N2  - Der Einsatz in Afghanistan hat Deutschland insgesamt ca. 12 500 000 000 € gekostet und zivile und militärische Kräfte 20 Jahre lang gebunden. Er endete im August des Jahres 2021 mit einem übereilten Abzug aus Kabul und die ursprünglich gesetzten Ziele wurden im Wesentlichen nicht erreicht. Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es, den Einsatz in Afghanistan von 2001 bis 2021 aus Sicht der BRD politikwissenschaftlich und völkerrechtlich aufzuarbeiten. Dazu wird folgende, übergeordnete Forschungsfrage gestellt: Welche Lehren für die Außen- und Sicherheitspolitik der BRD lassen sich aus dem Einsatz in Afghanistan ziehen? Um die Forschungsfrage zu beantworten wurde ein qualitativ deduktiver Ansatz gewählt, der unter Zuhilfenahme von Fachliteratur sowie Expert:inneninterviews versucht, den Einsatzverlauf zu skizzieren und Lehren für künftige, vergleichbare Humanitäre Interventionen aufzuzeigen.
N2  - The mission in Afghanistan has required costs of 12 500 000 000 € from Germany and has tied civilian and military forces for 20 years. It ended in August 2021 with a hasty withdrawal from Kabul and the actual objectives have essentially not been reached. Objective of the provided thesis is to analyse the Mission in Afghanistan from 2001 to 2021 from the view of Germany by a political and juridical scientific point of view. Therefor the following research question is posed: Which lessons for the foreign and security policy of the Federal Republic of Germany can be derived from the mission in Afghanistan? To reply to the research question, a qualitative and deductive approach was chosen, which attempts to analyse the process with the aid of broad literature research and expert interviews to derive lessons for comparable humanitarian interventions in future.
