N2  - Eine der faszinierendsten Facetten der jüdischen Sprachmystik ist die Betrachtung der hebräischen Vokale als Träger der göttlichen Wirkkraft. Mit der aufblühenden Kabbala im 12. und 13. Jahrhundert entstanden in unterschiedlichen Zusammenhängen zahlreiche Theorien über die symbolische Bedeutung der Vokale, deren Form, Klang, Schreibweise oder auch grammatikalische Funktion Anlass zu mystischen Spekulationen gaben. In diesem Beitrag wird anhand ausgesuchter Beispiele der Versuch unternommen, die unterschiedlichen Lesarten der Vokale vorzustellen und die wichtigsten vokalmystischen Schulen herauszuarbeiten.
N2  - One of the most fascinating facets of Jewish mysticism is the discussion of the Hebrew vowels as representatives of the divine power. With the flourishing kabbalah in the 12th and 13th century numerous mystical theories on the symbolical meaning of the vowels emerged, the image, sound, notation, and even grammatical function of which induced esoteric speculations. This paper will be concerned with the different readings of the vowels and the most important schools of this mystical trend.
