  abstract  = {Der franz{\"o}sische Autor Michel Houellebecq und sein literarisches Werk sorgen in der medialen {\"O}ffentlichkeit regelm{\"a}ßig f{\"u}r Skandale, die Vorw{\"u}rfe reichen von bewusster Provokation bis hin zu diversen Diskriminierungen. Dabei unterst{\"u}tzt Houellebecq durch seine mediale Selbstinszenierung die Verwischung zwischen sich selbst als realer Person und den Erz{\"a}hlstimmen seiner Texte. Dies f{\"u}hrt auch in der Literaturwissenschaft zu wiederholten Versuchen, dem Schriftsteller und seinen Romanen eine politische Position zuzuschreiben. Im Gegensatz dazu ist das Ziel dieser Abschlussarbeit, am Beispiel des 2015 bei Flammarion publizierten Romans Soumission - welchem neben Misogynie auch Islam- und Homofeindlichkeit vorgeworfen wurde -, herauszustellen, wie der Text Widerst{\"a}nde gegen konkrete politische Positionierungen und starre Bedeutungszuschreibungen aufweist. {\"U}ber eine Analyse der M{\"a}nnlichkeits- und Weiblichkeitsentw{\"u}rfe im Sinne dekonstruktiver Gendertheorien sowie {\"u}ber eine intertextuelle und postkoloniale Perspektivierung werden die Ambivalenz und das provokative Potential des Textes herausgearbeitet. Das intertextuelle Verweisspiel des Romans und die Systemreferenz zur D{\´e}cadence, besonders durch Bez{\"u}ge zu Einzeltexten und zur Biografie des Autors Joris-Karl Huysmans, bilden eine wichtige Grundlage sowohl f{\"u}r das zentrale Thema der religi{\"o}sen Konversion, die textimmanente Bedeutung der Literatur, als auch f{\"u}r die Geschlechterkonstruktionen. Trotz der Stereotypisierung von Frauenfiguren, deren gesellschaftlicher Wert vom sexuellen Begehren eines Mannes abh{\"a}ngt, oder der orientalistischen Darstellung des Islams entwirft Soumission eine komplexe Inszenierung von M{\"a}nnlichkeitsvorstellungen. Dies zeigt sich in der verunsicherten m{\"a}nnlichen Identit{\"a}t des Protagonisten Fran{\c{c}}ois, die zwischen universalem Anspruch und individueller Einzigartigkeit changiert und gleichzeitig, wie auch jene von anderen m{\"a}nnlichen Figuren, eine strikte, stereotype Geschlechterbinarit{\"a}t unterl{\"a}uft. Die Verunsicherung der Identit{\"a}t des Protagonisten spiegelt die der franz{\"o}sischen Gesellschaft wider, dabei verf{\"u}gen nur der fiktive Islam und dessen Genderpolitik {\"u}ber ausreichend St{\"a}rke, dem kulturellen Verfall des Westens etwas entgegenzusetzen. Der religi{\"o}sen Konversion zum Islam wird eine korrektive und erl{\"o}sende Funktion zugeschrieben, die in dem Akt der Unterwerfung ihren H{\"o}hepunkt findet. In den Translationsprozessen von franz{\"o}sischer, christlich gepr{\"a}gter in eine muslimisch fundierte Kultur offenbart sich nicht nur ein Angriff auf die akademische Bildungselite Frankreichs, sondern auch auf das Wissen der Literatur. Indem eine Re- und Uminterpretation literarischer Texte durch den Protagonisten und weitere Figuren f{\"u}r die neue fundamentalistische Gesellschaftsordnung vorgenommen wird, offenbart sich neben bin{\"a}ren Geschlechterkonstruktionen und diversen politischen Positionierungen auch das nationale Narrativ der franz{\"o}sischen Literatur als labile Fiktion.},

  abstract  = {Klossowski, who had originally started as a religious seeker of truth in his younger years, will - after his « reversal » - feel himself invested with the role of a « heretic » struggling with the libidinous search for truth. Even as the creator of a perverted metaphysics, he remains a seeker of the revelation of being, now in the role of the divine « adversary » who, thrown back on himself, tends to imitate a religious mystic. The divine is replaced by the whispers of the demon, which Klossowski experiences as « la complicit{\´e} d'une force "d{\´e}monique" » in the creation of his artworks. The Diana myth becomes a parable for the act of artistic creation. Sexuality, understood as the primordial ground of creative force that shapes the signe unique, the phantasm, shifts metaphysics to « phantasmaphysics » (Foucault), in which the mystery of the divine is exposed as a delusion (Wahnbild).},

  abstract  = {{\`A} partir des travaux des ethnologues qui ont d{\´e}crit le fonctionnement des soci{\´e}t{\´e}s paysannes de l'Ancien R{\´e}gime, nous montrons dans cet article comment le r{\´e}cit de l'enfance bretonne de Chateaubriand dans les ‚M{\´e}moires d'outre-tombe' ob{\´e}it {\`a} une logique initiatique qui donne {\`a} l'animal un r{\^o}le de premier plan. Transform{\´e}e en v{\´e}ritable „aventure", la capture des oiseaux devient pour l'enfant l'occasion de forger son caract{\`e}re et de d{\´e}couvrir le sens de l'honneur, tandis que la contemplation de leur envol {\´e}veille en lui le go{\^u}t des voyages qu'il n'a pas encore la possibilit{\´e} d'assouvir. {\`A} Combourg, chouettes et chat noir peuplent les nuits de l'enfant et l'obligent {\`a} dompter ses peurs. Quant au cheval, que Chateaubriand a mal appris {\`a} ma{\^i}triser, il devient sous sa plume l'embl{\`e}me d'une {\´e}poque r{\´e}volue domin{\´e}e par les privil{\`e}ges de l'aristocratie et le signe de l'inadaptation des derniers rois de France. Il restera {\`a} l'{\´e}crivain {\`a} s'emparer de cette familiarit{\´e} avec le monde animal pour nourrir son imaginaire et sa sensibilit{\´e} de plus en plus grande au sort que lui r{\´e}serve la soci{\´e}t{\´e}.},

  abstract  = {On 7 February 1861, John Tyndall, professor of natural philosophy, delivered a historical lecture: he could prove that different gases absorb heat to a very different degree, which implies that the temperate conditions provided for by the Earth's atmosphere are dependent on its particular composition of gases. The theoretical foundation of climate science was laid. Ten years later, on the other side of the Channel, a young and ambitious author was working on a comprehensive literary analysis of the French era under the Second Empire. {\´E}mile Zola had probably not heard or read of Tyndall's discovery. However, the article makes the case for reading Zola's Rougon-Macquart as an extensive story of climate change. Zola's literary attempts to capture the defining characteristic of the Second Empire led him to the insight that its various milieus were all part of the same 'climate': that of an all-encompassing warming. Zola suggests that this climate is man-made: the economic success of the Second Empire is based on heating, in a literal and metaphorical sense, as well as on stoking the steam-engines and creating the hypertrophic atmosphere of the hothouse that enhances life and maximises turnover and profit. In contrast to Tyndall and his audience, Zola sensed the catastrophic consequences of this warming: the Second Empire was inevitably moving towards a final d{\´e}b{\^a}cle, i.e. it was doomed to perish in local and 'global' climate catastrophes. The article foregrounds the supplementary status of Tyndall's physical and Zola's literary knowledge. As Zola's striking intuition demonstrates, literature appears to have a privileged approach to the phenomenon of man-induced climate change.},

  abstract  = {En 2012, l'{\´e}crivain Jonathan Littell s'est rendu dans la ville syrienne de Homs, marqu{\´e}e par la guerre civile, pour rendre compte de cette guerre dans le quotidien Le Monde. Toutefois, il a publi{\´e} ses notes non seulement sous la forme d'une s{\´e}rie d'articles, mais aussi comme un livre ind{\´e}pendant. Dans ce contexte, la question se pose de savoir pourquoi cette d{\´e}cision a {\´e}t{\´e} prise. Le statut de t{\´e}moin de guerre acquiert-il une qualit{\´e} diff{\´e}rente avec une autre forme de publication ? En outre, il faut souligner la probl{\´e}matique de la recontextualisation et de l'esth{\´e}tisation du reportage quotidien de guerre {\`a} travers une allocation formelle et archi-textuelle de l'{\´e}crit du domaine journalistique au domaine litt{\´e}raire. Car la publication d'un journal de guerre {\´e}dit{\´e} doit s'inscrire dans une longue tradition, comme on l'appellera dans l'article {\`a} l'exemple des œuvres d'Ernst J{\"u}nger, dont les relations avec l'{\´e}criture de Jonathan Littell sont {\`a} remettre en question ici.},

  abstract  = {In the nineteenth century, the reception of Giambattista Vico's writings came along with nationalist interpretations of his Scienza Nuova as an 'Italian Science'. This tendency was based upon an increased examination of the role that the philosopher Pythagoras and his Italian school of Croton played in Vico's hierarchical conception of the ancient Greek and Italian civilizations. Writers, archaeologists and historians used the New Science as a metonymic reference work for their own nationalist concepts by updating the Pythagorean myth in accordance with relevant narratives of exclusive genealogies concerning an ancient Italian wisdom. These narratives follow tendencies in Vico's own writings that were quoted strategically and mixed with further interpretations of the Scienza Nuova as reliable testimonial for a glorious Italian history. A theological poet characterized by deeper insight into the secrets of nature and some parts of the divine providence, Pythagoras gains his special position in Vico's general conception of knowledge.},
