Contrary toexisting attempts to explain these political processes towards democratization, thisarticle argues for a causal analysis of social change and concentrates on the socialmechanisms that trigger the reorganization process of modern society. Two thesesare entertained. The first thesis argues that the programme of an institutional andmoral reorganization of modern society can be reanalysed as a causal process ofdemocratization. This process takes two steps. While social mechanisms of reorgan-izationbring about the institutional and moral reorganization of modern society, social mechanisms of stabilizationguarantee the functioning of the emergingdemocratic system. Further, the second thesis argues that this kind of explanationcan be applied to Durkheim's vision of a European confederation. The analysisreveals that his idea of a 'post-national' constellation refers to crucial problems ofthe recent debate regarding a democratic deficit in the European Union, and itshows that Durkheim's contribution to both political sociology and historical-comparative research has been misconceived and prematurely repudiated.}, language = {en} } @misc{Lettl2004, author = {Lettl, Tobias}, title = {Schwierigkeiten beim Versendungskauf}, series = {Juristische Schulung : JuS ; Zeitschrift f{\"u}r Studium und Referendariat}, volume = {44}, journal = {Juristische Schulung : JuS ; Zeitschrift f{\"u}r Studium und Referendariat}, publisher = {Beck}, address = {M{\"u}nchen}, issn = {0022-6939}, pages = {314 -- 317}, year = {2004}, language = {de} } @book{OPUS4-43170, title = {Minimality effects in syntax}, series = {Studies in generative grammar ; 70}, journal = {Studies in generative grammar ; 70}, editor = {Stepanov, Arthur and Fanselow, Gisbert and Vogel, Ralf}, publisher = {de Gruyter}, address = {New York}, isbn = {978-3-11-017961-3}, pages = {448}, year = {2004}, language = {de} } @book{OPUS4-39623, title = {Kommunalrecht}, series = {Nagelmanns Bl{\"a}tter zum Lernen}, journal = {Nagelmanns Bl{\"a}tter zum Lernen}, number = {4}, editor = {Schwarz, Kyrill-A. and Umbach, Dieter C.}, publisher = {Universit{\"a}tsverlag Potsdam}, address = {Potsdam}, isbn = {978-3-937786-17-9}, publisher = {Universit{\"a}t Potsdam}, pages = {234}, year = {2004}, language = {de} } @misc{Eckstein2004, author = {Eckstein, Lars}, title = {V.S.
