N2  - Since Augusto Damineli's demonstration in 1996 that Eta Carinae is a binary with a 5.52 year period, many innovative observations and increasingly advanced three-dimensional models have led to considerable insight on this massive system that ejected at least ten, possibly forty, solar masses in the nineteenth century. Here we present a review of our current understanding of this complex system and point out continuing puzzles.
