1971) von Andrea Zanzotto ist ein hoch komplexes, intermediales Gebilde, das seit seiner erstmaligen Ver{\"o}ffentlichung der Zanzotto-Forschung große interpretative Schwierigkeiten bereitet hat. Die vorliegende Arbeit ist die erste umfassende Monographie zu "Microfilm". Nach Zanzottos eigener Aussage entstand "Microfilm" als k{\"u}nstlerische Reaktion auf die Katastrophe von Vajont vom 9. Oktober 1963, als ein Bergrutsch eine gewaltige Flutwelle ausl{\"o}ste, die {\"u}ber den Vajont-Staudamm hinweg ins Tal von Longarone st{\"u}rzte. Der Hintergrund des Werkes gibt dem Autor den Anlass zu einem simulierten Hinterfragen des tragischen Ereignisses und zugleich seines eigenen Schaffens. Dies vollzieht sich in der Form einer trugbildhaften bildschriftlichen Komposition. Die Sinnlosigkeit der Katastrophe wiederholt sich in der diskontinuierlichen, hermetischen Form von Zanzottos Text.},

  abstract  = {As the world cannot be adequately understood from the vantage point of a single language, the literatures of the world can no longer be trimmed to a single world literature in the Goethean sense. This recognition bodes well for the future of philology and of literary production. Through multiperspectival writing, knowledge of life may be attainable without being reduced to a single political, medial, cartographical, geocultural, or aesthetic logic. As a laboratory for polylogical thinking, literature does not represent reality, as Erich Auerbach put it. Rather, it represents multiple lived, experienced, or relivable realities. Whoever is open to a polylogical reception of the literatures of the world can perceive and experience how life knowledge transforms into lived knowledge and how knowledge for survival turns into knowledge for living together. However, literature can be more than it is only if it stays aware of the void, of lack, of privation, of the interminable: aware of the end that never is an end. Such a planetary concept of the literatures of the world offers valuable opportunities to all those who do not fall into the trap of contenting themselves with a supposed abundance of text.},

  abstract  = {Two Chilean poets with equal and yet different conceptions of poetry: While Nicanor Parra is considered one of the most important Latin American lyricists of the 20th century, the poetry of novelist Roberto Bola{\~n}o only finds little attention in comparison to his highly successful prose. Yet both authors give constructive answers to the possible functions of contemporary poetry under an epistemology based upon materialism that affects language as emancipatory capacity of each human individual. A comparative reading of two volumes of their poetry, Parra's well known Poemas y antipoemas (1954) and Bola{\~n}o's last 'collection of poems' Tres (2000), does not only demonstrate some structural links. The urgent question concerning the benefits of literature among globalized societies, involving highly complex cultural and linguistic identities, could benefit from a revived awareness towards poetry as historically relative formalization of language, but also as an efficient instrument to reflect the restrictions of language in times of its economic and cultural-industrial standardization.},

  abstract  = {The multifaceted concept of 'form' plays a central tole in the linguistic work of Wilhelm von Humboldt (1767-1835), where it is deeply entwined with aesthetic questions. H. Steinthal's (1823-1899) interpretation of linguistic form, however, made it the servant of psychology. The Formungstrieb (drive to formation) of Georg von der Gabelentz (1840-1893) challenged Steinthal's conception and placed a renewed emphasis on aesthetics. In this endeavour, Gabelentz drew on the work of such figures as August Friedrich Pott (1802-1887), Hans Conon von der Gabelentz (1807-1874) and William Dwight Whitney (1827-1894). In this paper, we examine Gabelentz' Formungstrieb and place it in its historical context.},

  abstract  = {Gegenstand des Buches ist die sprachliche Gestaltung der Temporalit{\"a}t, Aspektualit{\"a}t und Modalit{\"a}t in den romanischen Sprachen. In die Betrachtung dieser drei Kategorien werden neben dem Tempus, Aspekt und Modus weitere Ausdrucksmittel, wie zum Beispiel Verbalperiphrasen, Adverbien und lexikalische Bedeutungen von Verben, einbezogen. Die Beschreibung erfolgt auf der Grundlage einer funktionalen Sicht der Grammatik und das Zusammenwirken verschiedener Strukturebenen der Sprache bei der Markierung temporaler, aspektueller und modaler Verh{\"a}ltnisse wird betrachtet. Neuere Forschungsans{\"a}tze im Bereich der Typologie und der kognitiven Linguistik werden ber{\"u}cksichtigt. Insbesondere wird die Interaktion zwischen den drei Kategorien, die in den romanischen Sprachen nicht streng getrennt sind, dargestellt. Im Zentrum stehen das Franz{\"o}sische, das Italienische, das Portugiesische und das Spanische, wobei auff{\"a}llige Erscheinungen in anderen romanischen Sprachen gleichfalls erw{\"a}hnt werden. Neben einer {\"U}berblicksdarstellung, die den aktuellen Forschungsstand reflektiert, werden Ergebnisse eigener Forschungen zur funktionalen Struktur der Kategorie der Aspektualit{\"a}t, zur coverten Modalit{\"a}t und zur Evidentialit{\"a}t in romanischen Sprachen vorgestellt.},
