N2  - Gustav Rose (1798-1873) accompanied Humboldt on his journey to Russia. He kept in touch with Humboldt after this expedition until Humboldt died in 1859. The edition of the letter at hand aims at highlighting Rose’s relation to Humboldt and how he influenced the geological and mineralogical part of the Kosmos. It shall also make this impressive historical document accessible to readers by providing illustrating annotations.
